Seems like ages since the last Hollingwood, can't wait for Sat ! Saw Rob [smith] at Drax & he's up for it & got some nice gems ready to pull out [ he's on 10 - 11pm & Glynn at 11 - 12pm ]

Both top Nottingham DJs with some cracking sounds so it should be a night to look forward to !

See you there

On the countdown to the weekend! (Thank goodness for short weeks at work!) - seems like ages since the last Hollingwood but not long now before Glynn and Rob open up their record boxes for us! Hoping to see old friends and new faces - Hollingwood is definitely worth a visit.

I for one really enjoyed last night! Some excellent feedback from folks at the end of the night as well which is most important because when you're involved, I think it makes you more critical than you need to be ! Chris and Mort were ensured that the night started and ended on a 'high note' (no pun intended!) leaving Glyn Sisson and Rob Smith time to play some blinders! The music was top notch and I am really grateful to have been there to see a couple of masters, with such Northern Soul pedigree between them, at work.

Next month; 4th May with David Raistrick and Coops

Me and Mrs Patto went last night despite a leg injury which almost stopped me driving and killed when i had a dance.Wanted to go back to the Hollingwood as it was 17 years (Ouchl) since we were last there.Thought the night took a while to get moving but in the end a good crowd brought the atmosphere up nicely. We Travelled From Donny and came realy For The Underplayed Music Policy. The DJs That Delivered this best in my opininion were Glyn Sissons and Chris Cooper and if it weren't for my leg i would have hit the floor a lot more.So well done to the promoters for getting this iconic old Skool venue back on its feet and we hope to return as long as it doesn't turn into just another Soul Night.Might be a good idea to post some playlists to show punters the quality that got played as there was some top stuff.

I totally agree with your comments Patto and a playlist would be great as you say. Chris will have to get on to it.

Thanks for the comments Patto, we were only saying among ourselves about how the night semms to take a while to get going, but it does eventually, must be something missing in the Hollingwood ale, lol must say I've heard Glyn many times over the years but I dont think I've ever heard him better than he was last night. Mr Smith to, in my humble opinion spun some cracking tunes and I think he really appreciated the opportunity to do so. It isnt easy trying to run anight based on rare and underplayed , along with the classics, when so much around these days is just the same old same . But it can be done, and folks will dance to it just as much as the regular stuff as I saw the previous night at Davys when Sean Chapman blew us away with his set. Looking forward to Mr Raistrick and Coops next month. Will post a play list later when I can get me backside out of this chair

Cheers for the reply Chris agree about Glyn's set would like to see that listed.Yours as you say contained a lot of well known stuff but struck the balance well i thought which as you say is difficult when your trying to fill the floor as well as trying to spin underplayed stuff.Liked Emanual Lasky, and the Fab Apollos, but with my leg if id have tried to dance to Curtis Lee i would have needed an ambulance. Rob did spin some crackers a few old Cleggy 70s which the wife loves.By the way who's was the red Mark one Jag in the car park another classic original.
