Can you book me in for a spot, at this excllent Sunday event (i say Sunday but this would be a great event on any day of the week!) and with any luck i might get to follow "top warm up Dj" Micky "C" only joking there Micky but you did make things pretty easy for me last time.
This will be my second outing as a DJ over the weekend, i'm playing over in Salford at the Black Lion on the Saturday (booked on my performance behind the decks at this very event) but i enjoyed the Bessemer so much last time i'm putting my policy of getting "Soul Overload" on hold and doing the double but i've learned my lesson from last time and i'm only bringing the smallest of record boxes with me!
Looking forward to seeing everybody there.
Go steady
Russ

thanks for another crackin' Sunday Me & Sue had a ball, brill music, great friendly atmosphere, great people. All DJ's did superb spots, entertained us with a fantastic range of A T B sounds & kept the dance floor busy. The "lady" who books the DJ's in did'nt look glamourous this month.... (lol) & managed to cock it up. Joking aside had a realy great time again, can't wait for next month. Barry everybody asked about you, you were missed pal, hope you're better & back with us soon.
Thanks again Nigel, you're a star, see you all soon, Woody & Sue

Many thanks Nige for having me on and a big pat on the back for getting this great event rollin'.

Another excellent afternoon. Great range of music from a top set of DJs. It may be just my personal feeling, but I thought the quality of tunes this month was slightly better than last month - a bit more variety with a touch of the unknown and unexpected from time to time. Excellent! (That's not knocking last month, by the way.) Had a few chats with folks. It all made for a great social event. Pity, the nutters outside put a bit of an edge on things for a short while, but that won't be a problem again hopefully. Well done to the staff at Bessemer (and the local Plod) for keeping an eye on that.
See you soon
John & Helen

First time anywhere we have had a proper meal ( no cooking no dishes or washing up even to do heaven) and been able to listen to our favorite music, only a pitty that we didn't get to hear Russ (The lucky bookie play) due to a rostering mix-up brought on by the problems outside and the spots getting messed up look forward to the next one though.
Lynn xXx
ps nice to see a lot more ladies than normal, and can anybody tell me what was the record played that had the words to start it that went " gotta go girl and honey have i got news for you"? in it what a belter of a class tune

It must have been so very hard for you on Sunday trying to fit everybody in, and contend with all the football related problems that were going on outside (thankfully that was a once of and won't happen again) on your own but you did a cracking job....well done that man!!!
Russ is a lovely bloke and we love his spot on the radio and we always listen, i think he knows that these things happen and it was beyond your control but the drink might sway him LOL. Love the idea of a CD of the DJs who were playing that day.Looking forward to the next one.
Lynn xXx
Ps i think it was between the was between 6pm and 7pm when i heard the mystery song not sure though, don't think it was a Motown number though

Hi Lynn,
I played a 60's stormer with the line, "....but I've got news for you and I want you to listen to me..."
but that would have been around 8PM.
All the best,

Sorry boys's it's all becoming a blur now, perhaps it my have even been a bit of "Blue Eyed" sorry that's about as good as it get, i don't think it would have been your spot Chris (would have loved to have heard you though, but will catch you next time xXx) as i was getting a little uneasy with the football lot outside and asked Pete to take me home, as soon as some of them started to come into the Bessermer, but they were well behaved thank goodness.
Well done with the CD Nigel that has to be a great idea, once again top even with lovely people and great music.
Lynn xXx
Ps Girls forget the cooking the Sunday lunch, and get ya fella to take you to the Bessermer

Sorry i didn't see you or Pete on Sunday but it was busy as always, i'll get you both a drink next time i see you both, I'm think the record you're asking about was played by "The Warm Up King" Micky "C" and it's Junior Cambell and Sweet Illusion pure Blued Eyed Soul
Don't worry Nigel, you had you're hands full trying to juggle the DJ spots (and without you PA ..."Miss T" where where you?) and the football boys outside were starting to create a few moments but that said once again a cracking venue and a wide selection of sounds this month getting an outing, many thanks to the young lady who liked my last spot great of you to say and i thank you for that but you'll get me on the next one i quite fancy 6:30 Nigel as i get to pick my spot as way of a sorry (only joking Nigel and once again thanks for wanting to buy me a beer but no need to very kind though)
So just to re-cap what has already been said, you really can't do much better than the Bessermer on a Sunday afternoon great venue, nice people, quality music and you can get fed and watered there too, now that's a result as we say in the trade.
See you all at the next one, go steady and be lucky.
Russ

That sounds like it could be the one, never heard the song before, but i love it even if it isn't, you don't hear enough of these old blue eyed soul spins nowadays (mores the pity) i suppose the're all banned today by the "Soul Police" any chance of Nine Times Out Of Ten, What, or The Joker Went Wild, at the next one lol.
Love Lynn xXx
