Me too Andy , late Saturday afternoon chill out session for me , wondering if we could perhaps have some more tables and chairs to make the room/ walk way a bit more inviting ?

Perhaps bar snacks could be eaten whilst listening to something slower to the whats playing in the main room ?

Be careful if using a car park our council likes to sting people for parking overnight. Cheapest car park is Seed Street although its uncovered. Hope you all stick around for Sunday Night session. Great weekend in store in The Worlds best Ballroom

jimmy, i always use the secure one above wilkinson's, i know its £14 for the weekend but its peace of mind and its probably the biggest and closest carpark to the tower if you happen to be using the travelodge in talbot square...at least there's no worries about clamping or fines

i have to appologize as i had forgot to mention, but all of you will be aware anyway, of the fact that this friday coming is armistice day...november 11th...it is also unique as its in the 11th year of this century and will not be witnessed again for another hundred years. im sure you dont need me to ask or remind you that we as soul brothers and sisters should wear our poppies with pride and i think it would be fitting if as many as possible are on display at the tower over the weekend. i hope you approve of this suggestion.

Setting out after work friday and should get to the Tower Ballroom around 8.30 .

Really looking forward to seeing the refurbished Tower and also having a giggle at the jokes that have been written in concrete.

Love Blackpool because we always see loads of mates from all over the UK at this event.

Hope we get some warmth in the alternative/something different area be it numbers or HEATERS :) I mean last week was like 25 degrees HOT HOT HOT , feeling the cold now .

There was I thinking it was going to be cold and wet , and what a shocker it turned out to be ! Lovely and warm and sunny .

Had a fab time catching up with many folk . The place was absolutely rammed nose to nose friday night. I have never seen such a packed event , this off course had a knock on effect on the amount of time it took to get a drink, something the managment may want improve upon. That was the only negative for me , everything else was very positive.

A big thanks to Rachel who has a retro clothes stall for supplying me with some much needed air cooling ( thought I was going to pass out with the heat) and thanks also for the pair of flat shoes that she supplied me with as a loan up to Midnight. You may have seen me barefootin when Ihad to return them.

I was so touched at Chris & Anns late birthday present to me, I forgot all about it , Ann is such a kind lady, to think of me and remember saying she had a great retro handbag for me last year , when currently she has so much to deal with getting through dealing with her very serious illness. I really did feel very humble emotional when she handed me the package , almost moved to tears with her kndness , witnessing such a brave lady with immense character.

Loved playing in the hallway with Browny and airing some of our fave records , thanks for allowing us the self indulgence John & Julie. I made a start on the chocolates last night and found them very enjoyable. Again a lovely thought that was much appreciated and not really expected , you know we should be thanking you for allowing us the self indulgence of playing OUR choice rather than what may be asked of us from the listener.

Blackpool is all the better for the much improvments that have been made , would like to see some sort coat leaving facility restored as I heard one lady had her jacket lifted by an opportunist but thankfully managed to collar the girl that nabbed it and get it back.

Must say it was the best Blackpool event I have ever attended , well done to all concerned

What I will mention is ...Look out for on coming traffic ! I got totally confused with the what looked to be the "other side of the road" being totally dedicated to TRAMS ! In Manchester I am used to a small tram line , Blackpool has four !

Crossed the road and didn't look left and was nearly flattened by an on coming coach ! Scary moment I can tell you, poor driver musty have nearly brought his breakfast up... I definataly hurt on the other side and lost one of my nine lives that day.

Sensational weekend @ the Tower. Credit to the promoters Richard & Kev , The Tower staff and all involved.

000s of estatic soulies from all parts of the UK and beyond .

Non - stop golden oldies delivered in the world class ball room - with moments of surprise and inspiration - take a bow Danny Clegg for finishing your sent with TNT Band ËœThe Meditationâ"žÂ¢ and how the dancers loved it . Loved the deck cams - for a minute I thought it was vintage film showing those iconic labels and tunes until the synchronisation to what was being played kicked in and a hand appeared on the screen clueing the next 45 in ¦..

Just up the road there was the NW heat for ËœBritainâ"žÂ¢s Got Talent Ëœ however the quality in the last 8 of the N S dance comp @ The Tower would have blown the other event's contestants away ¦.

Spent most of Sat on the Walkway - blown away by Rob Haigh playing the unreleased Isley Brothers ˜ Sure

is a lot of womanâ"žÂ¢ . Fabbo sets from all, varied & diverse which makes the Walkway sessions so captivating , not least Jay Cee making his debut with a Waterfront Blues N Soul Club (York) showcase . Particularly looking forward to the play lists being posted.

Great to catch up with so many, those Blackpool Tower 1st timers from York (still dancing when I left on Sunday evening) , Nige Brown & Carman, Ginger, John & Julie H (who did a magnificent job hosting the Walkway sessions again), that young upstart Sean Chapman lol, Steve Woomble, Dave and Pat West (big thanks for the cds) , Kris , Ian & Sue , Derek Mead , Sue & 'Ernie' Claxton , Sam Evans & Andy Baskett and Soul Sam - what a set he played on the Walkway. Only briefly popped down to The Circus which was my loss as the 7ts and modern gems I caught were simply uplifting.

Sure there were some bar Qs, though the inspired location of the additional bottle bar on one side of the ballroom and relocating the dealer stalls to the other and to the Walkway got rid of previous years congestion.

All in all it was a memorable weekender to treasure and for those who didn˜t find time to browse ˜the carpet˜ on the sea front immediately opposite The Tower entrance , next time there's a weekender or the all nighters @The Winter Gardens - its a recommended 'must do'

This was by far the best blackpool soul- weekender i'v been to in the last 5 years,There was a great atmosphere and it was full to the rafters but i think both bars should have been open right through but never mind we loved it and can't wait for the next one ..........

Many thanks for that kind comment. After seeing Sean play a couple of Latin soul earlier on and the floor loving it, i thought i would try something that maybe not everyone knew and what a record to finish my set, it deserves alot more spins out. Loved the weekend and Cams on the decks were great. Ive been to all of the November tower events and have never seen it so busy, even both balconys were full. Great to catch up with friends from all over and great vibe from all who were there. Great hearing Eugene sing such an iconic tune, Fantastic.

All in all a top top weekend

Well done to Kev, Richard and all involved and thanks for allowing my to spin some choons.

All the best

Fabulous Weekend. My first time at The Blackpool Weekender so I'd nothing to compare it to.

From the time I walked into the main room on Friday evening and saw it bouncing, I was blown away.

Saturday afternoon in The Circus was amazing, I never realised how much I like some of the more modern stuff.

The Walkway had something brilliant on every time I passed through, so I tended to hang about there and usually ended up dancing.

I even managed a trip to the top of The Tower - what a view!

All in all a brilliant time and definately returning next year.

A totally class production. What a great venue this is.

Blackpool itself is starting to shape up really well with all of the improvements, and this event gets better every year.

Had a great time, even though we could only do the saturday this year. We'll be doing the full weekend next year, no question.....

Its now Tuesday and my Legs are still aching from all the Dancing I put them through over the Weekend. I have to say most of the sets where great with one or two exceptional, some fantastic tunes as per usual. Even hed a few hours over the weekend in the Modern Room strutting my stuff fab fab fab!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to agree with one or two comments regarding the Bar and Cloakroom fiasco, I know it is nothing to do with Kevin & Richard but maybe next year a bit of pressure from them Both to get the Tower managment to put aside a room for hanging coats (I am sure most people would be willing to pay £1 to have them kept safe whilst enjoying themselves on the dancefloor).

As for the bar I am glad I had a couple before I got to the Tower, the queue when I got there was on the stairs as you walked into the main room! I have seen long queue's in previous years but never to that degree. I think they could take a lesson from the Bar staff at the MEN arena where they have people just pouring & others serving, I know not everyone drinks pints but I would guess that 80% of drinks sold were indeed pints. (Moan Overwith)

Will be going back next year for another dose of wall to wall soul, well done Kev & Richard Great weekend as Per Usual. And a big hello to all the youngsters who where strutting thier stuff over the weekend its really good to see that Soul Music is being appreciated by the younger generation, It was superb watching the younger ones in the compitition making it look very easy. Well done to Stephen Cootes on winning.

TOP SOUNDS PLAYED IN ALL ROOMS ALL WEEKEND

THE MANAGEMENT AT THE TOWER SHOULD HAVE A MAJOR LOOK AT THE BAR SERVICE THERE WERE THOUSANDS OF PUNTERS WANTING TO GIVE THEM POUND NOTES BUT DUE TO THE LACK OF BARS AND STAFF WE COULD NOT GIVE THEM OUR MONEY

IT MUST HAVE COST THEM 10K IN LOST REVENUE AT LEAST

DID NOT AGREE WITH A DJ ON FRIDAY NIGHT IN MAIN ROOM PLAYING SOLELY FROM CDS ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU HAVE YOCKY AND OTHER DJS FOLLOWING WITH A BOX FULL OF VINYL

GREAT MUSIC, GREAT PEOPLE ,TOP DANCERS GREAT WEEKEND

PITY THAT THE EARLY PART OF FRIDAY NIGHT WAS DOMINATED BY CD'S BEING PLAYED RATHER THAN VINYL. RIDICULOUS QUEUES FOR BAR.

it was my better halfs first time at a northern soul weekender and she made the most of it .

atmosphere was amazing , happy, friendly, smiling faces . my feet are almost back to full fitness after some blister surgery , but ready for the next one . it`ll probably be bridlington spa . luckily for me i live in bridlington , so no travelling . hope to see some faces there .
