Another night of rare/underplayed 50s/60s r&b,early soul and club soul, ska, jamaican r&b at our "Back to the Roots" nights which pay homage to the original all-nighter underground scene of the early/mid sixties. The venue is underneath an 1823 Manor House.A proper, thick stonewalled, windowless cellar-bar with a warren of rooms, made for people of the night. 5 minutes from all the restaurants and bars of the city centre but set in its own quite street with a council carpark to the rear.Entry by pre-bought tickets only.Limited to 120.Join our email priority notice of ticket sales list (like a free membership).adlibsoul@yahoo.co.uk If you are lucky enough to get a ticket for the night the venues address is Unison Cellar-Bar,Beaumont Manor,Beaumont Fee,Lincoln ln1 1ez Tickets £3.50p each. Payment details when booking. We are an early start venue (doors open for pre-gig drinks 6.30)with the djs playing from 7.00 until 12.ish (usually play on until 12.15).The six resident djs double-deck and a half-hour spot ,9.30 to 10.00,is offered to serious collector/djs who regularly support us .We call this spot "up for the "craic"of it.It isn't a guest spot as such as that implies an outsider coming in just to play a set.It is more of an effort to keep our nights club oriontated and intimate and letting one of our own"showcase what they have to offer. There are already a number of these guys in the frame for future nights.

This event is now over. Look up now to read the latest reviews of this soul event

Hoping this night moves our little club up another notch Pete.Always a sell-out.Always a terrific "club"atmosphere.Always a mix of ages .Always lots of knowledgeable djs/collectors supporting us and wanting to play out at this really unique venue. With trying out the extra decks in the lounge room we are able to invite more of our regular support to showcase their own events whilst giving their "take"on the early scenes' more chilled- out tracks. These djs really do join in the spirit of the night for what it's about-spreading the early r&b,soul, doowop,Jamaican r&b,ska, hammond sounds to a whole new generation and hopefully playing some "new - to the - ears"tracks to the army of experienced soul/r&b faithfull who support the scene all over the country. So to recap : 1823 windowless original stone-walled cellar- bar underneath Lord Beaumonts Manor House.Council carpark to the rear.City centre location but in a quite road.2 rooms of music.10 djs.Rare film projections onto the cellar walls. All for £3.50p.

All that's left to say is to get "suited and booted" or smart casual and to get to the venue early as we don't have warm up djs-we go straight into the rare/underplayed.Thanks to you all.The Ad-Lib Crew.

Our first visit and we weren't disappointed!Brilliant sounds and felt like we were back in the 6t's.Roll on the next one. It

would be good to know what some of the sounds were, perhaps a playlist or even the dj's having a mike ?

Thanks for your inputs on the thread.Pleased to say Joe,Linda,Pete and Av behaved theirselves and did leave the place in tact !!

Hi Sharon and Nick.I knew you would enjoy the night after speaking to you when you phoned up for your tickets. We do usually have a mic but when the sound system guy realised it wasn't with the gear he sent someone off to get it.As far as i recall the mic this guy brought wasn't compatible with the system. My responsibility so i do apologise.Hope you can make Dec 10th (get your tickets asap as 60 have gone already.07989 717 043 or email adlibsoul@yahoo.co.uk)

Hi Pete, one of the reasons we decided on the lounge decks was that later on after buying drinks folk would go into the main room and finding tables and seats full( and not being able to put their drinks down so they could dance)would end up forming a barrier between the dance-floor and those seated. It did seem to work regarding being able to meet and chat to a lot of folk who hadn't been to our night before. It seemed to free up more space on the dance-floor.We will see how it goes in December.

Finally Joe.What can i say? Your "craic"spot covered all the bases on your take on the early scene.14 tracks in 30 minutes following Ad-Libs music policy to the "t".Thanks to Allan Swires for finding me and telling me to get into the main room as ,and i quote,"Joes playing some cracking records in there".Thanks also Joe for putting your playlist on here for us.I do ask the other djs to put theirs down but ultimately it's up to them.I will copy and paste Joes playlist onto the Ad-Lib Facebook Page (where there are pics and a couple of videos of the night)so hopefully some of the other djs will post their lists.

Special mentions to Glenn (Hull),Clive Read (Crewe) and Kev Kuss (Sheffield)who played terrific mid-tempo and chill-out tunes to a really appreciative crowd.Extra thanks to Kev for Double-Decking with Christian Scott in the main room at such short notice.

Lots of new ideas spinning around my head for the December night.Hope you can make it and thanks again for all your support Glenn
