This event is now over. Look up now to read the latest reviews of this soul event

As I am sure most of you already know, Killa will be hanging up his headphones after Xmas,he will be sorely missed,

not least for his brilliant sense of humour! Thanks a million Killa, for all your hard work in helping to run Con.soul,

and promoting it with us, not an easy task these days.

Coincidentally,we are moving to new premises in January, (believe it or not,the committtee complained that they didnt make enough behind the bar!) the new club is THE PRESTWICH BRITISH LEGION, only ten minutes from

the Con. club. We are going from the Tories to The Legionaires!

Its a smart little club, ( not too smart!) just been refurbished, had a new dance floor fitted, AND its a Holts Pub,

so its still cheap!

So, we are delighted to announce that GARY BRATCHFORD, (European Soul Weekend & The Seven Inch Club)

will be joining us,as co -promoter & Resident DJ.

I am sure he will bring something different to our venue, as he has a very diverse record collection!

Please come & give us your support in January!

SEE YOU SOON

I have just had a very humbling conversation with Noreen, a lady from the charity "Hurdles".

She told me how absolutely thrilled they are, that we have chosen them for our charity this year.

They have been given such a boost by it she said, because the lesser known charities never seem to get the

publicity that more well known ones do.

It has spurred us on to do even more now,but we cannot do it on our own!

We know folk on the soul scene are extremely generous, and we know there would be a lot of very happy

children & young adults if we can raise a tidy amount for them.

So, please come & join us, for what will be a fantastic night!

12 brilliant djs, all donating their time & services free!

They deserve your support!

Lets leave the Con.club with a bang! (not literally!)

Just to add...

ALL the proceeds from the night, the £5 admission, & the money made from the raffle, will be

going to the charity, not ONE penny goes on "administration" or anything silly!

Lets push the boat out!

What a shame me and our Donna wont be here for this one. Absolutely brilliant last year, Tony will be there as usual trying to do better on the mountain of raffle prizes he won last year, lol, great atmosphere, lovely people and such a worthy cause. Put me down for a couple of raffle tickets if you are going to auction Gary off for adoption......he's such a lovely lad.

Hope you have a great night and make lots of money, have a great Xmas and see you all in the New Year!

Had a lovely few hours at Con Soul . My friends Mick and Lucy Donnelly had come to see me from Lincoln for the day and after a nice meal in the Village and a catch up afternoon we decided to come down and support the night , sorry couldn't make it all night , but we did well to get three hours in .

Oh it was so painful not being able to dance :( I had to sit and watch rather than participate , never mind there will be a next time !

Well done to all involved and especially to Sheila and Rita for all that effort in getting all those prizes organized . I was a little disappointed that Derek resisted his anorak gene and didn't sort those winning prizes on order of numbers on the table :) lol just kidding

Great to see you all and the Manchester soul collective , good luck with the new venue and a new beginning with Gary on board as a partner.

And last but not least Killa .... you did the club proud over the period you covered as resident DJ we were thrilled and introduced to many a good tune and we have always just enjoyed your general sense of humor and humility in soul , good luck with your retirement .... I can't help but think a few years down the line when that grand daughter fills her head with boyfriends and Independence from grown ups that you will be back behind those decks guesting ... its in your blood !

Big thanks to special mates Mick & Lucy xxx

Well! what can we say? it was a brilliant night! great turnout, & a fantastic atmosphere right to the very end!

Firstly, a HUGE thank you to each and everyone of the DJs, who travelled far and wide, & donated their time for free.

You couldnt fault the music all night, (thanks for the Sparkles Jeff!)

Now,as for our raffle, we never cease to be amazed at the generosity of folk,we begged, stole, (not really!) & pleaded for donations, local businesses, & generous " soulies" made sure the table was groaning with goodies!

Hope everyone enjoys everything they won.

We dont know the exact amount we have raised yet, we will post on here in due course.

There were 3 people from the charity there last night, & they were amazed at the good time we were all having,

whilst raising money for them, they pledged to return!

Last, but not least, our loyal punters,we thought the weather might put people off travelling last night,

but, on the contrary, brilliant turnout & lots of new faces! we hope you will continue to support us at our new venue, details of which we will post on here.

It was an emotional farewell to Killa , as he ended his Dj ing career, playing as his last record , the very first record he played, when he started his illustrious career all those years ago!

It was "TAKE YOUR LOVE & RUN" by BARBARA LYNN.

Enjoy your retirement Killa, you will certainly be missed, but Im sure you will be out & about!

Your lovely grandaughter Eve, will benefit from you having more time.

Once again, massive thanks to all who came,& supported the Charity "HURDLES"

Im sure they will be thrilled by your generosity!

A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS, & A PEACEFUL & PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR TO ONE & ALL

Loved it last night, lots of laughs trying to flog some vinyl. Plenty of great sales boxes, one guy had a box of 45s, all £5 each!! Bargains galore.

The music was superb, heard some great tracks throughout the night, good to catch up with old mates. Hope the raffle raised plenty of funds for the charity

Good luck with the new venue

cheers Paul

I've always enjoyed my occasional visits to Con.Soul (despite the fact that everytime the temperature has been below zero!) and last night was without doubt the best I've witnessed. A fitting way for Killa to end and it was great to see so many there at the end for his last record.

Excellent atmosphere, good mix of music, lots of friends to catch up with and a worthy charity getting a large donation. Brilliant.

Mace proved that he is not the talentless tool he appears to be by getting busy in the kitchen, tasty oatmeal cakes but would have been perfect with a little more generosity with the cheese. Got to catch up with Pat which is always a pleasure...with her beautifully delivered comment 'Adam, wow! You're actually dancing to the same beat as the record that's being played!' made me laugh myself off the dancefloor :)

Thanks to Dereck, Sheila and Killa for inviting me up and to my double decking partner for the night Geoff Rudd....who apparently had no idea who I was despite the fact we've being doing record deals for years lol! Will try and find 5 mins and put up my plays later.

Adam.

Having the luxury to walk maybe less than 5 minutes door-to-door, I am very fortunate to have a fantastic venue so close; testament to which was evident last night with both the turn out and distances traveled by some of the guests, and all for two great causes.

Firstly, Killa's last night behind the decks. A blinding spot played and great to see everyone dance to his last record.

Secondly the charity fundraiser and all the amazing DJ's who turned up, who, in my opinion, and the others I had to pleasure to share my evening with, all agreed that not one bad record was played.

Such a great vibe, a real buzz about the place - long may it continue in its future home down the road.

My only complaint is that I passively bought more records, Adam and Killa have that skill of striking up a conversation, mentioning a record, then it suddenly appearing in their hands and then before I know it, its in mine.

Cracking oat cakes and banter in the sales kitchen too with a Xmas card from Pat to boot!

Perfect night,

Gary.

I know what you mean Gary.Adam sold me four records that until last night I'd managed happily to live

without. Must have still been in shock with his dancing.

One of the funniest things that happened on Saturday, (apart from Adams dancing!) only joking Adam, you HAVE

rythym! was Dereck trying to swell the coffers of the Charity, by asking for offers for the unclaimed raffle prizes.

He approached the lovely Errol who asked what it was, & it turned out to be a tanning lotion set!

Seriously, it was a cracking night, even though Rita & myself didnt get any oatcakes Mace! they never made it out of the kitchen! we did get a chocolate eclair though!

I can be very persuasive when I want to be!

Hurdles will be thrilled, so we are going to see if we can get it up to £700!

I am also an eternal optimist!

Huge thanks once again, to each & everyone of you who made this night a great success!

she was amazed by everyones generosity, & she thought the raffle was amazing! it was pretty good!

Many thanks to all the brilliant DJS once again, & to everyone who supported us on the night, with your

generous donations, & raffle prizes.

Isnt it nice to give?

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas
