Well, what a great night AGAIN!!!, At easington welfare. The lads from Yorkshire did us proud, as did all the dj`s last night. The place was bouncing from start to finish. Big, Big thanks to Gordon & Steve from the north east who as usual played great sets. Some fantastic music played in the other room as well. All in all a hugh success last night. Last one of the year from us, so it only leaves me to say......A BIG, BIG THANKYOU for all your support over the last twelve months.

A VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS & A PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL.

A big Big Thankyou to the Easington crowd who made us very welcome and reminded me why im proud to be from the northeast

Johnty...without the food, bed, more food id have been buggered your and lesleys hospitality was way over the call of duty but then again i wont say no to a bed when i come up in February maybe i buy the grub as a payback. and thats where i start my speech.

Im going to get off my Lard of an Arse and travel from Barnsley each time this event is on and support it whole heartedly...Why.....heres the rant and i dont give a flying fook who takes umbridge.

Theres venues that are done purely for business usually for the greedy promoter, theres collectors who do venues coz they want their wares heard ,like me and mr whiteley did with the friendship.

but then there is these guys and gals who are a team of people to be commended highly, i feel that the local area as far as Newcastle Middlesborough and beyond should support en mass, cause there but for the grace of god goes my town.... but one that has started to fight back with passion, Not only are they doing this to hear their music they are also doing this to save a way of life that is all but lost since the mining industry and all the other industries that supported mining were lost,

They are investing all their spare time to restore the welfare hall, there is support for the all people in the surrounding areas, theres IT room for the locals to come in and use computers, staff working at night on the bars who are volunteers so that hall can survive and the area can have a place to meet greet and retain something that is dissappearing rapidly across the UK...........its called community.

I was taken aback by the passion of all the Easington team who enthusistically told me what they were doing with the hall, all the efforts they were making and time (and in some cases money) they were spending, to get things together. all that they make is re-invested towards projects for the hall and town but they need more support. in reality The music took second place to their passion for their way of life and their town but they are using their second passion to Save it...... Their love of soul music

The venue is a wonderful place the main ballroom is thee ideal Northern room, and the small room is the quintessential alternative room for Modern or whatever theme is on for that night. it is a perfect soul venue

Im a Northern Lad with 25 years living in Yorkshire and i was absolutely bowled over towards the end of the night because every single person who came and supported the night and was on their way home had the courtesy to say ..THANK YOU on their way out a thing that is lost at many a venue and the Easington Team are likewise greatly thankfull to all who attend (some at every event) because not only are they supporting the night they are supporting Easington as a whole.

I travelled up to my parents house in Howden on sunday afternoon in quite high traffic and it took 13 minutes ( now that the tyne tunnel is fully open) the venue is 1 minute from the A19 it couldnt be easier to get too even from North of the Tyne (Whey aye man),

So I for one can be counted in as a supporter in February i'll gladly put my money to a venue that wants to put something back into something far more valuable than records or self appreciation...its called human beings

Ian....Geeeeeeoooordie....Johnson

Ian your comments are gratefully accepted and will spur us on as a team to make this a bigger and better venue

Without djs like yourself and every other dj who have graced this special venue over the ten years it has been running as a northern venue it would not have been possible.

The aim of the welfare trustees who do a splendid job keeping this building running on limited reserves on a daily basis deserve the accolades without them and a recently departed dear friend they have thrown there time and efforts in for years to see the welfare stay open for the community.

More so the paying customers who come to support us I CANT THANK YOU ENOUGH WITHOUT YOU THERE WOULD BE NO VENUE

We look forward to seeing everyone in the new year so all the best to everyone & have a great holiday

All the very best

john
