WHEN DERECK WAS ASKED TO RUN THIS EVENT BY TONY AT LOWER KERSAL SOCIAL CLUB,
WE WERE A BIT APPREHENSIVE TO SAY THE LEAST, AS SOMETIMES YOU JUST GET PEOPLE COMING IN AFTER THE PUBS SHUT,TAKING THE "MICHAEL",AND GENERALLY BEING A NUISANCE.
WE NEEDN,T HAVE WORRIED! THE CLUB IS A BRILLIANT VENUE,IT CAN HOLD UPTO 350,
OR CORDONED OFF, EASILY A 100.
TONY RUNS A REALLY TIGHT SHIP, AND DOES NOT TOLERATE FOOLS GLADLY,HE WAS SO UP FOR IT AND FULL OF ENTHUSIASM HE WANTS US TO DO IT ON REGULAR MONTHLY BASIS,
& SEE HOW IT GOES.
WE COULD HAVE DONE WITH A FEW MORE IN LAST NIGHT, BUT THE PEOPLE WHO WERE THERE KEPT THE DANCE FLOOR BUZZING TILL THE VERY LAST RECORD!
HAVE TO ADMIT RITA & MYSELF DANCED TO A FEW "OLDIES" THAT WE HAVENT HEARD FOR A WHILE!
THERE ARE SO MANY GOOD CLASSICS & UNDERPLAYED MOTOWN, THAT DONT ALWAYS GET THE RECOGNITION THEY DESERVE.I FELT LIKE A 15 YEAR OLD LAST NIGHT,BUT I WENT HOME WITH DERECK!!
TONY MUNDEY & MARTIN (BLUNNY), PLAYED ABSOLUTELY CRACKING SETS, & REALLY ENJOYED THEMSELVES, AS DID DERECK AS PER USUAL!
ANYONE WHO ENJOYS GOOD QUALITY CLASSICS & MOTOWN, ALONG WITH A FEW WHEEL TUNES, WOULD DEFINITELY HAVE A GREAT NIGHT HERE!

Mick, Stella, Alison and I attended and we had a great night. The music was classic northern that kept us on the dancefloor most of the night. We all left feeling knackered, buzzin and with aching feet. I will attend future events based on last nights experience. All the DJ's deserve credit for playing great sets.

I enjoyed last night at the Lower Kersal Soul Club. Don't be put off by the Salford Tag. The place is as safe as houses. Large, floodlit car park with security cameras and a Steward, who'll stand no nonsense. The music was fabulous and Ursula and I hardly sat down all night. Numbers were low, even though there had been over 300 hits on the site. The third Friday of the month has very few nights in the Manchester area, so support this one. The motor way is 5 minutes away and it's easy to find. The beer is good, the room is big and comfortable, the organisers are friendly. Hope to see you there next month.

A great club, perfect for this event. Beltin' dance floor, plenty of room and my favourite, cheap bar prices

Been digging a few more oldies out of me dusty boxes especially for the night. Be spending the next day or so cleaning all the dust off

EVEN TONY, THE CLUB OWNER, HAD A FEW DANCES, ITS GREAT TO SEE SUCH AN ENTHUSIASTIC CLUB OWNER THESE DAYS!

Loved it ! danced loads to some of the tunes that got me into soul many moons ago . what a lovely social club , and its so big ! and squeeky clean you can see the Manager takes pride in the place , it shows , everything is imacculate , carpets look like they have just been laid, floors polished and mirrors and glasses gleam

Even the outside is kept so well. we were well impressed , best social club I have seen for years , it has so much potential. I was so surprised when the manager offered to buy us drinks and asked if we where enjoying the night . You have got a good one there Derek . I can see you having much sucess with this venture.

Look forward to getting down there again , its only 4 minutes away from where I live in the car !

The fillet steak supper was awesome mate , thanks for the cooking tips.. ended a perfect friday night ! , you need to see what he managed for breakfast ( facebook)

THINK THIS CLUB IS A REAL HIDDEN GEM OF A PLACE, EVEN DOWN TO THE MANAGER AND THE BAR STAFF WHO WERE REALLY ENJOYING THEMSELVES.

Echoing the comments above, I thought it was fantastic. The venue is great, I love the arched roof, so much so little Kieran told me to stop banging on about it. And as noted by Carms, which warrants a mention..the place seemed 'fresh', I couldn't put my finger on it, maybe it was the carpets I've been to plenty of Social clubs, and worked in a fair few too and usually they're a bit grotty, and that is almost par for the course, but this place a stunning. It really does deserve a good soul night.

Heard an oldie I didn't know too (to everyone disbelief, but you can't know them all)! Wish I hadn't left early now as the rest of the eve was not as good (music/people/venues).

Its great when that happens Gary , it happened to me at Con soul with the Impressions you always hurt me , I was so shocked I didn't know it and all around me did .

As has been said above, great stuff indeed. It's definitely a quality venue with all the right ingredients.

Dereck & Tony M played some top tunes to add to those ingredients and hopefully I spun a few decent 'uns aswell. Add to that a lively up-for-it crowd of dancers and it's got the lot. Most certainly a little hidden gem of a place.

Great to see Nige & Carms again and of course John & Brenda and lots of, to me, new faces aswell. The staff are excellent and Tony the steward, as Carms says above, even offered to buy us a drink, so that says what a top bloke he is.

Big thanks to Dereck, Sheila, Ian & Rita for a great night. Looking forward to the next one!!
