Following on from the success of our first soul night thanks to the Pincher Twins Dave and Bri, we have the bit between our teeth and raring to go, our guest DJ's need no introduction to people in know on the Rare and Underplayed scene Ron Pedley from York I've been mates with Ron since the mid 70's when he was DJin at the Oval Ball Soul Club.
John Horsler, he is at home behind the decks as he is on the river bank with a rod in his hands landing a £3000 white demo of some in demand underplayed tune, hence his name on SOUL SOURCE "SOUL CARP". Next he'll be filleting a carp with a stylus.
Nev Griffiths a name that is linked with quality tunes, well respected. from the North East often seen in Yorkshire at soul events be hind the decks he is an in demand dj and it is a privilege to have him with us

Thats right Dale, a Young Chris Holmes with hair long hair half way down his back. What a dancer as well, It was great to see him and his wife Sue in full flow on the dance floor. and a young me, I've been told I could spin on my head and do all types of acro's and cossack dancing. I would love to still be able to dance, so don't expect to see me dance, but Chris is still dancing good as ever.

Johno's good, Chris Holmes was talking to him last Saturday. Nev is up this coming weekend for the York Soul Club, he say's he is using it as a practice session for the night at Magnets Northern soul & Motown Revue night. So what does Practice makes PERFECT

So it's going to be a good one, but he doesn't need the practice

After the sad demise of soul nights at The Riley Smith Hall, great to see this one just round the corner, the brain child of Andy Hudson, assisted by Dale. Nice venue, easy to find in the centre of Tad, which itself is just off the A64. Great line up, catching the early doors spot from residents Dale & Andy, guests Ronnie Pedley, John Horsler & Nev Griffiths and then Luke White - fellow resident.

Great tunes throughout from the known to me and some incredible unknowns. Special mention to Luke, with young bucks like this, oozing enthusiasm and some great RnB tracks, the future is bright as it is for soul in Tad with a club like this.

Only food for thought,  ‘northern soul & motown revue’? By no means  a criticism , but the current club name could suggest to many a top 100 oldies night and as such  a   dis service to the enlightened concept and music played.

'A soul night by DJs, collectors for dancers, collectors & DJs'  Indeed it was and very enjoyable to . Well done Andy !

Thanks for the nice comments Andy, very much appreciated I was very pleased you could join us. Our guests and Luke made the night for those that made the effort to attended. Friday night can be a bad night for some due to work commitments but those that did were spoilt by Ronnie, Johnno and Nev's choice of tunes. I was wondering which one of the guests was going to play Robert Tanners "Sweet Memories", I think all 3 have copies, forgive me Ronnie if you have not, I know Nev has as he played at York Soul Club the Saturday before but this Friday it was Johnno who had the joy of playing it. As you say Andy about Luke's enthusiasm, if it could be bottled up and sold by me I would be a very rich man he is also running by us some good ways of promoting the venue that does not include pole dancers and strippers, those were my Ideas till my wife said she would stop feeding me, well you have to give and take so it's back to Luke.

Northern Soul and Motown Revue. Was born 2009 where the music policy was more relaxed and played more cheezy and commercial soul some which I don't like so much.. Dale and myself have been talking about a name change but as we have this years dates ond name on the flyers, it would daft to rename and waste about 2000+ flyers We have not had any complaints as yet and not conned any one to enter and them thinking it's baggy trouser event, but we do still play Northern Soul and Motown WATCH THIS SPACE

Well all i can say is ,what a crackin venue indeed!

Enjoyed the night and all the music played .. was great to see Mick n Mo pay a surprise visit too :)

I think Fridays are sometimes tough going for promoters ,but there were a good few in and always  a few up dancing ,so for me the plus's outweigh any minus's and as Andy B said ,the name might confuse some folk ,but i think in general ,people who know Andy and Dale would know what is on offer .

It was great to be able to play a few records i don't normally spin out as much as i should do ,and also very encouraging that they were well recieved ..even the " Fish song" ..first time i ever played a song that was very new and had people straight up dancing !

Thanks for the invite and i wish you guys much success with the new place for the future ..and hopefully i'll be back soon :)

Should also add that it was very easy to find the place as it's not too far from the A1 .

Just wait till next Year as we employ a first class designer for our flyers and print local to keep cost down and he is working on the design right now
