Soul Event Info
Solid Hit comes to Solid Hit !!!!!
We are absolutely delighted to announce that our “guest” for the first Solid Hit of the year is none other than Detroit Legend, the fantastic Pat Lewis singing Live at her only gig in the South.
Recording such brilliant tracks on Golden World & Solid Hit as well as singing back up on many motown sessions as well as permanent back up singer for Aretha Franklin & Isaac Hayes to name but two this will really be a night to remember. I saw her in the 80s on the Ric Tic tour & I thought she stole the show then, she’s still appearing at shows to this day in the States so you can expect a singer used to performing .
Have to say I’m bloody excited about this !

Should be along to this all being well. Hope all my mates are there. Dave told me that Pat Lewis was going to be on earlier in the evening than the guests usually are. That is great, I won't have to leave halfway through to get my last train from Liverpool Street.
Here's some directions from Liverpool Street station which is only a 3minute walk from SolidHit & some hotels should you want to stay over. The Travel lodge at Liverpool Street & Aldgate are both recommended by our long distance travellers
DIRECTIONS As you come out of the main entrance of Liverpool Street station onto Bishopgate, cross over & turn left past the Kentucky salmonella shop & the Police Station. 2nd turning on the right is Middlesex street with a pub on each corner, Dirty Dicks & Woodin's Shades. Turn down Midllesex Street & the Shooting Star is 50yards down on the right & we will be downstairs @ 8pm ......
For anybody driving there is street parking after 6.30pm right outside the pub....just don't nick the space where Mark parks with the equipment & Des lugs his piles of sales boxes from !
For anybody travelling & wanting to stay overnight please see hotel details below. We have good reports of the Travel Lodge at Liverpool Street which is only 3 minutes walk away & Aldgate which is just 10 minutes walk away although all the hotels mentioned are close by.
Travelodge Liverpool Street, 1 Harrow Place, London E1 7BD Tel. no. 0871 9846190 ( This is about a 3 minute walk/stagger away & is the best bet pricewise & for convenience
Travel Lodge 6-13 Chamber Street Aldgate East E1 8BL Check the Travel lodge website http://www.travelodge.co.uk for special deals & you may get something around £60
Club Quarters 7 Gracechurch Street, EC3V 0DR Standard room with breakfast £79
City Hotel 12 Osborn St E1 6TE Twin/Double £80/Triple room £105
I'm so excited....my first night out for a while. Pat Lewis to perform No One To Love ....heaven......
Will be good to see you Martin, was sorting records at 3am today & was sooooo very tempted to stick Parliaments Heart Trouble in the box to dedicate for you but thought it may be thought to be in bad taste
Well it's finally here, and it's gonna be an absolute blast this evening!!!DesP.S. One piece of advice, though - this will be busy, so best get there early!!
Think we're just about sorted , Pat landed last night & is really looking forward to performing tonight, it's certainly going to be busy & I'm sure a brilliant night to kick off 2012 for Solid Hit
We are negotiating with management to hire the back corridor (not passage) & have a few tables with nice crisp tableclothes where out of work DJs can serve our paying customers with fairy cakes, scones & tea for when the noise in the main bar becomes too much. If this proves popular we aim to extend the range to include some nice sandwiches. Unfortunately this service will not be available tonight Mace so not worth your journey down sorry mate
Damm........though to be fair I'm more of a kebab man than fancy nibbles.
Des would be ideal for the job of serving up any snacks he doesn't consume himself......though you might want to keep on his back about washing his hands after toilet visits.
'Back Corridor Des' it is then....though 'Back Passage Des' has a much better 'ring' to it !
I must say, last night was a tremendous do, totally rammed, and with the usual quality musical fayre, topped off with a superb performance by Pat Lewis.....well done to all concerned!
A cracking night indeed, totally rammed, great atmosphere and top sounds. As Wilxy says Pat Lewis was brilliant. (even Dave I don't like live acts Grumpy Greenhill looked mildly happy at one point) Looking forward to you topping that for my next birthday Mr G! With a lift home to Essex at the end it doesn't get any better. Take a bow the SHS team.
Brilliant night on friday so big thanks to the Solid Hit Crew.
Pat Lewis was Excellent and the Tunes were top notch
Totally rammed down in the basement
Think you may need a bigger venue soon
