Top Tips For 2011

Hi all,
Well, its that time of year again
Exactly 12 months since we did the last 'Top Tips' thread... so, as it's now a Soul Source tradition, here we go again!
Here's your opportunity to tip the tunes in your box for future greatness, during the forthcoming year... or simply list any number of records that you'd like to recommend to other Soul Sourcers.
You might be a DJ with that tasty unplayed, unknown, hardly played or semi-known 45 stuck in the back of your box that you'd love to play out... but haven't quite got around to it... yet!
You might be a collector, sitting on a tune that you know, if it got into the right hands, could become massive in the next 12 months.
It could be an LP track that, for whatever reason, has never been given the recognition it deserves.
It might be a tasty 'B' side that, given the right exposure, might just have what it takes to become a monster!
We're talking, Northern, Modern, Crossover or 'Just Soul'
No need to post sound clips. Just let us know what you've got that you think deserves a really big plug in the coming year!
So come on. Look at your box and let's have your top tip (or tips) for 2011.
Oh... and a Happy (and Soulful) New Year to all!

[r]67749[/r]
The Debonairs - Feel Alright (W-BS)
[r]67669[/r]
More later.

Tape swappers fav
Tyrone Davis - All The Waiting Is Not In Vain
Superb tune and such an under rated artist probably due to the fact that most of his 45's are so readily available.
Makes this man's contribution to the soul genre no less worthy though IMO.
RIP Tyrone.

Be true to yourself.
Here goes nothing... Here are three 'new to my ears' this year that i'd like to see get some main room attention next year.
Pauline and Bobby - No Messin Around - Lovely thumping uptempo RnB sounding duet in the style of Mr Clean and Show Some Sign
Bobby Banks - I'm A Batchelor - Fantastic gritty sound, reminds me a bit of Rod Keith, The Lord Said.
Shirley Caeser - Stand The Storm - Perfect sound for now, uptempo female gospel/funk sound. Absolutely brilliant.
Calvin Arnold - Lovely Way To Go - Blimey! This is fantastic, never heard it before this year, Pat Bleasdale play at Move On.
Happy New Year everybody

disco? DISCO?
Valiants Walkin' girl Ensign....( right from the off this latinesque shouter hits the spot).
Charlie Baker You crack me up Liberty(green issue) a group soul mid tempo atmospheric dancer. LOOK OUT.
Albert King I Get evil Bobbin A label with a few winners on it..this being one of them....slick RnB.
Percy Mayfield Diggin' the Moonglow Speciality (Ahead of it's time this one, i think from 57...but such an infectious tune...i can't stop slapping it on the turntable.).
Danny Overbea My Love Checker (this one from 55 i think..sounds more like 60-63...People would probably class it as popcorn, and it does have a feel to it...yet this tune is simply phwoar!)
Tony Spade What's Gwyne on? Back Beat (white green purple design). An early outiing for Berry Gordy as a songster, and a crackin attempt too. Uptempo mod dancer.
Betty Renne Bye Bye Baby New Art... hhhhooooooooo-wwweeeeee. A bit of a cracker this one..."wait wait wait, where you goin wit them suitcases and thing, get back here"(or words to that affect)....then she puts her foot down and puts him staight with her vocal. Rockin' rnb/early big city styley.
Then on more of a Northern tinge
Agree with a prior post;
Billy Harner I've got to check you out V-tone Brilliant uptempo northern dancer...with a superb backing with breaks in all the right places. Not forgetting Billys' rawcous vocal over the top....keep your ears pealed.
Capt.Jesse Fountain I'm Marchin' Cameo Parkway....The title gives you the style of dancer you're gonna get..and is delivered in full.
The postee reserves the right to an opinion and is in no way claiming exclusivity of knowledge to any of the above titles. Also realises that he doesn't get out often enough to know if any of these tunes actually get played anywhere already. Yet, to the best of his/her? knowledge feels that with a little exposure....or More exposure, these tunes could add 57% more enjoyment tpo an evening of entertainment in 2011. So ner! (I'm really not well in the head).
happy new year all!!

4 nice choices mate......and all bought from the same super-seller (don't be shy you can share the name of this super-seller with all of us mate
2011 will see the total self-destruction of the entire scene so don't think I'll put my tips up, doesn't seem worth it .....(translated version of that sentence <------- Can't narrow it down to 3 or 4 yet and might take a while before I do so spout any old rubbish and hope no one really questions why I haven't put a few tips up myself!)
