I absolutely love this very special Northern Soul venue and look forward to the 3rd Saturday of each and every month. The Grosvenor has some of the friendliest and hardest working promoters on the scene, fantastic music, brilliant dancers and an atmosphere that other clubs can only dream about.

However, this awesome venue is in danger of being spoilt by the ever increasing attendance of dance floor drinkers and drunks. Because of the deserved popularity of this venue, the dance floor is always full anyway, but when you lose 6 foot off each side because of beer spilling, piss taking drunks, it becomes unbearable. I can appreciate that it’s nigh on impossible to sort out the soulies from the pissheads on the door, but they should at least show some respect for the Northern Soul way, the DJ’s, the hard working organisers and the true soulies. At last month’s event there was a half hearted request from one of the DJ’s to keep drinks off the dance floor, but no-one took a blind bit of notice. I know of a well known group of "long distance soulies" who have already made the decision to stop travelling to the Grosvenor Rooms for this very reason. I hope you can accept this constructive criticism and hopefully take measures to control the situation which, in the opinion of me and others, is threatening the hard earned reputation of the #1 soul club in the midlands. My comments are not a pop at the people involved with the Grosvenor, who do a fantastic job that we all greatly appreciate, but at the uneducated beer swilling fools who's only knowledge of anything to do with soul, is a flat fish from Dover. Apologies for the uncharacteristic rant.

Thanks for listening

KTF

Can only ditto what Nighthawk has said and not the first to say so. But, as you said, its not the organisers fault per-say.
We must carry on supporting the Clubs like this and not turn our backs on them because of a few 'party goers' We have to have faith in the Boys and Girls at The Grosvenor Rooms to sort it and by the sounds of things they are. I believe this months event will be looked over by some Security Staff who should intevene should any 'unsavouries' occur.
As Nighthawk has said, this is no reflection on the wonderful job that the Promotors and Staff at The Grosvenor are doing and have done so for quite a few years. Long may they reign.

Hi everyone,

Just to let you all know, Me n Mark are trying very hard to keep things under control at the Grosvenor. As are Scott and Madeline, it's very difficult to vet everyone who walks through the door as you can all imagine. It is well known that we have in excess of 350 - 400 people through the doors every month and when people walk in that we do not recognise, we have to take it on faith that they will behave. We have been overwhelmed with the support from the Northern Soul scene and also from the Motown lovers who frequent our venue, we are grateful to you ALL. I would however ask that if you are experiencing any kind of problem that you would come to us and let us know, you can even contact us by phone on the numbers provided on our flyers. We will be happy to listen to you :) We will in any case keep on keeping on and providing our customers with a superb music policy with an awesome selection of Dj's for your pleasure. The Grosvenor rooms goes from strength to strength and in turn so will our music. Mark is on the door EVERY night and he is doing his best to monitor the situation :) please give him your support by understanding our commitment to YOU. We are looking forward to the night AS ALWAYS, and we hope you all enjoy the night as much as you usually do.

Thank you

Keeping the faith ALWAYS

Rob & Mark

Fully support Mark and Rob with their viewpoint.
Can only police with a kind heart, because if the lads went in with a heavy hand, it would spoil its unique atmosphere,
So it is up to the people who go- to point out the wrong Doers to the organisers, which will then allow the promoters to have a "Word" to gain equalibrium,
And keep the buzz with the jox and the music
Will have Brid tickets with me if anyone needs em going fast so get em while you can

I don't believe the critisism was aimed at the Promoters or staff just fueled a little by anger towards the drunken few that seem to demand attention when inside the venue. Nothing but love n respect for all at the Grosvenor and you have our undying support as always XXX

The dreaded curse of the "Handbaggers" and their friends the "Dancefloor Pissheads" seems to be at epidemic proportions across the nation at the moment. Until recently the local nights run by Soulies rather than "entertainment entrepueners" had largely escaped this scourge of the scene. With regard to the Grosvenor I know that Mark and Rob take any threat to the Grosvenor Buzz very seriously and will have taken appropriate measures for this Saturdays event. For my part I will take every opportunity to remind anyone who is present that neither handbags or drinks (especially those attached to people who wouldn't know a stomper from a shuffler) will be tolerated on the dance floor. I urge all the Grosvenors' soul family to unite behind Mark and Rob to preserve the integrity of the club.

I've been to this brilliant venue on several occasions ,it has a great crowd and great music with a committed force of regular goers and organisers who I am convinced will not let the excellent reputation that has been built up over the years be ruined by a few mindless idiots .

I cant make it tonight but I hope everyone has a great night as I'm sure you will !

Hello again,

1st thank you to all of you for your wonderful posts.
We would like to bring you up to date, we have listened to your comments and as always we have acted on them. We would like to assure you all that we have taken measures to ensure the safety and continued fun at the Grosvenor :) As a response to activities from the past couple of months and due to popular demand we have decided that it is in the interests of our dedicated Soulies that the main door will be closed to the public from 10:45. This means that there will be NO admittance after that time, however we have made arrangements for the doors to be open to use for those who need a fag :) As usual, we couldn't do it without you, so we listen to you :) and for those of you who don't know, Get in early as we get busy early.
We hope you all have an AWESOME night & enjoy yourselves

Keeping the faith ALWAYS

Rob

WOW! although I was missing last night due to still being poorly :( I am getting some amazing feedback :) Looks like a good time was had by all and Mark is now definitely aware that he will be joining the 50s club soon:) never mind buddy look on the bright side eeeerrrm, oh yes! you can now get Saga holidays Lol. Sounds like all our DJ's played blinders and kept the floor FULL. Also like to thank all of our resident Dj's for all their hard work :) Especially Gaz and Oggy fro helping Mark set up as always as I was unable to. But most of all I would like to thank all of YOU. Remember you ARE the best Soulies in the Midlands and it's because of you that we do what we do ;) Can't wait till next month as I should be back to my normal bouncy self (fingers crossed ) Thank you all sooo much once again and I will see you all Next Month.

What a great time we had last night! Full on Northern Soul! Biggest cheer of the night was when guest DJ Mick Moylan asked a lady to remove her handbag from the dancefloor...priceless!The look on Billy's face when I played my Patti Austin - Pain Stain made my night! See you all soon.
