If you haven't been to Gloucester before - This is GENUINELY 2 self contained, great All Nighters in the same building, each with their own bar, toilets etc, both are in fantastic rooms and 1 admission price gives you access to BOTH rooms!!!!!!!! Both have completely different, musical styles, but our overall aim is to give a fantastic night of entertainment and superb value for money. We have a busy record bar, and if you want some table space please get in contact!!!

Have decided to amend the entry price to £10 on the door to help mitigate the costs pre Christmas for people, especially the many travellers who are coming down to this.

It's Gloucester time again. Thank God. Time to kick off into the Christmas spirit big time, and **ck the recession.

This night gets more atmospheric each time; dj's pushing it a bit more each time.

Maybe's it's the spirit of the Ton of Dynamite room upstairs dripping through the floorboards ??

Anyway, to anyone who asked for a request last time that I said 'next time', obviously I've forgot, so pm me and I'll bring it if I've got it.

See you all Friday 16th. Let's make sure we finish the year properly - giving this all-niter the respect it truly deserves.

What's this, we'll have no apathy here.....

Nige, many thanks for the kind words. It was great to see all sorts trying out the more upfront room and loving it at Stoke.

Looking to do it all again with our band of merry brothers (some more merry than others) this Friday night in the Ton of Dynamite room. This will be the last big blow out before New Year for me so will be turning it all the way up to 11.

If you are trying it out for the first time, why not make your camp in the second room? We have a quality bar and an intimate seating area where you can just about view the dancefloor by the soft glow from the record bar.

It's dark at the top the stairs, just how we like it.

See you there

You always DJ in 'fancy dress' from what I've seen Dave ;)

As Des mentioned it is looking like a busy night is in store for Friday and personally I'm really looking forward to another dose of 'Ton of Dynamite'. It's turning into something special upstairs and it's a real buzz to be part of it. The order of entertainment this Friday in the Ton of Dynamite room is:

10.30-11.00 Killa

11.00-11.30 Adam Topping

11.30-12.00 Johnny Beggs

12.00-12.30 Danny Price

12.30 -1.00 Dave Abbott

1.00 - 1.30 Des Parker

1.30 - 2.00 Dr Pickles

2.00 - 2.30 Killa

2.30 - 3.00 Adam Topping

on a serious note, for those coming from birmingham and the north....was in birmingham today from bristol and there are major roadworks south of the frankley services and in the services too so as its a friday night you may get delayed so adjust your journey times and dont go rushing!!!...went past the junction where a lorry driver died hours earlier and people still coming past me doing 90 in heavy rain...better to get their late than not at all...m5 has been a nightmare last couple of months....

didnt mean to put a downer on things

back to the jokes.....

Well, 'Ton Of Dynamite' officially closes and we all move downstairs at 5am which means we have a 'spare' 30 minutes at the end and rather than give that time to one particular DJ I thought it would be good fun to let any/all of the ToD DJs share the time....Des and Dave will be getting ready for their own double decking downstairs, Killa will most likely be heading off as he's got his granddaughter on Saturday so that leaves Beggsy, Danny, you and I (assuming all 4 fancy it, if one doesn't the 3 will play etc) to 'multi-DJ'. Or something like that....maybe we could decide who plays the next record by arm wrestling or by playing tiddly winks? :D

Great video mate, love watching DJs mix like that......it's amazingly difficult to do despite looking so easy.

Ton of Dynamite - Gloucester

Now that was a great night and just what we needed to finish off the year.

Our room was busy, warm, dark and I thought the music was spot on.

Crowd were dancing, clapping, cheering, chatting and embracing all the sounds on offer.

DJs laughing, joking, working together, playing with passion, trying different sounds but always blending sets with one eye on the floor and not an ego in site. All just as keen to see what was going to get pulled out of the hat next, as those on the floor and in the record bar. Half hour spots still working well but over in a flash.

Many thanks to:

All those that danced and commented on my choice of plays.

To those that tried out our room and created such a buzzy atmosphere.

To those in the smoking area for the laughs and some of the strangest conversations.

Would be great to see some more lookbacks on here as this has been sadly lacking on SS lately.

Have a great Chritmas and New Year.

See you out and about in 2012.

Don't know where to start, an absolutely fantastic, busy night in 2 rooms - with a wide and brilliant selection of top quality stuff played in both!!!

Fully agree with Des and Branston :)

An absolutely fantastic night. I spent all but the last hour upstairs in the Ton of Dynamite room and it was brilliant from the very start right to the very last record. As mentioned by Chris the people there were brilliant and as a DJ you couldn't have asked for a better audience.....thanks goes to each and everyone who spent time with us. The DJs all played sets of quality up-tempo dancers, a fantastic blend of soul, funk, RnB and latin and working so well together that the night flowed perfectly.

Several of us finished the night off at Bob's house were a few hours were spent drinking coffee, playing tunes and talking and the general consensus was that it was one of, if not the best nighter we have been to in 2011.

Big thanks to Mike and Des for putting in all the time and effort that is required to make a nighter like this work and I'm really looking forward to more great Gloucester nighters in the new year :)

Adam.

PS. Though I didn't get downstairs much, everyone I spoke to about it had nothing but good things to say and appeared to have enjoyed themselves as much as I had upstairs.

Here's my two penny worth..........fri night oop stairs was top draw magraw......too often the thing that puts a lot of folk off is.....too much dergy type upfront stuff......folk playing only what they want and forgetting that it,s a night for upbeat dancing/vibe..........the thing that brings more folk in who would not normally go is a mix of known and unknown....without being boring...........last night was just that all dj,s singing from the same hymn sheet playing upbeat tunes none of this "l,ll play what l like and f**k em attitude".....result a top draw dancing night of soul.....it ain,t rocket science............man of the match KILLA he never fails to whip it up effortlessly, the man has it spot on...he opened with "ain,t that terrible" on karen (now thats proper imagination) and didn,t it sound gooood!!. DES was a close second for me well done......what was also nice was that dave A and begsey stayed in the same groove.....so that in the end you didn,t know who was djing at any one time......AS IT SHOULD BE.....anyone who previously thought upfront mean,t durge (and some times l would agree) they would have been brought down to earth with a bump on friday night, dispelling all their misgivings in one fell swoop.....next time....keep it the same style and ya quids in...........BE THERE OR BE SQUARE tezza

p.s only book dj,s who can play the same way............you know it makes sense

2

Tezza thats was a spot on look back so not much to add to that. I realy enjoyed the nite and had an 80/20 split on time spent up & down stairs for a mingle with old friends and to catch some grt niter tunes. Killa was the man who raised the bar and set the standard for the rest to follow. a ture niter DJ who knows wot required to keep the place Buzzin.Dr P mixed it up well as did Dave A and Begsey showing some versatilty from there useual sets of funk/latin so keeping the floor busy .looking forward to hearing wot they have in store for Burnley. finaly not forgeting me big buddy Danny Price who romped through his second set with some blinding uptempo tracks to complament Killas final set . So well done to all upstairs for making worth the trip and the punters who give there support to the niter long may it last.

See ya all next time.
