Alice very excited about making her Twilight Soul club debut tomorrow!!  She has organised her box of 45's to check she has only original vinyl in there!!  She did make Jim laugh when she said "dad, I think I'd rather do the last set rather than the first"!!!  Think she needs a bit more practice and a few more years under her belt before she gets that spot!! Bless her!!  She is on 7 til 7.30pm, so try and get there early to make her day (possibly the youngest dj on the northern scene at 9 yrs old??)

Sincere apologies for the late write up this month - we were whisked away to an exotic location within hours of the Pie Hall's last Northern Soul night. It was Filey actually but this is the first chance I've had to speak about our night.

Again it was a hot summer evening and, if it wasn't my own do, I would probably have been drinking in my local to quench my thirst.

The night began with a very young DJ called Alice. 9 years old and with her small collection of original vinyl tried her best to start the night with an uptempo beat. Thanks to all that showed up so early, danced and clapped at the end of her set - think Rat Race was her last track. She was overwhelmed by your support and couldn't sleep as she went through her set list over and over again!

Our Soul friend Grahame Johnson took over for the open decks and, as per usual, played a set worthy of the "A List venues" - superb.

The resident DJ's did their best to warm up the Pie Hall as Andy Wagner took over with his eloquent skills of playing and understanding the floor. Andy was booked months and months ago and, believe me, he was worth the wait. I loved his set and so did the Pie Hall regulars. To his credit too, Andy compiled a free CD for all of us and had put much thought into this. If you got a copy of his "that old time feeling" CD, play it loud, it is superb.

The residents finished the night off to a crowd that were hungry for something that little bit special. I hope we provided that for you all.

Love ya!!

First time at the Pie Hall but blown away by the warm welcome.  Arrived too late for Alice - "Rat Race" --- wow, forgot about that one!

Excellent night loved the music, the dance floor and enthusiasm.  I really need some new knees!

Hope to be back soon.  KTF
