Thats a shame Julie. Was good to see you and to meet Paul at Cinderford, and look forward to catching up with him on the 17th

. Probably see you at Cinderford in June for more fun in the forest.

Just spent 2 days sorting S**t load of records but i think i'm there now Narrowed it down to about 200 to play when i've only got time for 20.

I hope a few die hard's come early as ive got some real nice treats in the box including some realy rarely played oldies.

All ranging from rare soul, underplayed oldies, R n B monsters , in demand new sounds and also a few classic oldies as well.

Lookin forward to seeing old and new friends.

See you there.

One of the best feelings in the world Gary. When you find a cobwebbed tune at home, put it on then stick it in your box all excited.

Its gonna be a belter of a weekend, and I dont just mean the weather.

DJ's confirmed, am ready for setting up in the morning.

So we'll see you all tomorrow.

a few sound issues early on but not Kev's fault. Good to see familiar and friendly faces. Ted massey's set was great even though Kev kept me talking outside while ted played "strange" now that is indefensible mr such! :-). Stayed and danced till the lights came on. Thank you mister for making us so welcome.

Think we had a good one Saturday. Certainly makes it worthwhile when you see people dancing and sticking with it. Admittedly we had a few problems with the sound quality. Cant understand how it can go from going well to having trouble within 30 to 40 minutes, and then being fine again for the remainder of the night. Appreciate all who attempted to sort it, but it turned out to be simply volume levels. Apologies to Mark for keeping him from "Strange". You should have just walked away mate, I would have understood. Personally I cant find any fault in the calibre of tunes played and the DJ's for their individual imput( although someone did and I gave them their money back) . Largest praise to the Jacobs though,( especially who was still there at 02.30am) for the people who arrived at the off to The Stalkers who arrived at 12am and ALL in between. To Dave Winn and his Mrs who chose the Cream Cracker as their 1st Northern Soul event to attend. I do get a tad dispondent at times and ask myself why? I know that Cream Cracker isnt going to be everyones cup of tea. I dont and wont go across the board or start incorporating Motown just to attract more people in.I do believe that everyone who left early missed an amazing spot from Ted Massey and Dave Wood. The next Cream Cracker is 9th of August and its the 9th Anniversary. Thanks again to all and I hope to see you somewhere soon. Next for me is a Scooter Rally with Al Shaw, Mick Pipe and Spanner.

Kind regards

Kev (Dont do Modern) Such.

P.S. The Smiggy fopa was a classic, and you couldnt have wrote it.

Kev

Not quite sure if this should be on here or were Kev posted his comment in the Playlist Page about not having residents,so feel free to move it?

I follow these events with great interest & it's certainly on the "must visit" list as the ethos of "No Residents" really works for me (& others I know).I go to Mill Lane Rare & Underplayed(Bradford) soul night's & that has the same "No Residents" format, attending these night's has changed my opinion on how night's should be run & think the "No Resident" is the way forward? It puts a larger burden on the promoter to get his line up right for the type of night he wants to run but once he gets that right it allows for a far more varied & exciting night imo.As a punter I love the fact that each night is different & you know you're going to hear something different every time,I also know that I'm going to hear some stuff I don't like but that comes with the territory & I personally don't class that as a problem?I love the range of sounds from the frighteningly rare to the lesser rare tunes played side by side without a problem, played by passionate dj's who just want to share great soul music.

Hopefully you'll be seeing some of us in the future
Just thought I'd share my twopenny worth.

Cheers

Martyn
