So sorry you had such a bad experience Chris and Mart. Another one for us to avoid - you should have called the police to deal with the sexual assault - no one should put up with that x

Such a shame Sharon, because other than the Saturday night we had a great weekend and met some people from jersey who were there for the 3 nights who were lovely. I have also had several pm's & messages on face book from people who have told me of similar experiences with the drunken idiots on the Saturday and as a consequence have not returned, perhaps - as I mentioned to the promoter whilst complaining its time to rethink his policy if he wants to keep the weekender a soul weekender, there are so many quality weekenders around why spend all that money to attend one that you effectively erase the Saturday, when it should be the highlight??? Dear Christine,on behalf of the Jerseys true soul folks (most of us are all ex pats and have long standing soul pedigrees) please accept our wholeheartedly unreserved apology! I cant imagine the humiliation you were made to endure by the appalling behavior from that prick you mentioned. I regret not seeing that incident earlier, i only wish you would of told me about the incident when i came across to see if there was anything i could do. Having said that, your discretion was upmost regarding that incident as i would of had to of punched the prick myself...at least a couple of times!!  I really hope this matter has not put you off coming to further soul events in Jersey but from reading your post i am most certain it has and can not blame you as everything you have written about the weekender is honest and true. I will be mentioning all your and our concerns to the Jersey soul folks and in turn will relay these concerns to Fitzy who has a duty as the promoter to ensure that everyone who attends the Jersey weekender is protected from incidents like you have so horribly witnessed..

                                               yours sincerely Glenn Phillips

Dear Glenn

Thank you so much for your post and once again thanks for coming to my assistance, I really did appreciate it you are a true gent; it is so sad that what had been up to Saturday night a really enjoyable event, dissolved into a hideous experience that I have in 40 years on the scene never before had to endure.

I would like to reiterate that Martyn & I both spoke to several jersey locals who were expats and found them nothing but welcoming friendly and like ourselves really into the scene that we love, so we do recognise it is a minority of idiots who spoil it for you, I really hope you dont have to put up with their antics at all your local events...

I feel at the moment that a return would not be something I would plan unless there was a complete guarantee of a saturday free of habdbaggers fuelled by alcohol, as i am getting too old for those antics, I have received several Pms on SS and FB from people who have experienced similar things including a group of my old Rotherham mates (blokes) being threatened by prostitutes a couple of years ago; so I do think it needs some serious rethinking.

if you are ever down Cleethorpes way give us a shout because you will always be welcome, equally if you are attending either Brid/Scarborough or Torquay weekenders give us a shout and we should meet to buy you a drink.and we truly mean that.

Once again thank you for taking the time to post in my support and please to all you true jersey soulies keep on keeping the faith you have a wonderful scene going on down there when the SFB are not in.

Finally please don't feel you have to apologise for the inappropriate behaviour of morons the majority of you were great, helpful and the sort of people we really enjoy mixing with.

Thanks Glenn for everything, we look forward to meeting you again somewhere and I will never forget your kindness.

Best wishes Chris & Martyn xxxxxx

People before profit

It is incumbent on the promoter to respond and silence in my view implies an acceptance that what you endured is merely a business risk

so i look forward to the official response

PS I was there

Christine I have been going to the weekenders in jersey since the beginning and yes you are entitled to air your views but i do not agree with you slating the weekender as you have.I don't think it fair of you using the very over descriptive words you have.If the weekender didn't suit you then fair enough but that does not give you the right to try and put people off going to future weekenders. As for the "sexual assault" well you didn't do bad in retaliating with "abh" as in a punch!!!!. As for the handbaggers you mention if tickets are sold in advance of the event by the hotel reception, who is to know who is coming in.They like anyone, do not know who they are and what they are like but that goes for every human being on this planet!!!!   The so called d**k heads were 5 guys not a "swarm" as you described so hence make a mountain out of a mole hill is not always the right way to go is it?.Anyway no doubt 90% of the attended people did enjoy the weekend and will return for further ones and not be put off by your slating "letter"

Kazza,I think if you read the post again, you will see I only commented with detriment about the Saturday night, and have support posted from others at the event that my review regarding Saturday night was factual; I do believe though if people tell the truth and are objective then it allows people to make an informed decision about events.

We all have our own opinions and experiences and those should always be respected.

I am really pleased you enjoy the weekender in Jersey; which other than the Saturday night we did immensely and I do hope you continue to do so in the future.

Kind regards

Chris xx

Well well well

We hope that you enjoyed your suprise on Thursday when we rendered you speechless for probably the first time in your life!

Kev - Regardless of what is being said in other quarters of social networking - WE REALLY ENJOYED IT AND HAD A GREAT TIME - especially because no one even knew that we were coming so you were all shocked to see us there.

Although Rob and myself had been before I enjoyed it this time more so than before and I know that Tony and Kate really enjoyed it.

Thursday night was quite an intimate affair as only a few people were there - and I believe that you lost your bet about the first dancers up - and Thursday night will surely take off and become an "extra night".

We know how hard that you and Chris work to make all of your venues work and we really appreciate that. We met some really nice people from all over the UK and Jersey, the music was good and it was a really good atmosphere with people really enjoying themselves.

Until we meet again - which will be Saturday by the way - KEEP THE FAITH!!!!

Dedicated followers of Fitzy - aka Denise, Rob, Kate and Tony

We went there, first time this year, and the last time.  We went in a party of 28 of us - the first night, Thurs was good, we had the night in the `motown` room. Friday was ok too - nice atmosphere and friendly staff, and the people booked in hotel were nice and chatty.

Saturday night - what a sham.................. wish l stayed in my room watching Airplane! When got back to the table - other people stood there with the drinks and couldnt sit down. Ended up sitting on next table and taking it in turns to sit down. The were folk on dancefloor with drinks in their hand....a big no no indeed, and stopping people from dancing - why couldnt they think and stand elsewhere? There were lots of pissheads and the Motown room OMG sardines are packed less tightly.

The sounds on all 4 nights - were repeated except for the DJ on the Sunday from 12-1 who played half dozen different ones - thus l thanked him!

Reckon the promoter was in it for the dosh - we run a northern night in the northwest and l take pride and talk to the guests and ask if they are enjoying their evening.  That to me is good hosting - nobody came round to ask about our feelings.

The friends we have gone with and ones we have made - well they made the weekend - but will we be going back - hell no!  Could be that the majority of the 28 wont be returning - all due the fact that the Saturday night was worse than a `grab a granny`or `who can get the most beer on a northern soul dancers floor, clothes, shoes` night!

Feel sorry for the true soulies who live in Jersey - it must be upsetting for them to see this possibly on a regular basis.  all l can say to them is `keep the faith`.  If they leave handbag on the dancefloor - go ahead and jump on the blooody thing!
