Soul Event Info

'Leeds Central Soul Club' Alldayer
Sunday February 19th 2012
'HiFi' club, 2 Central Road, Leeds LS16DE
1pm-8pm
£6 on the door on the day.

PLEASE! Get there as early as possible.

2011 was a memorable year that saw the revival after 40 years, of one of the UKs most loved and revered Northern Soul clubs
'The Leeds Central Soul Club'.

The events blasted off with a 40th anniversary reunion in May which blew everyone away. After seeing that the event and original venue still held a great deal of fondness in the hearts of so many people, it was decided to make it a regular event. The last event being in December, which was totally off the scale as far as tunes, atmosphere and crowd were concerned.

SO! into 2012 then!
We aim to make 2012 even better than 2011, starting with another awesome alldayer on Sunday February 19th.

At only £6 on the door for 7 so full, Soulful hours, in one of the oldest and most historic venues in the UK, this is an event not to be missed.

In keeping with the original events in the 60s and 70s, the music policy will stay the same, out & out Northern Soul and Tamla Motown Classics, including a few recently discovered 60s and 70s tracks to keep the day fresh.

We have even dug up some of the original DJs from back in the day, Namely;
Twink, Keith Atkinson, Tony Jackson, Chris Mallows, Pete Dillon, Mick Eastwood & Steve Luigi.
All playing the very best music ever pressed on vinyl for 7 phenomenal, tear jerking, atmospheric hours.

So happy new DAYER to you all, and see you there on the 19th February at 1pm for the first 'Leeds Central' alldayer of 2012.

Cheap but modern hotel only 10 minutes walk from the venue:

Only 2 and a half weeks to go to the 'Leeds Central Soul Club' Alldayer.
Over 5000 flyers gone out around the UK and beyond, in Record shops and at events. If you haven't seen any you need to get out more, and here's your chance.
On a nice Soulful Sunday afternoon in Leeds, with the very best in Northern Soul & Tamla Motown being played by 7 original 70s DJs, through an excellent sound system in a nice cozy venue with an atmosphere so electric that you could power the whole of the UK for a year.

Need an excuse to get out? Well what better one is there?

Slight change in the DJ line up for next Sunday. Pete Dillon has unfortunately had to drop out due to personal reasons, so we have managed to get the 'Leeds Central' Legend 'Swish' to cover for Pete. Swish is yet another one of the the original 'Leeds Central' DJs from back in the 70s, and he certainly knows how to keep the atmosphere buzzing and the dance floor full.

A 1 minutes silence will be held on Sunday for the sad loss of a true Northern Soul legend.
R.I.P. Graham Slater and condolences to his family.

Second Issue

Well what can i say. First time that i have been back to The Central Club since the early 70,s. I wasn,t quite sure how to find it again, but met a couple of soulies getting off the train in Leeds who pointed me in the right direction. As soon as i turned into Central Road and saw the club, the memories came flooding back. I had a great time and would like to thank both promotors and DJ,s alike. The feet don,t move as fast as they would like nowadays, and sure to have a little stiffness in the thighs today, but its well worth the price for a fantastic Sunday session. Can,t wait for the next one.

Thank you so much for your kind comments, I will convey your thanks to the other DJs and I know that will really appreciate them. Everyone says that they had a great day and we had some that came up from 'ELY' in cambridgeshire that said they loved it and will be back for more. I and the DJs have tried their upmost to get the 'Leeds Central' back on the map after 40 years absence, and when we hear comments like yours, it makes us feel that we are getting there and are doing the job we set out to do.
Thank you - Steve - KTF

couldn't agree more. hi Nigel i spoke to you briefly on Sunday and was really pleased you enjoyed it.The Central was where it all started for me way back in the day and as one the DJ's it's really great to see the response we're getting.
The atmosphere is just as electric as it always was and it;s fantastic to so many
people enjoying it and keeping the dance floor going pretty much all day.
Long may it continue, and please, please get in early as the DJ's who are on first are playing brilliant spots and get people dancing right from the get go. Can't wait
for the next one.

HI STEVE,

Good to hear from yourself and many others who i spoke to that were all in agreement that the latest Central afternoon session was rocking. Went to the first one which was unique in itself and set the platform for things to come.

Have not been since but that is due to the Central clashing with another event in Yorkshire thats being going a few years now and which is also brilliant although different musically and in atmosphere.

Looking at the Soul Source calendar, there are no Sunday soul sessions on the first Sunday of the month, so me being a rocket scientist lol, may i suggest you try the first Sunday in the month for the next Central Dayer so as to be the stand alone event on that day?.

I am sure the attendance would be a sellout.

regards ROY

Hiya Roy and thanks for your comments, always appreciated matey.
On the first Sunday of May which would be the next planned event, there are events in Notts, Barnsley and Sheffield and I believe Blackpool too, so not a good day to choose for the Central. I have another date in mind though which at this time doesnt clash with any other events, so might be going for that me thinks.
All the best Roy and thanks for the suggestion.
Steve
