Inner Circle Soul Club -Mahood/Ripolles/Wainwright Details

Part three and nearly all the residents in one night again, last month with Soul Sam, Dave Ripolles, Phil Wainwright & Gumbo was a great night and thanks to all who made it down, was nice to have you there and it really blew up in the early hours of the morning, as ever.

Setting off into this new year we have George Mahood back after a strong month in Europe. With him will be a box of unreleased & absolute dynamite dub plates along with his usual ever changing armory that is seemingly unstoppable and incredibly infectious. Along with us also is Dave Ripolles, it's great to hear what he pulls out of the collection with no pressure of a genre to conform to, personally i'd say it certainly brings the freedom and expression out in the sets from him and his esteemed box and collection. Phil Wainwright has the knack of stumping many people with his insatiable appetite for music, often pulling out the trans-genre records that really do work in the Soul Club and along with a solid, well built collection it is captivating hearing him sew it all together. Gumbo (myself) has/have a few tricks up my sleeve and as you imagine playing with this strength of a team there is no time for a weak link.

Rumor (by means of the man himself) has it that Soul Sam will be joining us also as he enjoyed the night so much last month so it would certainly be rude not to have him spin just a few for you.

This all happens in a fantastic and intimate cellar bar with a crisp clear sound system.

Hope to see some of you there again this month.

Thinking of attending this night. I've 'route planned' the post code and it seems to take you to a Swinbourne Grove just off Wilmslow Rd. Is the building on Wilmslow Rd? What is the building, a pub, night club?

Also could anyone advise on a decent hotel/motel nearby (walking distance of short taxi) like a Travel lodge etc?

Cheers.

Drew.

Hi Drew,

Yes the venue is on Wilmslow road just next to the One Shop convenience store and literally a regular wooden door down into a cellar. As for hotels here is what I imagine to be an affordable hotel well within waking distance otherwise you'd have slightly more expensive travel lodge or premiere Inn around 3/4 mile or so.

I'd say the top hotels in this list would all be fairly serviceable

Hope that helps

..Well that was a bit bloody good!! Packed to the rafters with regulars, locals and more than a smattering of Soul Scene faces out to see what the fuss is about. Musically diverse, as we like it, from Deep funk to Deep disco with enough Rare soul, modern, and 60's in between to keep the dance floor rammed pretty much all night! A steady stream of people coming down from about nine and almost resulting in dancefloor gridlock by the time George finished up with the last three..(.or was that five G?) at 2.00a.m....

Honestly, if you fancy something just a little bit different, and you only want to try one new venue this year ,make sure its the Inner Circle Soul Club @ Indigo!!
