Some fantastic prizes available! Two free tickets to see a Notts County home game, an MP3 player, various bottles of wine donated by our Press Officer, Ollie, and one from the House of Commons donated by Vernon Coaker MP (hope he's not claimed it as expenses!), £100 cash tax free, free entry to Soul Survivors 'till the end of the year from Malc, and a signed photograph of Big Trev from the Driving Beat in his Speedo's! Thanks to Kier Anderson for donating a £10 at the Grosvenor on Saturday.

Anymore donations or gifts would be gratefully received as I think we've all been affected by cancer in one way or another and we want to raise as much money as possible.

Cheers,

Linds.

Provisional agreement made for the Mayor of Gedling, Bob Collis, to attend the evening and pull out the winning tickets: wonder what he'll look like in his Spencers! Recent donations include bottles of Rum and Vodka, a bouquet of flowers from the Flower Boutique, a bottle of Charlie perfume and a lifetime's free admission to NG4 Soul Coalition gigs (don't blame us if you have an accident on the way home!)

Hope that's a full size photo of big Trev, cos anything else just wouldn`t do.

So come along you lot and dig deep the work Maggies does is amazing and it is local, and it is a very good night anyway so with nothing to lose and the chance to win a picture of Driving Beat Trev in his speedo`s to gain see you there.

Rob Smith from Rob's Records, Hurts Yard, Nottingham ('Music was my first love and it will be my last') is donating some Cd's; Aunty Pearl has donated £15, and Mandy from 'A Touch of Class', Carlton Hill, is donating a cuddly toy (no, it isn't her husband!). Also promised are three boxes of Chef Square Shaped Soups and several packets of Kellogs Rise and Shine so I'll certainly be buying several strips of raffle tickets to win those!

Joking aside, all proceeds will be given to an excellent cause - 'Maggie's Cancer Care Homes' - and the music will be as always, a superb mix of classic '60's and '70's Northern Soul from our billiant Dj's: let us know if you want any of your favourite tracks playing and we'll do our best.

Hope to see you there!

Thanks to everyone who attended Friday night's gig and gave so generously: just under 200 on the same weekend as Brid. can't be bad! Over £1,200 was raised for Maggie's Cancer Care Centres and all prizes were joyfully received, particularly the dancing lessons for Gaz and Kay! Again - a big thank you to all those who donated gifts towards the raffle. A special thanks to the Driving Beat crew for providing the sound system and two talented Dj's, Gaz and Kev, and the benefit of Big Trev working the door (the photo of him and his speedo's has now been returned by Special Branch but Karen's keeping it for herself!). A special thanks to Vinny Soul Shaker for playing a classic set and bringing with him some new visitors to the club - hoped they enjoyed the evening.

As usual, our resident dj's, Neil who brought along his rural fan base and Kev who managed to extend the evening to 1am, played terrific sets, and John, Mandy and Jean did a superb job on the door collecting monies and selling raffle tickets - Julie excelled herself selling NG4 cd's and kisses for a pound: Kev was a bit jealous though! A final thanks to the (Labour) Mayor and Mayoress of Gedling for attending the event, pulling out the winning raffle tickets and joining in with the proceeding - they'd never seen so many blokes dancing on their own before!

All in all, a worthwhile event - hope to see you at the next gig in August!
