Right have woke up a bit now and got rid of the thumping headache, which is usually the sign of a good night lol

Started early doors in the Bay horse for a pre-warm event snifter or two. Jez jones & Geese arrived and were booked in at the pub for B&B so that was a good start, once they`d got unloaded and got there bags upstairs [seemed to be a lot of "Clinking" coming from them bags mr jones lol] They then joined us for a drink in the bar before going off for something to eat. Paul clifford and his good lady then turned up, first time i`d met paul, just amazing how small a world the northern scene is once we got chatting. A few others turned up and before long the bay horse staff were run off there feet. 6.50 Arrived far too quickly and it was over to the club to get the night started. The missus started the night with her usual mix of underplayed goodies even getting the few early starters up dancing early on. More and more people came in, which is a suprise for the crescent, as usually people tend to frequent the numerous local watering establishments within easy access of the Crescent wmc, before coming in.

8.00PM soon came round and it was my turn to play a few for an hour, by this time the place was more than half full allready, and the dancefloor was allready begining to fill up, personally i like going on early as i can get the floor warmed up and people in the mood for the evening, also gives me a chance to play a few different things.

9.00pm  John boy walton turned up, unfashionably early for john, usually its the old......."Wheres john" over the mic, but not tonight, he was well up for it and his hour of mixed 60`s & 70`s tunes showed this, A top dj who knows how to work the floor and most impotantly to me as a promoter "USE THE MICROPHONE". By the time JEZ & GEESE came on at 10.00pm the place was HOT SWEATY & BOUNCING

Jez & Geese combined there efforts double deccking for half an hour before, doing half an hour seperate as was there request. Two FIRST CLASS GUEST DJ`S, who read the room perfectly, dancefloor full all the way through there guest spots & the refreshing thing was it wasn`t the usual fall back, play safe set which a lot of dj`s use in an unfamiliar enviornment, but just good thumping dancers which the crowd loved. By the time 11.30pm came round the place was alive with happy smiling faces shaking my hand thanking me for another great night at the Crescent.

But it wasn`t over Myself and my long term partner in Crime for many years Dave Smith, had the unenviable task of following our two guests.

So by this time my beer goggles were well and trully on, but the crowd as allways at the Crescent were well and trully up for it. And my old mate Dave dragged me through the spot some how lol, think we managed to play all the requests that were asked for, including a very special one for PETE NEIL & LIZ from Wigan for there recent engagement. As allways with the Crescent the night is all over too quickly, and the end was nigh with a full dancefloor and folks clapping and shouting for more.

Big thanks to all our Travelling friends from the north east, lancashire, south yorks, west yorks & scotland. Do hope all managed to get home safe and sound. Not forgetting our local support, who have been with us from our early days at the Junction. Special thanks to Kenny wallis for his continued help with the promotion of the event. Also must give Alf and Jean a mention, as we know Jean is going through her own personal battle with a serious illness, but still managed to turn up. Tried to have at least a word or two with most folks, including a very drunk conversation with Ron pedley, if i missed anyone, sorry i can only blame the copius amounts of lager consumed lol . The hanshakes and the thanks at the end of the night make a job that can sometimes be a thankless one all wothwhile.

After all although we play the music.................YOU LOT MAKE THE PLACE WHAT IT IS................FANTASTIC NIGHT..........................MANY MANY THANKS.....................NXT DATE NOVEMBER 12TH GUEST DJ MR TONY EVANS [sTOKE]

Another great night at the Crescent we arrived at 9 for John boy’s hour he was on top form, truly a soulful guy, Jez and Geese top guys, played brilliant sets, wall to wall stormers, not forgetting Harry and Dave’s spots. The Crescent is a top venue with an honest music policy, pure Northern and judging by the attendance that’s what the crowd want.

The wife and I had decided to start going out out a "bit more local" to save on ever increasing petrol costs etc, and decided on The Crescent as a good place to start, especially as Jez & Geese were coming up from Stoke to do a spot.

We arrived early enough to pop into the Bay Horse for a pint or too before the venue opened. Met Harry & Di for the 1st time, along with Mick, John boy etc, what a great bunch of people! As Harry mentioned above, the scene is pretty small and we soon worked out that we all knew a lot of the same people - going back MANY years!

We went over to catch the majority of Di's opening set, some great tunes there Di (I even had a dance!)

Harry picked the pace up a bit, and as I said at the time it was nice to hear a few rarer alternative versions of well known tunes, and the room was starting to fill up nicely by the time John Boy came on at 9pm to play an absolutely storming set of oldies.

This is an oldies night without a doubt, thats what the crowd want at thats what they get, good, not overplayed oldies, with the odd forgotten youth club tune tossed in for good measure! The dance floor was pretty busy for almost all of John Boys set, and Jez and Geese came on at 10 and made sure they kept them there! They read the crowd perfectly, each doing a half hour, then finishing with half hour of Torch tunes playing back to back, the croed loved it! Although there were a few disappointed faces at the lack of any mankini wearing!

We left at around 11.45 due to work comittments and babysitters, but we had a bloody great night, met some fantastic people and made a few new friends - think this is going to be our local monthly night out from now on!

Well, well well----cant add too much more to what has already been said about this 'gem' of an event--------but I will anyway!!!!!

Many many thanks to Harry and Di for inviting us firstly----perfect hosts----hats off to ya folks!!

Credit where credit is due they have in place here an absolute 'bang on' soul night. All the right ingredients for a 'if Carlsberg did soul nights' event

Emphasis on FUN----I had to keep checking to see if my zip was down--cos everywhere you went in there people were smiling. Priivilige to play to such a great crowd

So so glad we booked a room to stop over----lets us join in with the atmos.

Great to see again some old 'soul-diers' and meet some new 'uns as well

Harry and Di and of course not forgetting Dave are clearly very passionate and proud of this event---and RIGHTLY SO!!!!

I would urge those that have never been to give this a go---plenty of soul fanatics, plenty of dancing fanatics and plenty of --err well fine times fanatics--all under one roof , giving it their best shot

Music aimed-- like an exocet straight at the dancefloor.

......I know Tony and he'll bloody love it here in November.... no doubt about that!!

Thanks to everyone that came and made our night here very very special indeed. ---pat yerselves on the back----fine times indeed!!!

Didn't we have a luvverly time the day we went to..................YORK!!!

...oh if ya want i can pass the 'mankini' on to Tony......................................
