Conjures images of passionate DJs playing the very best in quality, danceable, underplayed 60 / 70s soul.
No restrictions.

Dancers and DJs expressing themselves through the medium of Soul

Lots of ............
"have a listen to this, I think this is brilliant"
"I've not heard this in ages"
"I'd forgotton how good that was"
"I've been dancing so much I think I'm going to die"

Can't wait.

Hi Smudge,

The badges are 9cm.

Perhaps an idea to lift it less often, or don’t wear your best shirt while partaking in this activity, then a patch wouldn’t be required.

Cheers Phil

Hi,

Just found out that:

The Assembly Rooms own car park is having essential works carried out on certain floors; which will leave the car park with reduced capacity for parking however there will still be some spaces available to customers.

The below details are from the Derby City Website, I can’t guarantee overnight parking fees but they will give you a good idea.

Car Parks Near The Assembly Rooms

Park Safe Systems Ltd Bold Lane DE1 3NT -- Capacity 440 -- Overnight Cost £6.70 -- Approx 3 mins walk from venue

Assembly Rooms AT The Venue DE1 3AF -- Capacity 214 -- Overnight Cost £5

Council House On the roundabout between Full St & Derwent St -- Capacity 66 -- Overnight Cost Free -- Approx 1 min from venue

Westfield Riverside Traffic Street/St Alkmund's Way -- Capacity 959 -- Overnight Cost £1.80 -- Approx 3 mins walk from venue

Chapel Street Chapel St DE1 3GU -- Capacity 524 -- Overnight Cost £3 -- Approx 3 mins walk from venue

Please note The nearby Westfield Basement & Westfield Centre car parks are not open 24Hrs.

Cheers, Phil

Joan,
The Met Office says it WILL snow in our travelling routes to Derby and likely snow depths will be between 2cm to 10cm
also there could well be ice too on Sunday morning,so be advised Peeps there will probably be traffic disruption and
plan your routes carefully and take care,we don't want any accidents. :excl: :excl: :excl:

I am still coming and will have plan-A plus two back-up's,i am not missing this one,the show must go on.

Joan, The Met Office says it WILL snow in our travelling routes to Derby and likely snow depths will be between 2cm to 10cm  also there could well be ice too on Sunday morning,so be advised Peeps there will probably be traffic disruption and plan your routes carefully and take care,we don't want any accidents. :excl: :excl: :excl: I am still coming and will have plan-A plus two back-up's,i am not missing this one,the show must go on. Safe driving everyone and see you there.

I am so very sorry for not making last nights allnighter at Derby, I set off at 7.20pm from my home in Little Bridgeford Staffs. It had been snowing heavily since early afternoon and the roads were bloody awful. It took me four attempts to even get up the hill. Once on the road to Stafford I realised how bad it was, but I thought if I can get to the M6 I would be OK - wrong!! This was even worse with the blizzard conditions and one lane traffic travelling at 20mph, I stopped off at Stafford Services a few miles up later and had a phone call from Dr Pickles to ask what the conditions were like. I continued to, as far as J15, where everything was grid-locked on both sides of the motorway. I eventually got off the motorway on to the A500 but soon realised that with cars abandoned and lorries jack-knifed I was going nowhere. Going back on the M6 was a no-go, so I took the next right to Eccleshall, BIG Mistake!! I managed to travel about 2 miles until I could not travel any further, My campervan is rubbish at hills!! I then sat there for over an hour with cars trying to pass me and given me funny looks. Eventually I managed to turn the van around and got back to the A500, fantastic it looked clear, I will have another go - BIG mistake!! After a couple of miles, everything again had come to a grinding halt, abandoned cars, lorries jack-knifed and A50 - not on your nelly!! I then spent another hour in traffic trying to get off the A500 to turn around and try get home!! Home, warmth, slippers, jim jams and cocoa!! I eventually got home at midnight having travelled about 35 miles! So once again a massive apologises to Phil and everyone for not getting there, I am so gutted!!!!! To everyone who got there well done and I hope you had a great night. Best Sean Chapman.

After thinking long and hard we rang Phil at 6.30pm with the intention of saying we weren't going to make it. We did in fact say that but rang him back a few minutes later to say we would give it a go.

Set off from our house at about 7.30pm and the M6 was completely clear, not a flake of snow anywhere. Had to come off at J20 because of an accident, so we were bumper to bumper for over an hour until we got back on the motorway the other side of Knutsford. Once again, the road was clear until we came off at J16 and onto the A500 and then it was like fecking McMurdo only with the addition of abandoned cars, vans and lorries everywhere. Saw a multi car pile up happen in front of our eyes on the opposite side of the carriageway. Didn't look too serious but scary non the less.

Carried on to the roundabout where you get on the A50 but my nerves couldn't stand it any further. It was pitch black down there and had no idea what we would be facing so we carried on round and headed back home.

Back on the M6 and roads were fine and the only sign of snow was what could be seen in the fields. How mad is that? Stopped at Keele services for a calm down and to ring Phil to let him know we wouldn't make it. By now it was about 11.45pm. Walked back in the house at 1.30am.

In all the years I have been travelling to venues I have never known a road as scary as that one last night. I really hope everyone is safe and no one had an accident.

Sorry Phil.

3 hours to get to Derby,Mansfield's roads shocking, they must be saving the gritting for Monday morning.Stuck in a one and a half hour jam near Little Eaton roundabout on A38.When we got past the holdup it was a lorry the couldnt get up the gradient, another broke down, and a car had be side swiped.
Amazingly when we arrived there were quite a few others nutters who had made it.
Hats off to all.A very enjoyable night.

Just short of 5 hours to get there from Bolton, instead of going down the M6 to Stoke and then accross to Derby, I thought it might be a good idea to go the long way round M60 M62 M1 and keep off the A roads as much as possible, big mistake, an hour and a half to do the first 10 miles on the M60, got there about 11pm had a very enjoyable few hours,

Left around 4am, the snow wasn't really a problem coming home, but the bloody fog, proper pea souper, so 3hrs to get home, as Mike Cog said what should be about 90 mins each way turned out to be an 8 hour round trip,

Well done to all those that made it for what looked like a great turnout under the circumstances, making it a great night, hope those that did make it, and those that didn't, all made it home safe and sound,

Hello All

Hats off to Phil for not cancelling the All nighter due to the atrocious conditions and ditto to everyone who attended. We lost 50% of the Dj's but the ones who could get through shuffled things around and made the best of a bad night for the punters. Personally I thought it was marvellous that over 200 people managed to get and hopefully they enjoyed what we managed to put together for them.

Once again thanks to everybody and hopefully the weather will be better for the next date in September.

Hi All,

Whether you made the event or not … what a night!!!!!

All I can say is thanks, thanks and thanks.

Just under 300 soul devotees managed to drag themselves to Derby. Amazed how many travellers made it coming from all over: London, Wigan, Northampton, Stoke, Cambridge, Morecombe the list just goes on and on, the determination of these people to get here was unbelievable all suffering treacherous journeys. It wasn’t any better for the locals who faced horrendous journeys some even arriving in their wellies. Although numbers were down as expected the atmosphere in the venue was great and well done to the many that stayed to the end.

We lost half the DJ line up to the weather, but I can assure you they all did there upmost to join us and I thank them all. The DJ’s who made it were outstanding rallying together to keep the two rooms open all night – all offering to do extra spots.

The Soul Expression room was affected greatly as we only had two of the original line up but the cavalry soon arrived. Firstly with an opening spot from Daz Dakin. Yes you read that correct Daz Dakin starting the night off in the rare room, not an obvious contender for a spot in here !!! But look over your shoulder DJ’s who perform at Bidds, Lifeline etc he was outstanding. John Heaney wasn’t on the DJ lineup but came to the event especially to help us out. Glyn Sisson & Rob Smith also offered to do extra spots in the Soul Expression room and they too were excellent, Mick H & Ted Massey stepped up and worked overtime to keep the room buzzing.

Thanks also to everyone who intended on coming to the event, I know many of you set off and didn’t make it – you also suffered horrendous journeys and shouldn’t be forgotten. Safety is more important than an allnighter.

Whether you made the event or not I hope you all got home safely.

Cheers Phil

Set off at 7pm from Runcorn, hit problems on M6,North and South had problems, was coming off at junction 15,but this was closed,
back-up plans kicked in,headed down the A50 to Stoke hit problems there.Turned onto the A52 which was clear of traffic most
of the way,but heavy snow was everywhere, the car went 90 degrees to the road down a hill in low gear   ,managed to get control
again :hypo: .Carried on until an accident slowed me up, passed that one and eventually made it to Derby at 11pm.

Had a great night,a good turnout considering the weather, bad luck to everyone that could not make it.Great to see my friends
who had made it,left at 5am to allow for the traffic problems.A38,A50 and the M6 were pretty good apart from the fog on the M6,
made it home in two hours,in bed for 7am,not bad.

Thanks for a great night

KTF :hatsoff2:

Ron.

Had a fantastic night at Derby despite the weather. Great crowd and some brilliant sets from the dj.s- they were all up for it. Special mention to Sam who ramped it up early on and especially Ian Gee who did at least 3 sets and every one was superb. Wiganelli and Carole took 5 hours to get there and didnt sit down once when they finally got in---not bad considering...
