Both Karen & I have each already snuck off for a sneak preview ...both excited to see the venue again - a place that has seen so many smiles and great soul sounds, with wonderful staff who have showed us such loyalty and really tried to look after everyone's needs.
The refurbishment reaction > WOW!!! ...and we just hope everyone else loves it too.
Their new website has a link to the brand new menu : http://www.canaltavernthorne.co.uk/ (Grab a meal in the restaurant or drink in the bar, before the function room opens for the Boomerang soul night from 8pm)
m
p.s. I can recommend the steak fajitas ..yum!

You just focus on that box you're bringing along Mr Welding ...LOL.
As this is now a bit of a grand occasion, I have decided to start the musical proceedings in the function room. That way, all can enjoy their meals in the dining room that little bit longer and then come rushing through to be musically spoilt rotten by our DJ guest, DJ guest, DJ guest...!
The line-up each gets a 30min & 45min spot, times as below :
08:00pm - Maria O (45min)
08:45pm - Dave Welding (30min)
09:15pm - Arthur Fenn (45min)
10:00pm - Andy Dyson (30min)
10:30pm - Maria O (30min)
11:00pm - Dave Welding (45min)
11:45pm - Arthur Fenn (30min)
12:15pm - Andy Dyson (45min)
-- 1am close --
*** TO RESERVE SALES TABLES, please POST up your request or message either of us by Friday ***
We also kindly request that event flyers only be left on the FLYER TABLES and not on every table to soak up the booze & stick, as new 'posh' rules apply to our newly refurbished surroundings.

A great big thanks to you lovely, generous people for giving £105.70 and two sachets of mustard to my Movember charity and comedy moustache appeal. Just in case you were like Debbie and thought my top lip hair growth was a mid-life cry for help... here's the website which explains my Inspector Frost impression.... thanks Ian.

I know you were aiming for a finely waxed Poirot Cliff but it looked more like Inspector Clouseau from where I was stood, then again you could subconsciously be aligning yourself with a few of the characters from the new "Tin Tin" movie as from what I can recollect there's a lot of wierd geezers sporting facial hair in that "blockbuster"!
Well done Cliff and I agree, a good time had by all.
Have a spiffing time in Barcelona (a facial hair hotbed from what I can remember, which isn't much if I'm honest).

Nice to see so many of my friends again. Musically very good, thanks to Arthur and Andy for playing my requests. Some of my favourite tunes played (Shake Sheri, My Love Is Strong, Good Times Bad Times, things That A Lady Ain't Supposed To Do, Feminine Ingenuity, I'm Yours, etc).
The only thing I must remember next time is to put some talc in my bag, I needed it on the dance floor, and so did Martin, assume we're not the only ones, and I don't normally need it.
I thought the sound was better with the different layout of the room.
And like Miss Nancy my legs were aching a bit next morning, in fact I had a bit of a limp walking back to the Thorne Central Guest House.
Well done to all concerned, we've already booked our accommodation for each night in 2012.

For those who have joined the "Friends of Boomerang" facebook page - the photos from Saturday are now posted up!
http://www.facebook..../boomerangsoul/
Karen and I have taken all comments onboard and as always, will do our best to give you the best soul night we can.
Dates for next year are posted above - and upcoming guest DJs will start being added to our website in the coming week or two,
m
p.s. Please give what you can to Cliff's charity appeal - especially as he is shaming himself to help raise money and fight cancers that many men won't even talk about (let alone check for)
