Hi Paul

It's The Gibside Hotel, it was the last room, & about 6 mins drive from the venue, so I'm happy.

I had checked out other hotels in the area, but for some reason all were fully booked (there must be something big going on Sat day/night  )

Regards

Make sure she doesn't listen to Massey's spot in the Modern Room then, otherwise she'll wish she was deaf again.

Joking apart, it is an inspirational story, choked me up when watching her on the news.  What a beautiful woman hearing for the first time, something we all take for granted.

When I started my lifelong journey down the northern soul road, what seems like a lifetime ago, in 1976/77, the main thing that kept me going, was being in the right place, at the right time, with the right people. Over the years sadly, due to whatever reasons, those values have been sadly forgotten. Not at this event!!!! What a fantastic day, with the right people, in the right place, at the right time. Thanks for another memorable day, at the Soul toon. Cheers-H

what a fantastic time we had, as Harry said great people and music. something that will stick with me the rest of my days is Joanne Milne dancing to jerry Williams if you  ask me, I was close to tears when I saw the clip on tv when after 40 years she was able to hear for the first time, and to see her enjoying our music

was emotional Thanks to Paul and all the gang for keeping the north east on the map,col

Well done matey, top, top day.All rooms did exactly what it said on the tin & then some,it was great to see the dj's behind the decks having as much fun as the dancers in front of them. There's certain event that become "must visit" occasions & The Toon dayer is certainly one of those imo.

See you next time

Cheers

Martyn

PS Thanks Hoss for the invite to spin a few

Enjoyed the trip to Gazza land (Dunston). Fabulous venue for this impressively organised alldayer. Well done Paul and your band of helpers , bar staff, security etc. Did the room hopping as so much on offer music wise from the djs. Great atmosphere only downside was an early departure to catch last train home. Picked up a couple of 45 wants at very good prices . Hopefully playlists will be posted . August 'Toon' already in diary.

My first visit to Soul Toon, loved it, & I'm definitely coming back !!!!

I enjoyed all 3 rooms, and the only downside for me, was,  that I couldn't be in 3 places at once, but I did try.  Please can I have a mobility scooter for August so I can whizz between rooms quicker  :D

The atmosphere was electric all day, music sensational, bumped into so many friends that I haven't seen for some time, some friends that I'm sick of the sight of, and a lovable ex con, that I obviously haven't seen for some time!!

Based in Leeds, I tend to go West a lot, but thanks to Paul & Co, I'll be going East (& a bit North) more often

Thanks for a really smashing day guys  :hatsoff2:

Regards

Ali x

P.S. One thing that will help me out in future (as well as a mobility scooter) is a timetable on each door.  Someone told me there was one on one of the room doors, but I never noticed it, sorry if there was one.

P.P.S A funny moment - A couple of the windows in the modern room had to be opened because of the heat, well towards the end of the night there were two girls who had been inside the venue waiting for their taxi outside, they were dancing away barefoot in the street, we kept waving to them from the dancefloor, and dancing along with them, mad it was, and it got even madder when they collared my friend, and requested a record from the window, which the deejay played (can't remember which record)   So funny when he announced over the mike that the request had come through the window.   We shouted to the girls when their taxi did arrive "if we don't see you through the week, we'll see you through the window"   That was the beauty of Saturday, everyone was up for a good laugh & a good old dance

P.P.P.S For anyone who is interested, here are a few snaps that I took, sorry that there aren't any of the dancefloors, but I was too busy dxcking about with mates to do a proper job

Cheers Paul & The Crew for a belting night and a great birthday for me!!

Thoroughly enjoyed it as usual. Had a few dances in the main hall, but it was the R n B room for me all night.

What a fantastic room with out of this world sounds.  In the words of that classic song...I just kept on dancin.......

Can't wait for August.

Keep it going matie cause it's one in a million.
