Ok looking forward to this brand new night for those who want some upbeat perhaps underplayed but not rare northern soul. We'll be able to give an airing to those tunes that have sat at the back of our playboxes and B sides that we may have forgot about. The venue is made for northern soul with a great floor so come and give us a try and as Col said a free cd to mark the opening night. As the saying goes it does what it says on the tin Pumping Hearts Soul Club - Heart pumping soul music.

Sandi and i will be there, hope it can fill the local void for a more progressive soul night.

Some great tunes listed, Benny Mahan a Dave Shaw fave from Casino/Clifton hall days, Bbby M'clure is just an all time classic, the Dells a fave of mine, and then theres Jimmy Burns, the only version for me, a truly monster tune, that in 82 at the Cavendish Mick and Chris had the only 2 copies known.

A nice mx of tunes from across the years, that we mostly know, but seldom here out, why?? that like record pricing is a total mystery with no obvious pattern, or sense, years ago i stoped trying to work it out, realising what matters is playing good records, the one and only requirement you need , price or obscurity, has no relation to quality

A venue that provides an intersting musical expeience is so refreshing to our area, whos pedigree for having sound breaking venues for years, but a lack of interest to step out of a safe zone of old , usually great music, finds our region can only have 10 possibly 15 folks going to Lifeline, when like a true gift it dropped on our doorstep, saddend me and my peers, hope this night might move some peoples outlook into forward thinking , and a taste for new sounds

Hi Paul thanks for the positive comments it will be good to see you and Sandy at this new venture and we hope it takes off. As we have said its our aim to air some of those forgotten or underplayed tunes which we hope people will fondly say I remember how good was that or come and ask what was that tune you just played. So roll on the 1st installment of 'pumping hearts' see ya on the 30th March.

Hi all Just had it confirmed that if we get enough customers in and willing to stay till the end the proprietor see's no reason why the night can't be extended as long as we are out for 2am along with the bar being extended till at lease 1am to support this. So let's see if we can really get this gig off to a great start.... see you on the 30th

Looks like the makings of a good night with tunes like those mentioned getting a play. Always a good sign when the well known is mixed with lesser known. Just wish I could make it .....June is in the diary though! Jay

gaz, echoe paul's sentiments but unfortunately you've missed the brief mate, that i recently critisized a lot of would be promotors on here for, that essentially, barring yourself, you're NOT listing the dj's....sorry gaz this IS a crucial element. my point certainly aroused consternation...yes you might want to talk about it on facebook or twitter as they are bigger forums, but the whole point of soulsource is to air your musical genre on HERE,...AFTERALL, its about soul. its all well and good putting up a potential playlist, but what does get played is entirely up to your guests and residents. the guile and craft to play to the floor is about picking the right tunes and making sure these tunes keep the punters happy and dancing. soulies will give it the initial outing, especially a new venue, but you're up against it straight away as a confusing and cluttered calender suggests and unfortunately thats where my arguement began...its about sorting the wheat from the chaff. a good soul night by definition is intuitive djs with well structured collections...if you DONT tell the punters who you've got on, how are they going to trust you, despite your personal reputation?.

Well, this looks like its going to be a blinding night !!!!

With a line up of these guys at the decks who I know just have a real passion to play great Soul to an appreciating audience, as you can see from the flyer.

Its really nice to see someone take the time to at least list some tunes of the style and ilk that may get played

that night, not a strict playlist , i'm guessing , but just to give the punters a flavour of what they might expect ......

good effort guys.

I know these guys are doing this for the love and desire to please the crowd that want to dance, and the fantastic uptempo feel to the night ahead is gonna have me fizzin' on that dancefloor, whether i know the tunes or not ........

I just love to hear tunes i have'nt heard before, or for years, especially when they are great Soul tunes, and knowing the fantastic collections these guys have, but dont get the chance to share just fill me with anticipation

for a banging, quality, uptempo, enpassioned , full of love......... night of Soul music and .........DANCIN'

GO FOR IT !!!!!!!!!!

Its fantastic to see these guys take a risk to do something to please the Midlanders, and a lot of folks attending from outside from what I've been hearing..........A nice little buzz about this event. And great positive comments from those of you who have taken the effort to comment.

I just love enthusiasm, and love for the WANT to please the crowd, and I know this is what these guys want to do

Sounds like a fantastic venue too, have heard the dancefloor is great, so bring it on, wishing this speculative

night all the very best of wanting Soulies attendance.

And to add to my comment above, Sean Hayden is guesting in June ??? Can't wait .....

His spot at the last Burnley all nighter just blew my head clean off with the tunes he played, didnt know some of them ......but couldn't get my head off that floor, awesome

stuff !!!!!! and a real touching edge to the tribute to a close friend of his.

Bring on the June event too.

With the weather looking s**t and cold over Easter come and brighten up ya week end at the red hot Pumping Hearts 1st night this Saturday 30th March. All round looks like it's gonna be a cracking night and you'll be welcomed by a friendly bunch of Black country folk and some belting soul music.

Just a couple of hours to go !!!!

I've been looking forward to this since I first heard about it from Jamo & Chris. A night where the music is reminiscent of the sounds heard at Sean Haden's famous allnigters in Burnley, Steve Cato's "Different Strokes" in Manchester, The Back Room of "New Century Soul" Radcliffe Suite Manchester and Go-Go Children Bristol to name a few influences.

This is not modern music, this is overlooked, underplayed or newly discovered by people who are passionate about classic Soul. The sound is fresh and has an energy that just puts a big smile on your face, Who would have thought that this was even possible, new oldies that are set to become classics turning up now. This scene just continues to confound and impress.

Throw in a smattering of classic oldies and you've got the night in a nutshell. "Pumping Heart", says it all - this will get the blood well and truly flowing.

Gaz, Jamo, Chris & Snowy - GOOD LUCK ON YOUR FIRST NIGHT AND THANKS FOR PULLING THIS OFF

Lastly, I am so looking forward to seeing Snowy DJ a set that isn't the opening slot - JOY !!

What a great night that was !!! "THANK YOU" everyone for your support and comments, a brilliant venue to have a soul night but without you guys it would all have been for nothing. The DJ's did me proud and I thank them sincerely. The room started to fill very early on with Snowy banging out tunes in his formidable manner and that set the pace for the rest of the night. As the room got packed so did the dance floor and it stayed that way right through till we had to push you out the door Great night great venue and above all great honest soulies enjoying both old and new sounds an honour to play to you.

Excellant feedback from a brilliant turnout for us on our 1st night some excellant tunes played with 95% up tempo dancing music being the foundation for what looks like being a winner of a night. If you fancy something a little different but still with the emphisis on solid dance music come and join us for the next one 15th June.

Absolutely brilliant night. Just what we need, Burnley mk2 here in the West Midlands!! 100mph tunes from start to finish, some I'd never heard before. Can only see it going from strength to strength with longer opening hours from the next one in June. Liked having a room off the main room to go and have a natter and look at the records for sale. Great job by the DJ's and what a revelation Chris Davies was, he's fairly new to the decks but I'm sure we're gonna hear a lot of him in the future. Well done chaps!! Keep Right On!!
