This month sees a flurry of guest DJs in the celebrated soulful basement.

Steve Guarnori has been a supporter of the 6TS R&S society since its birth in seedy London dives. He published an influential magazine called Black Beat back then and has stuck with rare soul ever since accumulating one of the very best collections in the world. His taste is catholic and if it’s a super-rarity you’re looking for it’s odds on he’s got it.

Alan H was still at school (primary) when he first ventured down the stairs of 100 Oxford St. He grew up musically through decades of great soul sounds in the Capital and has always looked on the 6TS as his alma mater. He co-ran the terrific Dome Soul sessions for the Capitol Soul Club and now has his own mainly R&B based nights that attract connoisseurs from all over Europe.

Mick H (no relation) is proper Northern with a gob and the records to go with it. A true DJ who will whip up the excitement levels bellowing the merits of not remaining with your bum on a seat. He has mouth watering rarities and is vastly experienced as he knows how to suit his sounds to the crowd. A right raver who stays till he’s ejected.

Tomas McGrath A recent recruit to the Northern Soul underworld who is enjoying every minute of it. He has an amazingly impressive DJ box when you consider his tender years and has run his own nights as well as guested at many others. His wide taste means he can also adapt to the needs of the dancers on the night and his different perspective of the scene, unchained by history, makes his sets refreshingly different.

Ady Croasdell Still at it and thanks to Kent records and the day job has acetates of previously unheard vintage mid 60s soul tracks that are superb. Recent finds by Melvin Parker, June Jackson, Berna Dean and the Entertainers are up there with the Maxines, Melbas, Paramount 4 and Luther Ingram of earlier 6TS nights.

And the new air con system is up and running. Whoo-Pee!

Me and Wends'll be there prior to the Hull City Tigers (or whatever we're called now) potentially embarrassing appearance the following day a tad further down the frog & toad at Stamford Bridge.......

(Ady you'd best not keep Steve G back too long as he might need to be at that there Selhurst Park for a 1.30 k.o. against Tottingham and it's a long way on his bike)

"Not going next week Kev, I'm knackered" says I to Rasfoz last Sat (admittedly with a sly grin on my face.) "You'll be there" he replies.

Oh - go on then. Just the little matter of Norwich v Everton at Carrow  Rd first, meet up with the crew and hit the blue posts...

Willow is fine.

It was a panic attack bought on by exhaustion- no more no less.

And she is looking forward to the anniversary.

And it was a brill night.

Everyone I spoke too was having a superb time.

I'm looking forward to the anniversary already.

Has anyone any clues on what the single will be.?  -:)

Another top night at the 100 club as usual, quality music by quality dj's. Being August i thought it would have been abit quieter, but no was a good crowd there throughout the night, its the best ive seen the floor for a long while (polish wise) great to see some old faces and to meet some new faces, some good quality young dancers there saturday night with real passion. Hope that young girl is ok, little bit worrying at first but she came around and was in good hands. hope to see you all in october. i hope you all enjoy yourself at the anniversary, cheers Billy. ps - come on geoff you normally do a good write up

That's great news Tabs, it was a horrible thing to happen to her. The first time I can remember a paramedic down there in all those years, you'd have put odds on them attending one of us old farts not a fit young dancer. The crowd's reaction was superb, just chatting among themselves while the medics did their job, it took about 15 mins altogether and everyone was happy it was mainly during my spot. I thought the nighter was terrific particularly musically and dance-wise. The floor could have been better, I'll sort that for the anniversary and the air con was so good, I got them to turn it off and forgot to tell them to put it on again, I'm so used to it being sweltering down there. The anniversary record was actually ready last week! But it's top secret of course, you'll find out on the night. Thanks to all who attended.

It was scary for all of us Ady.

But you couldn't have wished for a better crowd reaction.

No panic just genuine concern.

But all’s well that ends well.

And it hasn't put Willow off.

So she will be in attendance at the anni.

And it was a cracking night, thoroughly enjoyed it.

Well my guess for the anni single is the Spinners.  -:)

See you all under Oxford Street at the end of Sept.

Indeed a fantastic night and I haven't enjoyed myself so much in ages...quality tuneage all night long - couple of my faves Ralph Graham "She just sits there" (Alan) and Ann Sexton "I still love you" (Mick). Dance floor was in really good shape and the air con was on just above where we sat - bonus! Some great dancers, one I think was Oscar Romp and an 18 year old girl from Bristol who was superb. Looking forward to the big one next month!!

Mark C

PS..Billy don't go in October - it's not on! (Nov 2nd)
