Darnall Horti Soul Club Details

DARNALL HORTI SOUL CLUB - SHEFFIELD'S PREMIER O.V.O. SOUL VENUE

 Friday, May 17th, at the Darnall Horticultural Institute, 647 Staniforth Road, Sheffield S9 4RD

Alongside residents Gary, Alan and John this month our special guests behind the decks will be Little Av & Jim Smirk. Av is, of course, well known to many of us for her quality tunage. Jim is a friend of ours from Staffordshire, who has a superb collection and will, no doubt, bring some of his prized possessions along for our enjoyment. :hatsoff2: :hatsoff2: . So, come and enjoy good company, a great atmosphere and the finest soul music around.

Our continuing policy is to bring our supporters the best soul sounds from the 60s and 70s, and more, all only on original vinyl :thumbsup:. No politics, no egos, just soul, friendship and a belting night out. If you fancy hearing a few tunes you might not have heard before, alongside plenty of old favourites then why not come along and hear for yourself?

8.00pm till 12.30am, bar till 12.00. :D £3 ENTRY, NO ADMISSION AFTER 11.00PM.

See you there.

And it's only £50 per night. Er, I did mention that didn't I? :-) Looks like the weather's not going to be great, but I'm sure we'll cope.

Hi Chris, be good to see you mate. Hope we can serve up what you're looking for. We play just about anything, mainly 60s and 70s, but particularly try to find a good proportion of tunes you might not not hear at most other venues, and it's all original vinyl only.

Cheers

John

Ventured up like we said we would to the Hori, wakled in and thought, umm different, Left very very happy, music was brill not often you can go to a soul venue these days and think wow, could count on one hand how many i knew in the first hour or so, who says theres no thing new about northern soul music. This type of venue is so refreshing, northern soul how it should be, Little Av was excellent as were the residents. If you're looking for an island of tranqillity within a sea of handaggers, divs, beerswillers and the same olf stuff played each week by unimaganative boring djs then this is for you.

Thanks Gav. The more I look at it the more I think there might be a bit of aberration, (Can't think why - hic!) but it's more or less right. Need to have a chat to arrange for you to come spin us some tunes at the Horti sometime. Can't remember where we got to with that.

Sithee soon

John
