Well, what can you say…….

This was the first weekender for the wife and I since returning the country and rediscovering my first love….Soul

We have gone most frequently to the massive Blackhearts, the legendary kings hall...... these amongst other great times such as soulnites and Nuneaton. But…the Blackpool weekender…just feckin stunning…stunning…. STUNNING…. The floor was resonating to the stomping feet in the way that bridge in the US  did which then collapsed due to the induced frequency. I thought the tower would come down :-) I bet they don’t see that very often. It was like being on the sea.

I am still out of words for it…stunning…

I’ve got to say as well that surely there must be 400 people that work at gold soul because the professionalism and sheer number of their associated events at that level is mind boggling for them to be retained at the standard they are. So great thanks to kev Roberts Richard Searling and all those 400  people (i suspect there’s about 5 really)… brilliant mate…thank you.

Also for the first time I was with people at times when the dance floor was quieter and not so dominant and people kindly took the time to talk to me and I can tell you that makes new people feel very welcome in your wonderful home. J the lovely lady D.J chatting to me during the dance final and others. You know who you are.... And to the lady who kept force feeding water to my wife on the dance floor..Thank you...she loves you now :) and if you read this and you are that lady and you are wondering ..yes...she is a feckin idiot....... six hours without leaving the dance floor....If you had seen my wife you would remember her...when she is there she dances longer than anyone else...I am certain of that...we arrive she goes out and dances and does not move until we leave and in all that time dances with great passion...but never moves her feet once in the night......for gods sake..move your feet woman...idiot...she's american so obviously that explains a lot... if you see my wife, she is the sweetest shyest woman in the world....please say hello and as she opens her mouth to reply  immediately  force feed her water.....

And then the dancers……

To see the many superb movers and then the previous champions demostration with the  likes of Keith and Sammy and the others who names I sadly don’t know show us how the moves should be and always do look like in our own mind’s eye but never quite translate to the feet. i don't have a clue how they dance with everyone staring at them all at once....I'd melt down

Wonderful times… Northern soul has taken me home J

Goddam T'internet, I'll get the hang of it soon.

While I am here;:  Congratulations to the lad who won the competition......lovely, classic passionate moves.......all good dancers IMHO....but loved the girl as well.... with moves to match her hair....both the hair* and the moves: quality

 * apologies for mentioning hair on this scene.... i know it's a sore point for some of you out there. i wont mention the H word again

Will i now be removed from the site by a moderator for this? Is mocking and baiting the bald an offense on these forums...

Highlights..... Dave Stabler deservingly winning the dance competition , Sean Chapmans underplayed spot on Saturday( awesome) And young Ethan putting an old pissed up, out of control fkn idiot firmly in his place. Nicely done. It's a bit of a mixed bag is Blackpool- a lot of stuff you wouldn't normally put up with but a lot of things you simply don't get anywhere else . Could moan about a lot of things but in retrospect the good outweighs the bad by a long way. Just wish the ( non soulies) who go wouldn't wave their arms in the air and stand on your feet so much. Still you can't have it all ways and it was a superbly organised event. You pays your money and you take your chance...

Brilliant weekend again at the tower ... We were in the walkway Saturday night and the DJs - Sean C, Sean T, Nige Brown , Julie H, & Yocki  played great music all night and that was my highlight of my weekend  but still enjoyed the ballroom and the circus,, The only thing I would moan about was the Lager it was like dish water and flat as a f%$t but all the great music made up for that..... Thanks to all concerned..  c-ya the next one :-)

We have been to all the November Blackpool Weekenders and I have to say that musically this was poor. Friday night was just bouncing out stompers and 100 mile an hour records no variety really. Saturday was first class with the pick of the spots being Pete Roberts and Oz. Sunday afternoon was OK but early evening turned into another Friday night not surprising that it was a poor turnout with many choosing to go to the local pubs. Must agree with the above - the event was brilliantly organised and even the bar situation was managed a lot better than previous years. I know the queues are too long but hard to see how they can change things. The downstairs 'main' bar was policed by staff to stop the queue jumpers! Well done and thanks to all the Tower staff for making us all so welcome. We love this venue and the people that we meet year after year but I hope that the there is more music variety next year with a bit more of a general soul mixture in the main room.

I was on the balcony and saw a similar incident to this with Ethan. It may have been the same one. He handled it very well but the one I saw were guys on dance floor, indeed, waving their hands, and were being w*nkers, and more importantly i thought, a little aggressive with him. It was one of the single most dangerous events  i have witnessed in a while. :)  They clearly were not part of the scene that I know, the young souls are at most of the events I attend and their contribution is enormous, and growing. The return they get from that enthusiasm seems to be overwhelming love from everyone around them. I see Ethan try to move around Kings Hall and every giant tattooed skinhead he walks passed grabs him and hugs him in. ... i thought those guys harassing Ethan,  if they had gone just a fraction further would have been beaten to death in a moment by just about anybody and their bodies smuggled out under a giant skirt.... I love the love the young souls receive from the community. I was going to jump of the balcony and hardly know the boy :)

I have lived my life with northern soul as the background sound track playing everywhere. I am not coming out for the first time in years now because of the music, I've always loved it, that has never changed. I am here because when jamming, and it often is, the dance floor is absolutely red hot...there is nowhere better to be if you love to dance...,. and the community shows a lot of passion and love.......now that's a scene...

Blackpool once again did all it said on the tin ... and more !  ... proper busy and on a roll all weekend .. from the super rare to classics .. something for all , every day and night ..

The walkway was brilliant  ...  a breath of fresh air , so diverse in every way ,

Well done Dave , a very deserving dance comp winner , with Lauren and Dan very close , a great final three !

No matter how some people try to put this event down its always a winner , because people go and have a great time , from the most hardcore to the casual ...

Ethan and all of the Wigan Young Souls are fantastic people and are part of our Soul family,we live to dance

and love the Northern Soul music and generally enjoy ourselves without any trouble at all.

If the non - soul young males full of testosterone and alcohol think they can turn up and bully and harrass

any of our family then they should think again very quickly indeed,i will go to their aid immedietly and will

attack and defend at will to be rid of these scumbags, they have no place in our community and are there for

one reason only to cause trouble and make fun of us.

Many of the male dancers young and old(er) are very fit and we can and do dance for many many hours in one

night,on top of that we can use ourselves in a fight and are simply not afraid to tackle the idiots,so be

warned, next time you decide to bully I/we might be waiting for you,i for one have had enough of them.

I don't like bullies and will not tolerate seeing it in any form, you are all my Soul Family and I will help you

day or night in any situation, rest assured.

I'm sorry Ron you're probably a huge skinhead and wont appreciate my soft southern reply but what a beautiful response mate :)  fantastic

I made this post as a light moment in the thread. The incident went down as I said but Ethan handled it so well it was nothing in the end. He probably hardly remembers it... just one of those moments........I've never seen violence on the scene nor the need for it....diiots are handled well.... But that is exactly the energy from Ron i am talking about. I have a sixteen year old daughter and seventeen year old daughter that went out for the first time to soulnites all dayer and danced their asses off....... They are safe in this home....... That's  nice....

Nice one Ron  :)
