Someone mind explaining what "Till late" means? :g: To me it means 7am but to some it means 1:30am, any earlier than that makes it early pub hours, so come on what time is it? Please don't say something daft like 12'ish.

Spot. :shades:

Hi Spot, We were not certain as to what time it will finish, the stewardess was looking into applying for a extension from the normal 12,00 club licence finish. We do hope the 1 hour extension has been granted, Whatever you are in for a top night in music and with top people.

Well I think as far as re-launches go it couldn't have gone any better.Great room which was packed to standing space only, plenty of new faces to go along with the usual old & worn ones(hope they didn't frighten any of the new comers.....they do me I know them).Looks like the management are on side allowing a little longer playing time on the first night, which bodes well for longer opening times in the future? It would have been a pity to leave too early as there had been so many great sounds played by all behind the decks I'm sure there was room for a few more

So welcome back York Soul Club you've been missed.

Cheers

Have to say I'm very much looking forward to this. Bit giddy if truth be known!

Gracing the decks at my hometown club will be a privilege... following in the footsteps some of the Soul Scenes finest DJ's who've smashed out some of the rarest platters in the land.

Bring it on.

Second night at the new venue & the question was could it live up to the re-launch night?Well it was as good if not better imo.New venues great, numbers great, atmosphere great & the music far better then great,as someone quipped "York Soul Club's got it's mojo back" & I think that sums it up perfectly.Thought all behind the decks played a blinder & John's old Andy Rix inst of Jean Wells-With My Love and What You've Got sounded brill again & I'm sure is set to be a biggie for him in the coming months.I think special mention should go to Gary Brown making his début at his home night & he did just what was asked in playing a set of real quality tunes that was put together with great skill & imagination.......I think the future is rosey with young dj's like him about. So it's official YSC is back!!!

Bring on March when there's a couple reprobates from Hull behind the decks so it could get a bit messy

Cheers

TnT

Big thank you for asking me to spin last night. It was great to have the opportunity to dig a bit deeper in the playbox and give an airing to some tunes that I dont play at Empty Bottles and have to think on my feet a bit!

Funny to think that I bought my first Northern record (booty of Whats Wrong With Me Baby for £4) from a sales box at Holgate in the 90s. Then 18 or so years later Im behind the decks. Who'd have thought it eh? Certainly not me.

So last night closed the loop, so to speak. And the bootys have all long since gone, of course.

It was lovely to spin to an appreciative crowd too. The applause from the room at the end of my set was a really nice moment and made it all the more special.

Also lovely to introduce my better half to some of the crew. Angela had a ball and I might even let her out of the cupboard under the stairs more often now!

Being a guest I got to the do early and I gonna make sure Im there early more often as Tony was spinning some right gems. Some stuff Id not heard and some that I'd not heard in ages. All silky-smooth top drawer as normal from the man.

Next up Trev who dialed up the tempo and played a few crackers. Theres nowt worse than starting your set when the DJ before you fills the bloody floor with his last tune..., ta for that Trev!! ;-)

Then John after me with a fine, fine set of classy Northern.

A very hard act for Col to follow but Col steadilly filled the floor with a cracking diverse mix of tunes across all tempos. Lovely!

Next up the residents dished up a belting finale of proper dancers, old faves and gems.

Does it get any better than this? Not very often imo.

Brilliant night, cracking atmosphere, energy, great tunes. It had the lot.

Cheers

Firstly my appologies to spot for my laziness in not posting the event and only pasting. Secondly thanks once again another cracking night helped by a consistency of top drawer soul music from start to finish from all behind the decks and thirdly as always a major thankyou to all who support York Soul Club both those who travel and our local contingent keeping us going from strength to strentgh. IT MAKES IT ALL WORTHWHILE ;@) Next one is with Guests Martyn Bird and Steve Gainey from The East Coast of Hull both Fantastic fellas with Collections to match hope ya can make it. Cheers T N T
