What a fantastic night last night at The Rafa Club - great support and superb spots from the dj's. Special thanks to Dave and Brian Pinch for travelling so far and for putting so much effort into the night. Extra special thanks to Don Thompson for being the main local guest dj to support the Pinch brothers and for Don's kind words about the night. I know I say this all of the time but "the dj's did deliver the full spectrum of Northern soul, rare soul, crossover and oldies". The 1.00am finish seems to be working well and I'll try to maintain that from the RAFA club management for all soul nights at the club.

Without you the punter we would not have a soul night so, thanks to everyone for turning up especially Mick and Mo who travelled all the way from Skegness and they won the long distance award last night (3.5 hr drive to listen to dj's at the Rafa Club is a testament to what was delivered ) - hopefully we'll have those 2 on the dj list soon as they can deliver the most mouth watering set of crossover and unknown soul. Mick said it would be an honour to dj in the club so we gotta have them on soon.

Next month will be just as busy with Phil T and Jumpin' Joan from Runcorn's "Grumpy Soul Club" - so see you on the 2nd of march for the next installment.

Cheers - Paul Shoulder

R.A.F.A CLUB is fast restoring my faith in what is good about the N.east soul scene !

Great turn out and brilliant music all night ...it most certainly is going in the right direction and the next line up just confirms it .

I've said it before and on the night to a few people ... the venue is almost pefect .

The right size to creat a good atmosphere ,great dancefloor ,good dj set up .. bar in the room ,cheapest entrance fee anywhere in the country and W.C well placed for weak bladder dj's to nip to during a set .lol

Only negative is the Bar staff need to usher the chin strokers away from the bar .lol

Seeya all in March ,if not before in Leeds for Col Denhams dj spot at Driving beat :)

paul is trying his hardest to please everyone, i think its time to go forward instead of backwards .you are still getting the big classic sounds but mixed with more recent played stuff and all on original records wich makes a big difference to some people, the cumby had it dead right in mho ,and paul and the lads put a lot of hours into the rafa trying to get the balance right, the numbers are picking up a bit now because of the guests and i hope it continues to do so, col

Been and gone - look forward to next month - see the link on 2nd March page - get your comments (hopefully ++++ ones) in to keep this club getting the recognition it deserves. I'll put the play list up on Monday showing the kind of stuff played.

So, lets look to the future months - some great dj's lined up from all over the country (thanks to Ackers and Al Coney for contacts) - will keep you all posted.
