Two top guys who will deliver perfect sets that will really make this night one not to be missed !

Excellent news indeed ...been a while since i last caught up with Yorks finest double act ...so i for one will make sure i have no other plans for this date .

Let's hope they get a warm reception and lots of people make the effort to give em the support they deserve .

Mind you , having been to the last one ...the resident dj's are no slouches and can boast some of the best rare soul records in the country ,let alone the N.east !

See you all on the 1st of December for what promises to be a memorable night indeed :)

Paul ..i pace myself with precision ...if the night ends at 12..i go 3 to the hr ,if its 1 am ....i still go 3 to the hr ...lol

If i wake up in the morning and can still remember talking to you ,then i've obviously been slacking :)

Now me lads - Paul / Nev

If ya wanna have a few beers at the next do count me in on yer round - i always like a couple or ten at the Rafa club.

Gonna be a great night with sounds to rival anywhere in the country not only from the guests but as Nev says - the local guys can spin a mean sound off the top table of rarities.

Hopefully the night will bring in the old guys and gals from around the region.

I can see this being a good un!

Any chance of knowing the names of the local guys??

Are we talking residents or is there a local DJ as a guest too??

Always like to know who is on early doors if I can as I normally turn up around 8-9 pm......................so would make the effort to get there earlier if it was worth it.

I did see your post last month and noticed you didn't get a reply  .................but hey ho, one can but try!!!

Hi Carol,Chris,

The RAFA PR machine is at best a little laid back, but credit where it's due Paul,Ian and Kev have for the last six years

kept this going showcasing N/E collectors playing quality sets covering all genres.

This month however does promise to be a bit special, the £2.50 entrance fee is worth it alone to get one of Paul,s newsletter,s and cd,

so along with the mountain of rare soul on offer you also have the propect of seeing Nev,Ian,Dale and myself drinking ourselves into a right old state!!!!!

Well it is Christmas

ps Carol i will pm you tommorow

Hi Paul (ackers)

Thanks for the reply (quite easy wasn't it :P )

I wasn't questioning the promotional skills just asking who was on that month...

I agree there's been some great N/E collectors at the Rafa but also some that just don't do it for me... :sleep3:

I go for the music first and foremost...therefore i like to know roughly what i can expect to hear...hence the question

As you say this month will be special and i'll be there to enjoy it

Chris

Nev Griffiths (Darlington), Davy Mason (Gateshead / Newcastle) and Paul Ackley (Aycliffe) - I can't squeeze any more in Carol so 5 of the best for everyone to enjoy. DJ rota's will be shown on the night.

wow where do i start,my first time at aycliffe rafa club,i especially went through beacause the york lads were on tony hatfeid and john parker, well they done a couple of spots, and short and sweet they were bloody great, done york proud...infact if i had to pick two records of all night it would be two john played..watch out little girl invitations andjessie james love is alright...as for rest of residents i only knew one personally, nev from darlo, this is harder, they take there northern seriously in aycliffe and bishop and boy does it show, quality toons allnight from all of them..its a long long time since i went anywhere ,where it was brilliant from going in till end...im not going to apologise if i seem over the top but for me musically this was the best night in recent memory, and to top it all they give you a cd that would have done it for me on its own lol...will i go back without a doubt if thell have me,well done lads.if i had to pick a bad point,i was driving so nursed a shandy all night...usually i have a good winge when i get in..not this time im still beaming....k

Bloody fantastic is what I can describe the RAFA last night, I danced loads and the dancefloor was packed most of the night. All the djs deserve a pat on the back. :)

Was good to see you out and about Keith ... was starting to get worried that you'd succumbed to that dreaded illness ...couchpotatoitis aka old age!

It was good to see this nice little venue restored to its former glory ... a good healthy crowd of soul followers ,each and every one of you.

Perfect size room ..right shape ..good roomy stage ,proper dance floor ,bar in the room and also for convenience ,even the loos are thrown in for good measure!

Only excused people are the smoking fraternity .

The night went well from the off ,people in early doors even though we had a late 1 am finish and plenty of people up for a good dance!

I would think most people went home satisfied with the music on offer ,i think between us we coverd the bases ..

Only a few glitches ...John Parker showing off ,mixing and scratching a copy of the Cairos ...and someone trying to steal one of the decks whilst record still playing .lol

I really hope this plays can grow from this night onwards and people who travelled from further afield ,York & Newcastle will have found good reason to come back for more.

Well done the organisers for all the efforts and committment in making this one special ...oh and all you paying customers !
