*******************************

Must send out some special thanks

- to all the travellers - but especially from Sweden, Spain, London, Scotland, Manchester, Cheltenham, skeggy, etc ...and Yorkshire off course

- to Dave Thorley for saving me when I accidently yanked the stylus out just before the start. A bit of ringing round a super Steve Woomble came to this damsel's rescue. (Spares of everything we can carry in future)

- an extra special thanks to Malayka, who made delicious birthday cakes in honor of Soul Sam's birthday - for all there to enjoy

Sam would also like to thank everyone for his gifts and cards - he's very touched. He also enjoyed himself so much that he insists on playing at every Boomerang summer special. I'm not usually easily scared, but I'm not arguing with him laugh.gif

I'm not gonna say a lot & I know you'll be glad about that. We all knew it would be a great day & night, cos it always is, even though Maria always manages a fit of apoplexy & becomes a worry wart, while Karen smiles sweetly, laugh's loudly & floats on a sea of calm but that's why they're such a good team.

Must say the music, as per, was excellent all night, in fact it was as hot as the room & that was bloody hot, I spent a lot of time talking but still listening at the front entrance & even made some new acquaintance's. Must say the "Man of the Match" for me was Dave Box who played two exquisite spot's & nearly all mid-uptempo, well done & hope we get the same at the next Wilton Dave??

It ended very quickly for us as the mini bus arrived bang on 1am, so due to rallying the troops I missed a few goodbye's, so sorry folks. Lol & Graham it was great to see you again & hope it's not to long till we see you again (Middleton???) also The York Posse, specially my comedy springboard partner Patto, Ooh we have a laff m8  .

Anyway we had a top time & Dj Wrexham Wrangler had a nice Birthday, even though he didn't want any fuss, Yeh ok Martin!!

So till next time, Take care & be safe & remember,"Pensioners Rock!!!!",

Spot.

id been looking forward to this for so so long and as usual was nt dissappointed ,this place just ticks every box for me and i love it.

the place was packed out yet again, and the bar ran out of bottled water ,it was so hot in there.

all the Djs were fab and the birthday boy still dancing behinds those decks at 67 puts alot of us to shame.

fab company ,too many to name, Kirsty doing what she does best  rolleyes.gif nice to meet Sharon and Kev

only downside could nt attend the whole 9 hours and that i could nt dance with my asthma been bad ,but the feet were willing even if the rest of me didnt move once all night  .Spot did keep checking that i had nt moved ,bless ya  wink.gif

Once again Maria and Karen i thank you for a fab night already waiting for the next one

Hi Maria/Karen,

Thanks to you for putting a night like this. We had heard many great things about it and I can assure you all our expectations were fullfilled by far, we had a terrific night, I think it was the quickest nine hours I have spent in a long time. Brilliant music all night long and even better atmosphere. And of course thanks making us feel like at home.

Last, a big hello both to all the people we were introduced for the first time and of course to the already familiar ones. Hope to see you all again soon.

Best,

Iu

We had a brilliant night again as we always do at 'The Tavern' , the playlists speak volumes and looks like we missed lots of our fave tunes as well, good crowd, great company all night with the Derby foursome.

Top tune of the night for me has to be Doc Peabody (thanks Sam) but plenty more to choose from as well.

Thanks to Maria and Karen for the usual warm welcome and see you at the next one.

Paul & Sue :rolleyes::)

Have to agree with this, my first time there and definitely wont be my last, even a taxi ride from Wakefield to Thorne costing twice as much as the taxi drivers estimate (don't suppose they get that many stupid tourists in Wakefield) didn't spoil it for me. Just fantastic music from I arrived till finish and great company.

Thanks to Pete and Karen for excellent hospitality, apologies to other guests if Iwas a bit loud, Claire failed in her duty of keeping me in check.

Fantastic time with excellent company, including being surprised to see Catherine "Schumacher" Raeburn.

Linda Jones "what have i done" .. True soul for early doors indeed.. True soul for me anytime really..

wink.gif

Will be back there indeed...

Thumbs up to Maria & Karen and all the DJ's for a great night at the Canal Tavern. Top tunes from start to finished with just the right mix of norhtern, modern and crossover for me. It was also really nice to meet so many friendly people from all over. Thanks for making me feel so welcome! :o)

Too many to single out one favourite record of the night but the top contenders include Willie Feaster, The Saints, Little Reuben, Second Re$surrection and Arthurs Quadraphonics CU. If i remember correctly Sams Apple & the Three Oranges CU sounded very nice as well.

Also a big, big, BIG thanks to Pete and Karen for having me at your place, driving me around and introducing me to all these nice people. I hope to be able to return the favour some day.

How naughty of me to omit leaving a lookback!

I couldn't do it on Sunday as my parents were here and I couldn't just sneak off, and then I basically forgot

For me it was different night compared to the rest that I've been too (my first being this time last year) - lots of regulars were absent - though the place was still packed out. I also got reprimanded by several folks for being quiet... I think everyone (except for Michael) prefers/expects me to be manic and for the last few weeks I've been much more normal than usual... don't worry these dips never last long and I'll be back in the annoyingly effervescent mode before too long :(

Musically Thorne is heaven for me. The mix is perfect - and its coupled with a lovely dancefloor! Some truely wonderful tunes got played (especially early on) and I did dance... and then I sat down and got chatting and never seemed to find my legs again rolleyes.gif I blame the heat, and Gail :sleep3:

Thank You Karen and Maria for taking the time to organise, promote and book fabulous DJs to play at my favourite soul night

Roll on November :D

Thanks to Maria for posting the playlists so promptly, awesome 9 hours of soul music, I even left my post at the door several times

to rattle round the dance floor!

Thank you each and everyone of you who shared our little do, I hope you all enjoyed the music and if you get the chance come and join us at the next one, if you need help with travel or accomodation details just drop me a line.

Malyka, your cake was lovely and Sam blew all candles out on all three cakes!

Thanks once again freinds old and new for coming see you all soon at various venues both home and AWAY!

Apologies for lateness in commenting, just never seemed to get round to it. A really good afternoon and evening at the Canal Tavern. Thanks to Maria and Karen for organising it, you've got one of the best (if not the best) clubs in the country imo.

Thanks to the DJs for superb music, got me dancing a lot, feet totally knackered at the end of the evening.

Nice to see friends and meet new ones, hope I wasn't too boring after a drink or two.

And thanks to Martin for doing the driving to and from Thorne, it's a fair old journey. Our companions, Lorraine and Graham enjoyed it as well.

Fully intend to be at the next one in November.

And you thought a record could be expensive!

News this week is that a BOOMERANG is expected to fetch £60,000 in an auction :D

Whilst out and about, both Karen and I have still been getting feedback about the last night. There have been lots of people asking for more early starts as well, which suits the travellers better. We're starting to consider it, but I'm not yet convinced it would work too often. Please keep all feedback coming by PM or in person, good or bad. It's hard to see things objectively when you're involved ...and stressing

Hopefully I should get next years dates in the events diary in the next fortnight - and I'll do my best to rotate Saturdays around again.

Our next soul night is on Saturday 22 November. Butch has offerred to take two guest spots - and Arthur and i are pleased that the pressure's off for us to entertain you all from the stage. I think I might even take a leaf out of Karen's book this time and smile for a change
