Quote from John Vincent Re 'Central Alldayer - April 21st.
A big thank you to everyone at the Leeds Central today. I thoroughly enjoyed spinning the vinyl to a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic crowd who knew and understood the meaning of REAL DEAL NS. In particular highlights for me were Don varner - "Tear Stained Face" and "I'm Your Yes Man" - Clarence Reid. It has been a long time since I was last in the place (76) but after today my memories are still very good ones. What a vibe....a place full of hot 'cats', makes it all worthwhile and it was in Yorkshire...Right On Guys your were the tops

I thought the wheel in Manchester would take some beating, but low n behold one week later and what n alldayer in Leeds Central, it was absolutely superb..I had been waiting to shake the great John Vincents hand allday and 3 songs into his set i went to his booth called JV and he turned and gave me a big smile and shook my hand...i was 'avin a right buzz in there, it was really special...it was my virgin birth at central, but the music n people broke me in nicely...when i got on stage i thought i was one ov the Detroit spinners lol...it was ace n thankyou to all the Leeds team, don't f'get in Brian McDermott we trust...M.O.T...KTF 0/ X MICKY B

We had a great time at the last one, Swish's spot was BRILLIANT.

One drawback though, the sound quality really deteriorated after the first hour or so, can anything be done about this?

No it isn't me having a winge, it was poor!

Hopefully it'll be sorted for the next one

Hi and thanks for the constructive comments. The reason the sound seems to deteriorate is because of the amount of people that come in, as when it gets fuller, the sound is absorbed by the bodies and with the speakers all being at the front of the building, it sounds quieter at the back.
I hope that this answers your question.

a question for any original Central all-nighter go-ers..what would you say was the one quintessential record that could be associated with that period? a tough ask I know as it was the time of Bradford / Leeds market finds so  many tunes were discovered around that time, but if you had to name one which sums up the Central all-nighters, what would it be?

I have my own choice but will wait to see who comes up with what..

I would say probably 'Philip Mitchell - Free for all' Pete, always seems to remind me of the Central whenever I hear it.

Only a few days to go. By the looks of things it sounds like it's going to be yet another blinding day. Can't wait.
