SCOTTISH SOULFUL WEEKENDER 3 @ The Cairndale Hotel Dumfries Scotland

Numbers are building and ticket sales are well up on last year already.

Hotel rooms @ the venue itself, The Cairndale, have sold out but not to worry there are a plethora of hotels and B&B's surrounding the event available - we stayed @ The Best Western directly opposite the train station and just round the corner from The Cairndale last year - ideal.

People already booked for The Scottish Soulful Weekender from Italy, France, Ireland, Germany, Holland, Japan, Sweden and the US.

The heads from the Manchester area seems to have at last picked up on SSW at last - mind you the line up seems to have been a major factor in that one, particularly strong this year.

Not forgetting that myself and Richard Francis will be hosting the off-site 'Beat The Street' room which blew up as a venue in it's own right last year - packed to the rafters.

I'll keep you updated on any further info - watch this space.

Cheers

Nice to have our first ever booking from some folk from Belgium for SSW. The international list of guests attending SSW grows each year so nice to have the love spread to Belgium. Massive increase in London folk attending this year also so a warm welcome is extended to our friends from down South, you will love the Scottish hospitality and soulful 'n' jackin' vibes that await you. Scotland is the capital of the world when it comes to New Years Eve (Hogmanay) celebrations and that is for a very good reason.....co's we know how to throw a party better than ANYBODY ELSE!

Just had confirmation the the hosting venue The Cairndale Hotel has sold out of rooms - The White Hart, another nice gaff alongside also has sold out of rooms and the Best Western Hotel, The Station over the road has maybe, and I mean maybe, one room left.

There are a plethora of B&B's and a Travelodge, Premier Inn etc close by - but it seems that SSW3 is definately gathering momentum.

SCOTTISH SOULFUL WEEKENDER OFFICIAL WARM UP PARTY!!

Richard Francis and myself are teaming up with local SSW regular jocks Stav & Struan to open SSW3 with a little get together on Thursday 31st October @ BROONS BAR Dumfries, a minutes walk from The Cairndale Hotel itself and the night before the Weekender proper - to bring you the best in Soul, Disco, Modern, Funk, House etc etc and most points inbetween.

The SSW3 staff will be on site so expect a tidy but no doubt somewhat manic pre-party. More to follow.

Okeh guys, SSW is very pleased to announce the first of our AFTER PARTY DJ's who will be getting the party started on Sunday night for the final 5 hours of SSW3. This man is one of the most influential behind the scenes men in the business with a musical career that spans 40 years of genre breaking music. Gettin' the party started from 11.00pm on Sunday will be none other than.......NEIL RUSHTON.......Neil fell in love with Soul Music as a schoolboy visiting The George in Walsall. By 1974 Neil was DJ'ing in the legendary Catacombs, alas the doors closed at the Catacombs but undeterred Neil turned to promoting. In later years he inaugurated the Heart Of England Soul Club and at just 21 Neil was DJ'ing and promoting at the iconic All-Dayers at The Ritz, Manchester, initially a northern soul gig the Ritz would later evolve into one of the U.K.s top Jazz/Funk dayers. Later Blackpool Mecca events followed and Neil was attracting some 3,000 black music fans and presenting massive live acts such as Sylvester, Al Hudson and Crown Heights Affair. Neil also set up the Inferno record label aimed at the burgeoning Northern Soul market and along with the likes of The Carstairs (first worldwide release of the Tom Moulton mix of "It Really Hurts Me Girl"), Frank Beverly And The Butlers, Gloria Jones, Ann Sexton, The Showstoppers, Inferno also picked up the rights to Freda Payne and Chairmen Of The Board. By the 80's House Music was the new sound, Neil was again at the fore with his Kool Kat Record label. The likes of Pete Tong were already hoovering up all the material from Chicago so Neil focused on Detroit. "I contacted Derrick May and that phone call to him changed my life as they say" recalled Neil. Soon Neil was managing Derrick, Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson and Kevin's group Inner City and Kool Kat morphed into Network which became one of the most successful House labels in the World. In More recent times Neil managed the suSU label (Masters Of Work, Blaze, Southport Weekender), liased with Octave One (Blackwater) on projects, published two books (Northern Soul Stories, Hype & Soul - Behind The Scenes At Motown) and his Soulvation set up is busy promoting events including Soul Weekenders at Newquay, Weston-Super-Mare and Westward Ho, all this and he is reviving All-Dayers at the Manchester Ritz too!. He has also restarted the Inferno label and is working with ex-Drizabone main man Vince Garica on the Bluewater recording project and new label Fluffy Needle. With all this history, expect the unexpected from the Simon Cowell of the soul and house scene.
