Thanks Philomena, set 2 miles from Boundary mill, the end of the M65, and similar distance to Skipton in the other direction, the Old Stone Trough has 40 rooms, a good restaurant, real ales and makes for a really good break, quote soul for a double room with full English @ £55,. One of the regulars remembers when it was still a barn , says he could get a bucket of ale on his way home from soul nights in the 7ts. John Townend one of our guests will introduce himself, although this is in weekender territory we will be aiming to party, and quality music from the 7ts to now, crossover and midtempo magic, have recently worked alongside Terry Jones and Richard Searling and would put our music policy as aspiring to "village soul" hope you can make it, Roman

Hi,
Roman has asked me to introduce myself to you,so here goes,This is my official return to the decks, after a break of some 18yrs,while I have 'nt jocked I have still been out and about on the scene, and kept up my obsession for vinyl.
In the 70s whilst working in the West Midlands,I deejayed at various venues;Locarno Birmingham,Halesowen Tiffanys,Newcastle Tiffs,St Ives allnighter and A couple of times at the Ritz alldayers working with Neil Rushton,Colin Curtis,Sam and Richard Searling and Ginger etc. This increasd my love of 70s Soul, both "northern" and what is now known as 70s Crossover!
After a break whilst raising a family,I returned to the decks back in my native North West, working venues such as;King Georges Hall Blackburn,The Kestral Suite Burnley,Yorkshire Riders Halifax,Lytham Lions and Morecambe, another break ensued in the late 90s until now!
The Old Stone Trough is an excellent friendly venue with a great music policy,...70s soul,Crossover, and a twist of modern.
With Roman,Robbie,Alan and myself on the decks you are going hear some great sounds....I hope you have a great nite...see you there!
Jon Tash.

A great nite was had by all at The Old Stone Trough last nite, excellent sets from all of the deejays, with a musical mix that encompassed sounds from the Highland Room thru to Soulful House, gave the Dancers plenty to keep them Groovin'.a great atmosphere and friendly feel make this venue one not to miss!It was nice to see a few new faces this month, with visitors from Blackpool,Preston,Carlisle, and a few guys from Nottingham that bypassed Whitby,to give us a visit..Thanks guys ....Hope to see you at the next one on August 24th....!

What a great night we had last night at The Old Stone Trough! It was well worth the drive over from Kirkham and we (and others) will definitely be back for more in August! The music was EXACTLY to our liking and the dj's were superb - all played top notch sets - BIG thanks to Robbie for playing True Image "I'm not over you yet". We especially noticed how friendly everyone was at this venue, the bar prices were good and the room was superb, cozy, and had a great feel to it - the candles on the tables were a nice touch and added to the feel of the night. Top marks to Roman and Robbie for organising a great night for the true soul fans that have moved on into the 70's and modern veign :-)

Many thanks for the feedback.  It's always nice to know that people had an enjoyable night.  We will continue to try and hunt-out the sounds people want to hear and slot-in fresh tracks to keep up the interest.  Also, thanks to all the crowd plus those who travelled from , Nottingham, Stockport and Carlisle.

Cant say enough in praise of all djs and soulies, mostly from different areas rather than local so when the weekender crowd are back we should be very busy, thats August 24th with Mark G.  Gary Parker and Shaun Fitton as guests, cheers Roman, ps afraid all 40 rooms are taken on this night as the American blues artists appearing at Colnes Blues fest. take up residency, we will maybe see some of them at the do, will give some alternatives for accomadation  soon. Roman
