Well last time we were there, we were surrounded by Xmas trees & festive lighting, Larry! But then with all the dancers that enjoy Colne's 'Little Casino' (as one Wiganer christened it), think we can light up the dance floor without any help! ;-) see you there Roman & Larry, dance shoes at the ready, K&G x

Will be good to see you both, I was up in the balcony for awhile filming, it looked surreal what with the lights and beer, and have me and Larry been entered into the dance comp? Reminds me, Larry is a guest dj at Ighten Mount on May 3rd. along with Ian Walsh, as for the Muni, what a great venue and this year its our 13th anniversary so look out for something special on August 10th here.

Keith cant do this one, so another guest will appear when i sort it, The Muni have asked us to consider an all dayer to raise funds for a local charity, I think that would be awesome at this venue, the home of the Great British Blues Festival, look out for news of this. The film we shot last year has taken a lot longer to tie down than i thought but things are getting closer to fruition , realistically i think the August do here would see the fi;lm go on sale, R

Busy last night, top tunes played and sometimes it was difficult to find space on the dance floor. Sorry the DJ's had to repeatedly tell some punters to keep bags and drinks off the dance floor, that is a matter of basic respect. Keep up the good work guys because you deserve loads of support.

You,re right about the handbags and the drinks Stu. But i,m sure a lot of people enjoyed the night- not really for us

though. We thought it was a NS event- not a disco ( zing went the strings of my heart ?). Cant argue with the numbers

- hundreds in, mostly pi##ed and having a good time.Fair enough i suppose. Just not my cup of tea.

Got to agree with Geoffp, if you,ve got any amount of northern dancers in then play to keep them on the floor, because the piss heads and clueless will dance to anything anyway. Won,t be back sorry.

I also agree with geoffp & MsSoulie!!

This was my first time at this venue after hearing some fantastic reports of how good it is; I always go to new venues with an open mind to the music being played and the people who attend but last night it didn't take me long to figure out it would be my first & last time.

First impression was why the need for Bouncers? in the last 15 years of attending soul days & nights I have only seen 1 incident & that was the  idiot at the Blackpool weekender dance final.

As there was absolutely no chance of getting a seat or even a decent standing place in the main room I stayed in the bar area and as geoffp stated there was a lot of pi##ed people, not the style of usual N/S people.

I am sure there was a good time had by a lot of people just not for us though.

got to agree, been a few times to this great venue, and have accepted it's not really a northern soul night but it's always had a good atmosphere.but last night was the worst, would have left early if i had'nt been with others, too many drunks and djs seem to not want to play any real northern dancers so as not to upset the locals.and a few complaining of the amount of chatter between records,it's put me off attending any more

Each to their own. I understand the complaints, but the flier does say "A night of classic soul and Motown".

I personally like the Muni event and a big thank you to all the DJs. I had another great night.

Yup I agree with a lot of the above comments - too many sherried up ladies with big handbags. A lot of the music played was also very safe - too much very mainstream tamla played for the handbagfers and not a lot of northern that made me want to leap onto the dance floor. Speaking of which - the floors not very good. All the radiators were on in the hall too - made it very hot. It's a nice place and usually a good atmosphere - I would welcome anyone to a northern night to try it and enjoy it - but hmmm this time, too many sizzled handbaggers tipped the balance the other way

Yes Like Its Been Said Already Its A Motown/Northern 60s Night In General But The Last Hour Is More Northern Shaun Playing Top Sounds Like Timi Yuro.Frank Beverley.Ruby Andrews, Tomango's, Checkerboad Squares.Stanley Mitchell (Ect) - Hopefully At The Next In August There Will Be Patrols By The Staff To Stop Anyone Going On The Floor With Drinks And Any Getting Out Of Hand WILL BE SHOWN THE DOOR And Roman Will Make Sure Of That When There Is 300 People In Its Hard To See Whats Happing All The Time And The Staff Im Sure Will Sort That Out At The Next One - If You Have A Problem Go Ask Them After All Thats What There Payed For

Also It Will Be Mentioned To The Muni That The Dancefloor Needs A Bit Of TLC --Larry

In reply to geoffp, mssoulie, & footstomper  please lets get things into the right context - yes you have the right to your own opinions  but most people go out at weekends to enjoy themselves - but would you rather go out to attend a soul event  that pulls in 30-50 people with no atmosphere ?  or attend a very well supported venue with a fantastic atmosphere. OK you will always get the locals in , but most people started somewhere on the soul scene , ie local youth clubs playing commercial soul and N. soul tunes. Even the Dj's at wigan casino played lots of commercial pop N. soul tunes

and yes I did attend - not like loads of others who said they were there. So lets " FACE UP TO THE TRUTH "  and as Bob Dylan said " THE TIMES THEY ARE A CHANGIN "  promoters have a difficult time to put on events and compete with others, so just go out and enjoy yourselves and have some fun, each venue will find its own level of support,

SO WELL DONE ROMAN and all the dj's and associates

-----Dont think you get the point. Read the posts again- people are simply saying- quite independently of each other

that going to a pop music inclined venue packed to the rafters with ' sherried up' ladies with no shoes on, dancing around handbags aint for us.....
