We've packed the party themes, balloons & banners away and will be returning to our home venue "The Canal Tavern" soon for the next Boomerang explosion of soul.

Dyson, Welding and Fenn will be tasked with bringing out the uplifting emotion from your hearts and exciting moves from your soles. We're so looking forward to enjoying the great soul music they'll be serving up in the newly refurbished venue we love so much.
...Mmmmm, sounds like comfort and pleasure all at once - I can't wait!

The Canal Tavern re-opened its doors to the public last night after a full refurbishment following the severe August flooding.

Both Karen & I have each already snuck off for a sneak preview ...
both excited to see the venue again - a place that has seen so many smiles and great soul sounds, with wonderful staff who have showed us such loyalty and really tried to look after everyone's needs.

The refurbishment reaction > WOW!!! ...and we just hope everyone else loves it too.

Their new website has a link to the brand new menu : http://www.canaltavernthorne.co.uk/ (Grab a meal in the restaurant or drink in the bar, before the function room opens for the Boomerang soul night from 8pm)

m

p.s. I can recommend the steak fajitas ..yum!

I'm looking forward to seeing the newly refurbished Canal Tavern, I hope the food served is still as good as it was. I'll be coming up with Rbman to hear some good music and see our friends. Boomerang is the best soul club in the UK imo, always a great night.

You just focus on that box you're bringing along Mr Welding ...LOL.

As this is now a bit of a grand occasion, I have decided to start the musical proceedings in the function room. That way, all can enjoy their meals in the dining room that little bit longer and then come rushing through to be musically spoilt rotten by our DJ guest, DJ guest, DJ guest...!

The line-up each gets a 30min & 45min spot, times as below :

08:00pm - Maria O (45min)

08:45pm - Dave Welding (30min)

09:15pm - Arthur Fenn (45min)

10:00pm - Andy Dyson (30min)

10:30pm - Maria O (30min)

11:00pm - Dave Welding (45min)

11:45pm - Arthur Fenn (30min)

12:15pm - Andy Dyson (45min)

-- 1am close --

Looking forward to the all new and dry Canal Tavern, complete with the finest DJs the NHS has ever supported and allowed back into the community. All of this and the best corned beef pie and mushy peas in the land....what more can you want ?

Nat's been helping me with Movember and she'll be proud to show that women's moustaches can look good too...... all contributions to this worthy cause will be gratefully received on the night... http://uk.movember.com/mospace/

Camera battery on charge, Arthur's pressed his tux and I'm off to the Barber's soon to finally take care of my headmop

Worthy cause, Boomerang virgin, MickH's hand, NHS supporters, hungry mouths, dripping soulies and the rest - duly noted.
Oh, and the "Boomerang Vinyl Cave" area is now fully booked too! 8-)

See ya soooooooooooish,

The usual mix of top quality tunes and fun company as expected in the all new Canal Tavern... such a top night with DJs let loose to play from the heart...can't be bettered.

A great big thanks to you lovely, generous people for giving £105.70 and two sachets of mustard to my Movember charity and comedy moustache appeal. Just in case you were like Debbie and thought my top lip hair growth was a mid-life cry for help... here's the website which explains my Inspector Frost impression.... thanks Ian.

"... here's the website which explains my Inspector Frost impression...."

I know you were aiming for a finely waxed Poirot Cliff but it looked more like Inspector Clouseau from where I was stood, then again you could subconsciously be aligning yourself with a few of the characters from the new "Tin Tin" movie as from what I can recollect there's a lot of wierd geezers sporting facial hair in that "blockbuster"!

Well done Cliff and I agree, a good time had by all.

Have a spiffing time in Barcelona (a facial hair hotbed from what I can remember, which isn't much if I'm honest).

A really great evening again at the Canal Tavern. Thanks to Martin for driving. We had an excellent meal in the refurbished Tavern, rib-eye steak, chips, veg, bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon, £30 for the two of us, really good. The staff at the Tavern are always friendly and professional, a pleasure to visit it.

Nice to see so many of my friends again. Musically very good, thanks to Arthur and Andy for playing my requests. Some of my favourite tunes played (Shake Sheri, My Love Is Strong, Good Times Bad Times, things That A Lady Ain't Supposed To Do, Feminine Ingenuity, I'm Yours, etc).

The only thing I must remember next time is to put some talc in my bag, I needed it on the dance floor, and so did Martin, assume we're not the only ones, and I don't normally need it.

I thought the sound was better with the different layout of the room.

And like Miss Nancy my legs were aching a bit next morning, in fact I had a bit of a limp walking back to the Thorne Central Guest House.

Well done to all concerned, we've already booked our accommodation for each night in 2012.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE who came along on Saturday. Our guest DJs Andy, Dave and Arthur gave us their all (...and hope we get some playlists up here soon).

For those who have joined the "Friends of Boomerang" facebook page - the photos from Saturday are now posted up!
http://www.facebook..../boomerangsoul/

Karen and I have taken all comments onboard and as always, will do our best to give you the best soul night we can.

Dates for next year are posted above - and upcoming guest DJs will start being added to our website in the coming week or two,
m

p.s. Please give what you can to Cliff's charity appeal - especially as he is shaming himself to help raise money and fight cancers that many men won't even talk about (let alone check for)

Second Issue

First time at Boomerang after a long lay off and some great tunes spun, old and new. I ought to hang my head in shame with the venue being on my doorstep and never having visited over the years, even in the days of the Shadows team. You live and learn. Friendly crowd and a thoroughly enjoyable night. Thanks to Andy D for the lift,Chalky for the anecdotes and company, big up to Cliff for his valiant attempt to grow a tash and "hello" to his charming Mrs Natalie who was more tipsy than me on he night. Now there's a first.!

Again Boomerang showed why it is currently my favourite soul night, top music, great company and lovely buns too :D

Hope it isn't too long before we see you again Gav and good to meet Miss Nancy as well.

Well done to Cliff as well, firstly for coming out with what he had on his top lip and secondly for raising some dosh for a worthy cause
