Go Go Children 4th Birthday With Mark Sargeant...

well after a weekend working and no dancing, saturday cannot arrive too soon !!!.....missed a record fair too but still have a few new spins and more hopefully more turning up this week...

spoke to mark via facebook and hes well up for it too although hes watching oxford play first so lets hope they get a result!!

as always lots on but still got travellers coming from wales and possibly southampton i understand

well we knew we would be a bit down on the 140 we had in last month as there was so much competition with nites on in worcester,cheltenham,gloucester,oxford and plymouth so what we didnt need was the snow saturday afternoon!...

there was a welsh mod band 'broken vinyl club' playing in bristol and we had about 3 car loads coming over to watch them and then come to us so when i heard the band had been cancelled down them being snowed in it didnt look good and slowly texs and fb messages started to come through confirming the worst...

despite this mark sargeant got here from oxford and we also had some from somerset and even brighton making and enjoying their first go go..

we had 90+ in which was better than we were expecting at one point...to be honest this was a much more comfortable number with more room to dance and no spilt drinks or even any on the dancefloor at all....this had been a problem last month as the numbers were just to high with no where to put you drink without losing it or picking someone elses up by mistake!

mark played a great set with enthusiasm lots of tunes i didnt know a few classics,some motown a bit of funky edged stuff...john as always mixed up the rnb and funk and a killer 15 minutes of ska near the end...which was about 10 minutes passed the end as the floor was still busy as it had been right from ians first great set of more 'dancers' than he normally plays so early..

my two sets were made up of only a few first time spins from me randy taylors 'soul machine' ,baby jeans 'if you wanna' jimmy hannas great version of 'leaving here' and a detroit classic 'your love looks good on me' saving the rest for next month as i wanted to play a few from the early days of go go at the aces bars as it was our fourth birthday...

so all in all another great nite and a big thanx to all who turned out on a very cold nite...next month londons warren boogaloo
