doesn't usually work out that way Lol - once the music takes hold and the added attraction of the promo bar prices- bets are on that you'll be one of the last to leave ....

Nice one Mr Green.

Huge thanks to all who came out Sunday afternoon and chilled with The Waterfront crew. What a fabulous afternoon: awesome tunes, great vistas and soulful folk by the bucket load!! Very motivational to see so many faces who want to hear something new or that they have not heard for some timel. Many thanks for your support.
Huge thanks to our guest dj Brett Franklin. Fabulous sets my brother. Sheffield has no idea what it is missing!! My thanks as always to my residents who just keep churning out soulful slabs. Missed both Chris and Dale. Hope all is better for you guys now. The venue also receives our gratitude for making us feel so welcome and for putting brilliant drinks promos. I still can't get over the Grolsch at £2 a pint in the city centre of York!!! It must be illegal.

Here's my playlist, in order over my 3 spots:

Ain't No Mountain High Enough - Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell (Tamla)
It's Too Late - Bobby Goldsboro (United Artists)
Baby, Your Time Is My Time - Bob & Earl (Mirwood)
As Long As I Live (I Live For You) - The Fantastic Four (Ric Tic)
This Girl - Cookin' On 3 Burners feat. Kylie Auldist (Freestyle)
Brother On The Run - Mouse T (Sonic Wax)
Brothers Gonna Work It Out - Willie Hutch (Motown)
Our Love Is Getting Stronger - The Four Voices (Voice)
Lawdy Rolla - The Guerillas (King - promo)
It's Gonna Rain - Gentleman June Gardner (Emarcy)
'Cos It's You Girl - James Walsh Gypsy Band (Test Pressing)
I Want Some Satisfaction - Mike Jemison (Geneva)
Tom's Song - Trammps (Buddah)
A Touch Of Velvet, A Sting Of Brass - Second City Sound (Major Minor)
I'm So Glad - E. Jackie Hines (Cosmic)
Heavenly Love - Toni Harper (RCA Victor)
I Finally Got Wise - Billy Keen (Galaxy - promo)
Walkin' - Jimmy James (Roulette - promo)
Peepin' And Hidin' - Ruff Ruffin (Duke - promo)
I Don't Care (What The People Say) Cookie Scott & The Chevelles (ORR)
Love Music - Sergio Mendes & Brasil '77 (Bell - promo)
Ha - Ri - Ha - Albatross (Carosello)
Stop - Sally Sagoe (Dart)
I Can't Keep From Cryin' Sometimes - Mario Biondi & The High Five Quintet (Unique)
Sinful - Mr Bloe (DJM)
Keep An Eye On Your Close Friends - The Newcomers (Stax)
Something Fishy Is Going On - Universal Mind (Red Coach)

Really enjoyed playing these out on a beautiful sunny afternoon overlooking the cool waters of the city centre of York. What more could one ask for in early February??

See y'all soon,

Jay Cee

Just loved it...what a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon .....fabulous chic and contemporary venue , discretely tucked away in the historic city centre , in the middle of York – located in a converted riverside 19th century warehouse (an old print works ?) .The upstairs 200 capacity room exclusively Waterfront Blues & Soul club , a busy downstairs for those dining with the music upstairs piped throughout on that incredible sound system , plus that amazing open riverside terrace , albeit this time still a bit snow bound.....tho just wait till the spring & summer where it will be fantastic to listen , eat , chill and watch the boats glide by whilst absorbing the soul full tunes ....

Back to upstairs.... a good sized area cleared to expose a fab wooden floor , comfy leather sofas and as already mentioned the cheapest ‘specially negotiated’ promo drinks in the city...became increasingly magic as the daylight diminished with the reflections on the river and beautifully illuminated York skyline vista

Musically as diverse , imaginative, varied and interesting as ever , edgy in parts , cool and soulful throughout as opposed to exclusively upfront northern & motown although both feature - - no two Waterfronts are the same hence the brill feedback which is so appreciated and part of that unique chill out vibe.

Great sets from residents Jay & Mr ‘funky’ Green who also dished up an ace promo cod for the 1st 50. Nice to see Ian & Sue especially coming over from West Yorkshire and taking the opportunity of staying over (bargain hotel prices on Sunday nights). Good to see John Cairns and his crew , Blake & Nicki , Richard Bayley (could resist a dance) , Steve & Lydia , Ashley & Keri , The Harrogate crew – sorry to hear about Kev Birchall being hospitalised )

Best of all was the special guest – The Brett Franklin Experience who played simply stunning 7ts and x-over so much so he was asked, and we were all treated to an extra set. No wonder Brett is such a poipular euro DJ at the Hamburg , Bamberg etc weekenders(
Hopefully Brett will post up his playlist and on speaking to Jay, Brett will be returning in the not too distant future along with those already additionally added including Dave Rimmer , Sean Hampsey ,Martyn Bird and the return of Nige Brown & Carman.

Next months chill out (Sunday 11th March) sees Azza ` (That Driving Beat., Leeds) and Maxwell (Family Affair, Manchester) free styling behind the decks along with the return of residents Dale & Bearsoul – can’t wait ...
