Just to mention direct flights to Rimini are not released in the winter months so if you are currently looking your options look a little restricted at present.

There is another option which my friend has suggested who is an Italian this is the option of flying to Bologna and getting a train to Rimini which takes around an hour depending on which train you decide to take , they have a fast and slower service. I have used their rail network before when I did Rome /Florence/Venice and its a nice way to see the countryside :)

I obtained easyjet Gatwick flights to Bologna for 78 pounds per person , but have since been told perhaps I booked too early as the Rimini flights have not been released yet ?

I couldn't find any flights from the North of England :( well not without changing planes and it taking 4-6 hours to get there,so I have opted for a scenic route through Italy and a trip to Gatwick . I was eager to get booked :)

Good luck

A possible journey planner taking the option to go from Gatwick to Bologna and using the trains to Rimini

The travel times are quite civilized :)

Flights

Buses to the Railway station run from and to the airport every 15 minutes cost 3 euros takes an hour to the railway station using the aroporto bus

Trains

Bologna Railway Station times to Rimini and train types

2.35pm 4.01pm regionale veloce 2129

2.42pm 3.34pm frecciabianca 9813

3.35pm 5.03pm regionale veloce 2921

3.42pm 4.34pm frecciabianca 9815

4.00pm 5.08pm intercity 611

Returning to UK from Rimini Railway station to Bologna Railway Station

09.40am 11.21am regionale veloce 2128

09.47am 11.00am inter city 604

10.17am 11.14am frecciabianca 9810

As you can see there are different kind of trains. the difference is in the cost and speed.

The slower one is the "regionale" then comes the "intercity" then the "frecciabianca" , faster the train the more costly the ticket.

Hope this helps

Dave,

We're considering going back to Rimini again this year. Been 3 times before and always had a whale of a time!

There's usually quite a few Brits go out there but plenty of young Italians also, who are always well into their soul music!

Music policy is a mixture - probably with a bit more of a modern bias but still lots of Northern played. Music policy will probably be dictated by who the guset dj's are but the line ups don't usually disappoint.

Just researching flights, hotels etc. We've usually flown to Bologna and got the train or bus down but one year flew direct into Rimini, (much more convenient but more expensive?). Can't find any flights direct to Rimini at the moment though!

Catch up on this next time I bump into you, or speak to Paul McKay. He's a proper Rimini vet and will be able to give you the low down!!

Is this a one room event and is it the same venue each night please ? Different day venue ?

Its titled Rare Soul Weekender, but the replies and line up might indicate its a 70ts to Modern / Mixed bias rather than 60ts ?

All info/comment appreciated

This is a one room only event. During the day we do have dj sessions in the lovely outdoor side of the venue, overlooking the beautiful Rimini beach, so everybody can chill out with drinks, have a chat and dance, why not? The fact that the weekend is a Rare Soul Weekender, doesn't imply that this is gonna be a 60's only event does it? We aim to quality as our priority and the djs who will be playing in Rimini are without the shadow of a doubt masters in this field ;). Our event has an across the board music policy, quality 6t's, 7t's and crossover, and we have chosen not to label it in any way.

Maria, you are right, the venue is really close to the train station, a great bonus for those who will be arriving by train from the various airports..

Hope this helps with your query :)

Have you looked at Hotels?

No Carms - Gatwick with Easyjet!

Only flights I could find direct to Rimini from UK were BA from Heathrow - cost an arm and a leg :(

Are you flying out Thursday, or Friday?

Yes Dave! Booked to stay at Park Hotel. Stayed there 2/3 times before. Contacted them direct but price they quoted me was more than it was to book online through Booking.com

Hi Dave

i guess you being a northerner (north  london  that is ) are going from Stansted, we (posh southerners) are going from Gatwick. If it's your first time you should enjoy it. Great across the board DJ line-up and a very nice resort.

We are staying at hotel Saxon fairly central not far from Rose and Crown which has been base in past (English pub but with good German lager).

Tara should be taking her blackberry with her.

Look forward to seeing you and rest of the crew.

Cheers

Dave

Just want to say a big thank you to all those involved in setting up such a fab weekend , it was PERFECT !

The music was superb the company was thrilling and the location stunning. I would love to do it again next year , the journey was taxing and on reflection a thread on handy hints about knowing the basics of travelling in Italy , what to avoid , how to get there routes will help others in the future. Also hotel recomendations and beach options good restaurants , low budget options , in fact why not have a Soul Travel sub section within this web site within lifts ?

I keep reflecting back on what a wonderful weekend this was , one I shall remember as the best ever :)  Lovely to meet new friends along with people we already knew .
