i always look fwd to my visits to the grantham/newark area...nice friendly crowd who come to dance.....i left hants early to avoid the snow and i was at barry coopers by about 1pm.the weather reports wernt good but it wasnt snowing in grantham.....after numerous visits to soul source and facebook it was touch and go wether barrys event at pilsley would go ahead....as i was only 2miles from the squash club i knew id make it to grantham soul no matter what happened......30 cups of tea and a large meal of pie mash and peas.....kept our spirits up but by 5pm the weather had closed in and numerous texts and pms saw many venues close due to the conditions....barry had held out as long as possible but it was obvious in the end pilsley wasnt gonna happen...barry and pam were gutted to say the least...........
i thought id best get myself down to the venue and by the time i arrived the place was covered in snow and there was still over an hour to go before the event started...luckily the venue had free wi fi so i could keep an eye on the weather reports and see if anyone else was coming.......
well i neednt have worried as over 50 made the effort to support mick "j" and get there soul fix
with john manship ruled out due to being snowbound we all had extra time behind the decks...cheers john lololol

a thoroughly enjoyable night at a very nice venue...comfortable and clean and drinks at reasonable prices
nice to meet martin webster and others i know from micks other venue...the mighty stute
lots of great tunes ensured dancefloor action all night and it was still full went mick started his final set at midnight
with the worry of getting snowed in i made my way to the A1 but although passable i decided id take julie moore up on her offer of bacon sarnies and the sofa.....cheers julie

many thanks to mick for askin me to spin a few tunes at his 2nd anniversary
barry and pam...you should open a guest house....your hospitality is 2nd to none

heres some pics and footage from the night

Nice one Moldie. we were gutted mate honestly. the trip to collect Debbie was literally too risky. i doubt i'd have got past the barracks here.
anyway, my mate Biz tells me that you played an absolute blinder, he was impressed indeed. really pleased it went well, especially for Mick and his hard work in making the club what it is.
