Welcome to the Grumpy Soul Comments sectiom

This event is now over. Look up now to read the latest reviews of this soul event

Joan's sorted a great sign for outside the club so no excuse for anyone (Mr Cunliffe for example) driving around lost amidst claims of faulty sat navs etc

Flyers done now so we'll be getting em out and about over the coming weeks, keep em peeled. Judging by [very] early interest looks like April is gonna be rammed. Brilliant!

Be good to see you Aid, things are cooking-up nicely. Eight hours of quality mate, start to finish, all aimed at the dancefloor.

I trust that that nice Mr Boardman has recovered from the last one lol. He'd had a few beers the lad. Was really great to see him and think he enjoyed himself as he was still going strong at 4am.

Hi Lynn

Great news that you might be along to join us, I'm sure you'll enjoy it!!

I've just had a look through the old Grumpy threads to find hotel details (cut and pasted by me, info courtesy of our Sharon). We live an hour away from the venue so I can't recommend / not recommend any of these but it's a starting point. Let me know if none are suitable and I will have a look for you

The nearest is The Campanile in Lowlands Road, WA7 5TP you can phone hotel on 01928 581771 or book on-line

There is also The Holiday Inn, Wood Lane, Beechwood, WA7 3HA you can phone them on 0871 423 4876 or you can also book on-line

The furthest away is a Premier Inn in Preston Brook, WA7 3BB you can phone them on 0871 527 8954 or book on-line

Ian, I’ll answer to anything :D

Talk about shaaaambles! haha. I was only down to do Friday night on the DJ time sheet we were all sent with our confirmation letter, how was I to know I had been added to the Saturday night if they didn't tell me. Best thing was I was talking to John at breakfast for a good half hour and he didn’t say anything! I'm good but even I fall short when it comes to mind reading lol

Anyway, no one died and I have to say it was rather amusing at 10.30pm Saturday night:

Maria: "Where are you?"

Joan:  "Watching telly"

Maria: "You're supposed to be DJing"

More like Halle Berry than Berry Gordy Joan

All this wearing of fluffy bunny suits might just arouse the hunting instincts of the district of Lowton's very own

answer to Elmer Fudd (Ian Cunliffe) to get his gat gun out and try and bag a few myxomatosis riddled ole' nothern

Dj has beens,at the last Grumpy's myself and PhilT were debating whether Jane's furcoat was one of Ian's latest kills but couldn't find a bullet hole !! (perhaps he bored it to death with some of hie fishing stories :wicked: )

Not long now so thought I would re-post hotel details in case anyone is thinking of staying over

The club is actually called Canal Walks (former RNA Club) and is right next door to the garden centre. We will have a banner up outside so look out for that

"Oblique sea views" come as standard too Dave i.e. its near a canal. (My first flat in Brighton had that little nugget attached to the description. As it transpired, they were "oblique" in the sense that if I was to hold you out of the window by your feet you could possibly smell salt if the wind was in the right direction. Clinched the deal, obviously; that and the "bijous" kitchen i.e. standing in the middle you can touch both sides with your arms out (advantageous insofar as the "core triangle domestique" is concerned it seems). I was absolutely taken in by these comments, naturally; delivered as they were by a shiny suited, pimply adolescent with a ridiculously large tie knot his mam had done for him and no qualifications whatsoever and, as a direct result, lost about 12k when I came to sell it  ).

Never mind all that old b*llocks anyway, who's coming to Grumpy? Loads of people saying they're right up for it when we've been out and about. Seems to be a hard core plus a different crowd everytime. If everyone turns up at once we'll be knackered lol.

Its a bit frightening when you look at the events calendar, especially given that we checked that date and posted it really early as there didn't seem to be much on at all that weekend. Still, I know where I'd be going if I was a punter ... ... gonna be at least as good as the earlier sessions with those two guests.

If you've not been before, so as to avoid any disappointment: there's NO orangery, meet n greet, pictures of places that burned down, cameras up people's arris, raffle, robbery at the door, old t*ats with no records and huge egos, fondue, Gok Wan, luxurious toilet paper, £20 to park you car ...

Its a simple set-up really: eight hours of proper records in a proper club for anybody who still gets what its supposed to be all about . Roll on

After missing the last one in December, you have no idea how much i'm looking forward to this!

Phil sums it up spot on, its got to be one of (if not THE) BEST Soul Nights of the year. I only wish there were more of them, but you guys are doing right in having 3 or 4 on per year as it leaves us punters chomping at the bit for the next instalment.

As ever an exceptional line up, its no wonder folk come from all over to this event, looking forward to catching up with Mick and Dale from Scotland. We will be celebrating Donna's birthday also.

So roll on 20th April, cant come soon enough.

Sandy x

So Ian you'll be leaving by the same exit as you got it (tight wad) alot of people have often commented and been bewildered by why you practice your swallow dives in the urinals so early in the evening and now we know why :wicked:

Why not give the Gudgeon and stikelbacks a Sunday morning off and stay to the end, or at least set your rod up in the canal outback, and if you catch ought, me and Phil will help you land it, them shopping trollies can be tough buggers at times.
