Brilliant night once again at Eggborough, atmosphere, crowd and music quality. The buffet kindly provided by Alan & Mandy and crew wasn't half bad aswell.... Had a breather in the second room while Bridgey was on decks - awesome mate as always.

Thanks to everyone for a thoroughly good night of soul and we know; because Chris is once again complaining of painful knees - always a mark of a good night.....

Bloody hell I love it here (Ok when we go) but it looks like the Gymnastics squad & Fancy Dress Chorus Line have once again taken over like Japanese Knotweed, oh well never mind, onward & upward. Sorry I missed my old mate Bridgey though, class act.

Take care, be safe & remember, "I believe for every drop of rain that falls, A flower grows,I believe that somewhere in the darkest night, A candle glows",

Really....... I suppose its all a matter of opinion have seen loads of class dancers in Eggborough and without getting personal didn't see anything inspiring in the location you are referring - Mick France who dances at the back one of the best movers and soul dancing legends ever doesn't need to tell us how good he is - just watch him dance that tells it all.

I dont think anyone gets on the floor and thinks oh I'll dance to this looking like a Tw**,people simply dance how they can to the music and enjoy it whilst having fun thats always been the Eggborough ethos -its not a competitive sport - its all about the company and music. FFS get your head out of your Ar** and grow up.

Martyn you have been drawn into a argument that originally started by the comment Spot made about gymnastics and fancy dress chorus line taking over like Japanese Knotweed as Steve and myself were. There are some on this scene that take every opportunity to take a dig at the "fancy dress brigade",as i have stated numerous times on here that is my choice of dress but i never take a dig about others choice of dress and there are many. Dekka once replied to one of my comments that some comments get very heated and it is best to treat it like water off a ducks back and it is this advice i try to take.I accept your opinion of your reply but the last sentence wasn't needed,it is such as this that causes heated debates. Finally Eggborough is a great venue with many fine dancers and long may it go on. Hi Alan & Mandy

We were not having a go at what anyone wears - we all wear what we want and what we like; and if we all wore the same how boring life would be.

To us it's all about the music - We go out to enjoy the music with like minded people as we have been doing on the scene for around 40 years because life is far too short.

It was simply the sheer smug arrogance of the comment that galled us; The assumption that because of a certain type of dress or a dance style someone considers they are better than the rest. Its the person in them that matters......or it is to us.

Wasn't intent on commencing a heated debate on line, certainly agree with Dekka and his thoughts - and definately wasn't directing at you two - would always rather discuss face to face, its leaves much less ambiguity but on balance I think Chris would still have put that last sentence in...........

Have a good weekend & Christmas & New Year if we don't see you before

KTF

Yes don't get drawn in, it was an observation on my part & of most Oldies venues across the Country, I find the fashion irrelevant today,it looked ok when you weighed 9 stone & had a six pack but terrible when you weigh 19 & have a party pack   it was the fashion in the 70's & IMHO that's where it should have stayed, I also find that the Oldies lovers tend to be the most vocal if they don't get their own way & the top 500 & have seen them abuse Dj's they feel don't cater to their every whim, they're also the most aggressive generally, just go to a weekender & bump into someone by accident. :boxing: Steve's entitled to his spirited reply & yes you do get noticed but the other bit was a little Muhammad Ali, "I am the Greatest", btw what does Dekka know he likes R&B, :shhh: Oh & I did say I loved the place & Julie and Richard do a fab job & they're lovely people to boot, anyway looks like I've blotted my copy book there now,Oops!! But then I'm new at this NS stuff but I'll get it one day. :g:

Till then take care, be safe & remember,"That yellow dress you wore, when we went dancing Saturday night,That smile you gave me in the dance hall, when they dimmed the lights, I tried in vain to wash the memory from my brain, I can't forget you & that's what Soul will do,that's what Soul will do",

I don't think I am the "greatest" mate, I was just a bit miffed from the comment that you put that's all it seemed a bit sarcastic, I get on with anybody and I love to dance,, everybody to there own!!

Great soul club Eggborough. One of the best venues around in terms of

price/ dancefloor/ music etc. And i must say every time we've been everyone

has been warm, welcoming and very friendly. Which is something i find difficult

to square with the preceding posts. For what its worth, my opinion is that if anyone

is considering going to Eggborough for the first time, then ignore all this stuff.

The club isnt full of bickering, argumentative people at all.

Its a friendly, well run night with top music and cheap beer.

What more do you want for £2 ?

Hello all..

I personally think Eggborough and Drax are two of the BEST soul nights around, we (me and the mrs) have been attending soul do's nationwide for many years and have always found Drax & Eggborough to be superb.

As for the " the fancy dress " My Mrs wears the circle skirts, so if I want to keep my bits where they should be , I'll say nothing ! ;)

Many many thanks to Richard & Julie for the DJing opportunity, and for the positive feedback. And for putting such a great night on every month.

Andy.
