Right, so just to spell it out for anyone who is not clear what we do,

ar Soul Nights @ Bridgwater, the plan is that all d-j's play some tunes the punters may not have ever heard before

and the punters know and expect this so don't run off the floor in a terrified way when they don't recognise the intro of the next tune

they trust the d-j to be playing something they should be hearing

all original vinyl, accross the board, and errrrr that's it .

simples !

You must have eaten a shedload of pies since August mate, cos you didnt look that fat when we chatted at the Alldayer Jon. Have you been on steroids or something?

A week to go, and we're nearly on the front page

I must admit I think this new way of listing the threads in events is smart, but the suspense is killing me

hold the front page !!

Welcome to Admirals Rest

The Admirals Rest Guest House is an elegant Victorian building very close to the town centre. In Victorian times it was a Workhouse for the poor and orphaned of the area.

All our rooms are well proportioned and have en-suite or private facilities. They have tea making facilities, CTV, radio alarms, hairdryers and central heating. We have a private car park with plenty of space for guests cars. Children are especially welcome in our large family rooms, with a cot and high chair available for the very small.

A full English breakfast is included in the price.

Just a few minutes away there are good restaurants, a cinema, an indoor fun pool and all the local shops. The motorway is approximately 1 mile away offering easy access to Bristol and Exeter.

Bridgwater is the ideal base for exploring the West Country. Within half an hour you could be walking the Quantock Hills, lazing on the beach or shopping at a designer village

i have just started to do my Pulse Radio show (based in cheddar) live from the new studios there (previoulsy it was all pre recorded). With our license app pending we need to include more local content especially as we move away from syndicated stuff to live, so i gave this a plug on the show on Sunday (I also mentioned Mike E's friday night one as well, as almost local!). Sadly can't be there as in the States.

One of our very favourite nights on the calendar. Full of friends old and new, top quality music, great sound system and now that we've moved only 20mins up the road.

Pete's always been like an older brother figure and I particularly like the way he pulls all his DJ's to one side

and wispers " keep it OVO, have fun, try something new, use your head son and watch the floor, now on your way"

Or was that just me he said it to :g:.

Welsh contingent on the razz with us, so see you all there nice and early. :D

Happy 10th

Nice lively thread this, as you'd expect from the crowd that go to Soul Nights @ Bridgwater.

Just to remind everyone of another unique one- off aspect to this night THE FREECYCLE TABLE.

If you're not sure how this works;

you bring your no longer wanted soul / mod / scooter [and footie ] related stuff, if you have any, but it doesn't matter if you haven't

you take away other people's soul / mod / scooter [ and footie ] related stuff

all free of charges, absolutely nil, nada, zilch

errr that's it [ as Pete would say - Simples ! ]

See you all tonight

remember - no talc - or you'll have me to answer to

i felt really honoured when pete and cathy asked me to do a spot at there 10th anniversary and even more so when my better half agreed to go with me...the

day seemed to take ages to arrive but when it did the excitement started at 8am when we got up....we were due at there home for pre event drinks and food so

left in good time for the 2 and a half hour drive.....within 20 minutes of hitting the M4 there was plenty of traffic and me not being mr patient started to

panic...it was stop start all the way down to the turning for the M5...things cleared for a while before more traffic slowed us down so it was into the

services for a pit stop and a chill out....we were soon back on the rd and following the precise instructions from cathy as there home is...in the middle of

nowhere and with no phone signal directions needed to be spot on and they were....many of the guests were already then when we arrived including ginger and

christine, hannah, angela and a cpl of ppl i had never met....cathy is the perfect host and i was son chatting to pete and ginger with a cuppa in hand...carol

soon dissappeared and was soon engaged in girlie chat...bored i guess by the boys talkin records....soon after dr pickles and lou and tracy and andy bin soon

arrived and the get together was soon well underway....the hosts had layed on a fine spread fit for a posh wedding and it was time to tuck in...i tried to

hold back but found myself having a mexican stand off for the last sausage...after looking round the superb barn conversion which cathy sold to carol within

minutes it was time to head off to meet our company for the night...bob and ann from blandford....superb company as always

we arrived at the venue soon after opening time to find steve godfrey spinning the tunes and there were already a fair few ppl there....i remembered fromour

last visit ppl arrive before opening time...it wasnt long before i was putting my first tune on the decks and pete encourages the djs to play what they want

and to try and play something not heard at bridgwater before....a 30 minute spot soon goes and ginger was up next and played some tunes id never heard before

which was nice and when pete took over for his 30 minute set the venue was filling up nicely.....i was soon back on the decks and played some 6ts,7ts,rnb and

even a track from 2005...the crowd seemed to like my mix of tunes and showed there appreciation at the end of my spot...ginger followed me again and played

some real monster tunes that most of us only dream about owning...a real treat for the dancers who made great use of the dancefloor which im glad to say

remained talc free throughout..hope my video helped lolololol

pete ended the night as always and left the crowd wanting more which is how it should be and i was well pleased when he played jt parker just before the end

the whole lyster experience was superb from arrival at there home to the goodbyes at the end of the night...carol and i thankyou so much and carol wants to

thank all the ladies for making her feel so comfortable and yes i have to say...i dont know why shes with me either lolololol

bridgwater is definately a great night to attend wether your a dancer or a collector or just out for a quality social night with like minded soulies....no

handbaggers here im glad to say

always nice to see matt, wazz & wazzettesue and martin, steph and partner, tim and dundee ron and everyone else that made it for me a perfect night.....and i finally got to

meet up with mr willis

if you have never been to bridgwater then you are certainly missing out

regards moldie

Had a great night thanks to Pete and Cathy. Without talc worked fine, even though the floor was lethal in some spots. That must have been that Cathy bird with her polish and mop!!! rofl2.gif

Anyway, Happy 10th Anniversary to Bridgy yay!!!

Really liked all the toons played and was especially sweaty (eeeww!) so must have danced alot.

Always nice to see soul friends, especially Ian and Mel, Sara, all the plym and paignton posse.

Enjoyed the company of Mr Taylor and his charming wife and Simon as well although the conversation was a little modern(anyway obvious to guess who got biggest dinner in your house Pete) HaHa.

Heres to another 10yrs of one of the best soul nights in the country.

Quick message of thanks to all who came last Sat. night and not forgetting some of our regulars who could not make it and sent so many kind messages.

Great set from Steve Godfrey. And I've wanted Moldie on for quite a time and everyone who was there on Sat. night will now know why [ if they're not already familiar with his d-j ing]. Quality!

And Ginger played what I thought was his best spots at S.N.@ B. since he has been supporting us over the last 4/5 years; a superb collection of rare and unreleased stuff.

So to you lot who have supported us a very big thanks ; to the guys and gals from Hampshire, Dorset, Cornwall, Devon, South Wales, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, and everywhere else ! [ and of course especially to the Bridgwater crew ] , a big THANKS

................and a special mention to the work Moldie has done on the 2 you tube postings

is there anybody better at doing this and recording for posterity what the Northern scene is like at this moment, creating a record of what it was like to ' be there ' ?

we can all look back on this one day and say ' that is what we did ' , and ' this is how it really was '

good work fellah !!
