Here's the directions for the travelers from the M62 - M606, follow these and you'll find it dead easy!

If you have sat navs then just type in the postcode, its only a couple of minutes from the motorway network.

At the end of the M606, take the Ring Road East, turn Left and drive past McDonalds

You will then pass Yorkshire Building Society, continue straight forward over the next roundabout, go past Asda & The Cross Keys Pub all on your left

At the next Roundabout take the first left A650 (City Centre)

Go past The Gallopers Pub on your left to the roundabout and take the second exit, when you see The Churchill Pub on your right, turn immediate left onto Leicester Street. There are some new build town houses here now which may obscure the street sign. (ive phoned the council and asked them to put a new street sign up for those who have never been before)

Please Note... There Are two Clubs On Leicester Street, go to the second club on your right.

The entrance to The Presidents Suite is the second door down the right hand side of the venue (its the double doors as per my avatar pic, it looks like the netrance to an air raid shelter...lol), you do not need to go into the main club.

The main car park is at the rear left hand side of club and there are also additional car parking spaces all around the venue.

Tunes getting sorted now, allsorts planned, proper northern, R&B, bit of latin and maybe even a track with a strong Johnny Cash influence (in a good way, you'll see what I mean, don't cringe, you'll like it I promise - I hope. Pudsoul knows what I mean)

Hey Paul,

As I've been bit 83 times !! by mosquito's, on my recent visit to the States (yes the ruddy States of all places, I blame Hurricane Irene :ranting_1: ) I somewhat resemble a lizard, so please will you ensure that no-one plays The Snake & hurts my feelings :(

I'm slapping the cream on as we speak, I had to cancel my Friday night out cos of my love bites, so I'm hoping & praying that they go down by tomorrow, otherwise I'll be turning up like an Egyptian mummy wrapped in many bandages, mind you, then someone could play "Nights over Egypt" for me or "Pyramid" :D

See you later

Hi darling

You will be pleased to know that I've stopped itching like a flea bitten mongrel. I still look pretty gruesome :( , but the inflammations have gone down (hey great name for a group, The Inflammations lol) so with quite a thick layer of plaster, I should be able to hide some of them, and avoid putting people of their sunday dinners, also no need for bandages Whey Hey!!! I'd still like someone to play Pyramid though, if they have it :o)))

Re: Dexter - I almost bumped into him again. I'll tell you more later :o)

I hope Paul will be wearing his extra cushioned pants for when we give him his 50 bumps :wicked:

I'm soooo looking forward to tonight

See you later

Tell me about it

The weather was mixed while out there, most days were very pleasant, other's not, but on the Tue coming home a tropical storm hit Philly. My gosh I've never seen rain like it & it was really strange landing in Manchester to better weather

The Hurricane just better hold off till Monday as I'm off to see the Kaiser Chiefs at Kirkstall Abbey on Sunday night with my dad (his idea, not mine) & I don't own a pair of ruddy welly's

See you & Karen tonight for Hurricane East Bowling

I couldn't make last night cos of my flea bites :( so when we chat tonight, please be kind & tell me how rubbish it was (even though I know it wasn't)

I'm gonna make up for last night's "no show" by going absolutely bonkers tonight

See you both later

  I think they're going to have to keep it for a while as it's the brand name and all the c.d's/merchandise have it on. It felt daft/still does to extent saying we're going to the "Southport Weekender" in Minehead lol but I'm happy clutching on to the word "Southport" as I had many amazing times there over the last 20 years, and I think even if they did re-name it "Minehead Weekender" people would still call it "Southport" if that makes sense :hypo:

Paul has an open deck policy so anything (within reason) goes. I'm sure there's a few who would like some "Southport" tunes, not necessarily Soulful house, as you will know, that it started out as a "Soul" Weekender so any soul tunes from back then would be great  & wouldn't clear the floor, and if they did, you could blame it all on me & say that was a request for the pest that is Alison Hamilton :D All the folk who attend East Bowling are really friendly, and don't take life, or the soul world too serious.

I'm sure whatever you play will go down a storm

Paul you must have one big smile on your face today, best night EVER at EBUC. the place was buzzing when we arrived at 9-30ish, It was great to catch up with Paul Brennan again, you have been missed pal. OD laugh a minute, and big thanks to Martyn Bird for cd's cant wait to play them, and we never have to mither you again now :o)

Not sure who the dj was when we arrived but he played some nice tunes, followed by Arnie who played a crackin spot, very Burnley influenced (may have to mither you for a cd now), Think it was 00-30 when Paul Shirley entered the stage........and blew the f*in roof off. The dance floor was heaving to each and every awesome record he played, even people stood around the room was dancing where they stood. I've always rated Paul as one of the best dj's on the scene, but he excelled himself last night for sure. (even though he thinks I SPY FOR THE FBI). lol. I'm sure you got a few more members to the Paul Shirley fan club last night. Last man on Mick Howard who kept the dancers up and played one of the best spots i've heard him play, looking forward to hearing him at Southport with the 'Burscough Boys'.

So all in all fantastic night Paul Harris (too many bleedin' Paul's) sorry to Ste and Pat for staying till the end, had'nt planned to but did'nt want to leave. Have a fabulous holiday Paul and a very happy birthday on the day.

Sandy

Well what an amazing night it was, so good to see so many great mates joining the party!

Huge thanks to you all for coming and enjoying yourselves, people traveled from all over the place and I really appreciate the effort you made. Thanks for all the cards, gifts, cash and lottery tickets...lol

I loved it, the people, the tunes, it all helps to create that special atmosphere we always seem to get at EBUC

DJs, absolutely superb spots, each one complimented the others, you all brought some fantastic soulful tunes to the table, well done.

I'll put some photos up later when my hangover has gone...lol

The next event is Saturday 8th October...hope to see you there!

cheers

Great way to celebrate your birthady looked like you were having a ball.

All dj's were on fire, the quality was top draw all night from walkin in to leaving near the end.Thought Mick playing The Dells was a stroke of genius, just worked perfectly. Our gang gets a little bigger each time as the words spreading & once they come the only question asked is "when's the next one".

So Happy Birthday Paul.

Cheers

Great to see you all again and thanks for your support x

Brilliant night, really enjoyed our second visit to EBUC. The friendly folk and fantastic music have this place buzzin'. There's just a feel good atmosphere about this place that makes it special and from now on it's going to be a 'must attend' for us.

Arrived to hear the back end of Mark Windles spot, never heard him play before, but realised we must have missed some good stuff, confirmed on reading his playlist and lots on there new to us. Neil Topliss played a blinder, quality up tempo, never heard him play before either. Paul Shirley and Mick Howard, both great dj's from our neck of the woods, kept the floor busy and us happy with top drawer tunes till chucking out time. Loved every minute and looking forward to the next.

I'll try keep this brief

I had an incredible night on Saturday, what a great turn out for the old git's 50th !! mind you, had it not been Paul (of Harris) birthday, it would have still been an incredible night with the great d.j choice, and all the funny folk in attendance, I'm sure they put something in the water there as I'm usually well behaved :)

Brilliant music through-out Sorry that I missed half of your spot Mark, but thanks for the next instalment of Windle Soul, what a damn sexy c.d it is, that Buddy Ace track is ACE!!! & even though it sounds Bland, it's not Bobby. I'm really enjoying the c.d, so cheers mate

Sandy - I want to be in the Paul (of Shirley) Fan Club - plus I can bring other fans, all colour coordinated  Nice to meet you, Paul (of Shirley), and not bicker over the Rugby, though it was a high tackle :D I loved your spot & our chat about Soulful House :shhh:

Great to see Pat & Cat - & look forward to seeing you both again

Paul (of Brennan) - You just BETTER go to the next Wilton!! :ranting_1:

Kim - thanks for the fan to add to my collection

Rosemary - I loved the Leslie Brigitte Nielson hair, you'll have to let me know if it's true :wicked:

Helen & John - lovely to see you both again, and an extra big hug for John, thinking of you

Big kiss to Karen, for having bigger balloons than me, and letting me join in sexually harassing the Harris :wicked:

I could go on forever listing folk (but I best not) as everyone in that venue helped make this night an extra special one.

Really chuffed for you, Paul of Harris, Happy Birthday when it comes, and don't be getting too sun burnt on your holiday (hope you packed the insect repellent)

See some of you (hopefully all of you) at the next un

Bye for now

Ali
