Looking forward to this tonight. It's a brilliant venue with great resident djs - the two guest djs tonight, Kenny and Nige, are always worth the trip there. Always great sounds played.

another great night, thanks to everybody who came, all 215 of you, and to kenny and nige, two great fellas and great djs, we always go out to listen at other clubs to get djs of this quality, and play tracks that we dont have so it does,nt get stale, sorry about the couple of knobheads who had drinks on the floor, a quick word soon shifts em, but you get this at most clubs. look forward to june now.

Great venue and great music, but packed with non soulies which made the rest of us feel like a novelty act at a wedding reception. Unfortunatley the knobheads shouting and messing around on the dancefloor ensures that we, and other soulies that we spoke to, won't being going again.

the problem we have is that on other sat nights they have a normal over 30s disco, so they turn up expecting this despite us telling them all by facebook and the engine shed website, but there was more soulies than "normal" people as you could tell by the dancing and the requests we get for records. i,ve been to many soul nights at working mens clubs with the locals on the lash all day, come in at night, spilling beer and taking the piss, how things have never kicked off is a miracle, even seen it at skeggy weekender. were sorry that your disappointed with the night and some local pricks ruining it for others, but thanks for your comments, jeff.

That was a great night out - dance floor was rocking right from the start and stayed that way all night. Andy and Jeff are great hosts playing some great tunes and the two guest djs, Kenny Rolls and Nige Grice, did a superb job. Kept everyone dancing. My achy knees today will vouch for the quality of music! Thanks - lovely atmosphere, lovely people and lots of varied brilliant soul. See you at the next one.

Hmm yes - just a thought. I looked at the shed website and Facebook page a few times prior to the event, and I thought publicity for the northern night was understated to say the least. Can only hope that over a period of time this will be sorted. I think it depends where you were sat as well - we certainly enjoyed it still.

Another great night at the Engine Shed in Wetherby, Two great and very professional guest djs who kept the dancefloor busy all night with some amazing tunes. A great bar staff that worked tirelessly all night to prevent queues forming at a very busy bar. Unfortunately we had a couple of incidents the first occurred just after Nige Grice had taken to the decks at 11.00 where a guy was shouting on the dancefloor he was approached by Jeff and given a warning that if his behaviour continued he would be removed from the club. A later incident occurred just after I had taken to the decks at Midnight where someone was dancing with drinks on the dancefloor I was informed of this and asked him via the microphone to remove himself from the dancefloor which he did.

If ever anybody has a problem at the Engine Shed all they need to do is approach me, Jeff or any of the staff and we will do our best to accommodate.

We run this club for Soulies, but unfortunately its difficult for door staff to tell the difference between soulies and non-soulies.

The problem we have is if Soulies boycott the Engine Shed because of a couple drunks and a few locals then the Northern Soul Scene will loose a top class venue.

Many Thanks

Andy

Me and Mrs Patto went Saturday night coming up from Donny. This is a really nice venue with a great dancefloor and it has great potential. However it can't be ignored that there is a big contingent of non soulies that attend . The idiots that were shouting and staggering all over the floor with drink in hand showed no respect for the dancers, the dancefloor,or the DJs.Could well understand Nige Grice getting upset when he is playing top sounds being shouted over by the idiots. Really feel sorry for the promoters that are obviously putting in a lot of hard work and care a lot about the night. Its a difficult one if you lose the soulies you will still be left with a good attendance of locals but the night will just degenerate into a club soul affair .On the other hand if you stick to a Good music policy with top guest DJs and try to keep out the rabble you may suffer on the numbers and the club owners wont be happy. What i can say is there was some good music played and me and the wife danced to a few and enjoyed it,so it was worth the trip.

eyup patto, thanks for the comments, both me and andy enjoy doing this night and meeting new people, we do put a lot of work into it, so we arnt going to have it ruined by some arseholes, were having a meeting with the owners tomorrow with some ideas. there are non soulies who come, but they have come to the last 3 events and told me that they really enjoy it,so where do we draw the line,. it costs us a fair bit to hire this place so we need the numbers in, but would rather have 150 soul lovers in than 300 of a mixed bag. hope last sat night has,nt put you off coming again, if it ever comes to the time when were playing soul music to just handbaggers and dregs after the pubs have shut we,ll call it a day, cheers mate , jeff.

Nice one Jeff, Keep at it mate and keep trying to get good DJs and it stands a good chance. There was a nice mix of music played saturday 60s and 70s which is nice as i like Oldies and R&B and Bev likes the 70s.You have what most don't a great venue. You also appear to be open to fair comments which i respect. Me and Bev will return  i'm sure.

Please don't give in - the venue is great, your djs are great, you're putting so much into this. As the song says 'it takes time' . There's a lot of people behind you wanting this venue to succeed. More prominent posts on the website, pr and word of mouth will hopefully get a result.
