This is where the Devil worshipers of the rare soul scene welcome to our venue "I've never heard this before" Union for a harmonious night of top quality soul music to raise money for CHARITY SOUL Which is a charity set up for the causes of cancer and cancer stem cell research. Two of the founders will be DJin on the night TOC and Tony Jackson. The thing that got me turned on to this charity was quite simple when TOC said to me "Everyone knows someone who has been affected indirectly or directly by Cancer" It doesn't take a minute to think of 3 or 4 people on our soul scene not counting your own friends and relatives.. Well I look at it this way, once they have cracked the Cancer stem cells and it is only a matter of time before they crack the Parkinson's, Diabetes and other similar problem the human race suffers from in my opinion, touch wood.

In the devil worshipers corner We have the Strong man of Soul Mick H  out of Nottingham I've just seen him put an awesome set together up at the RAFA Club Newton Ayecliffe before Christmas. From WTF are they playing now corner we have TOC and Tony Jackson, two very experienced DJ's from the Knottingley Soul Club and a good laugh having DJed at their venue  for them on a Sunday afternoon, I will let Dale tell the story of when he lost one of his prized LPs behind the stage.. The dark horse of the day is Stuart Jopling. Stuart is from York and I have known him and his brother for many a year,He has told me his set will be  of underplayed oldies, which sounds good to me. So let raise plenty of money for Stem Cell Research and get cancer beaten.

Hello Andy and Dale,

We would of come down for this as it is a Saturday and not the usual Friday but up in Edinburgh Djing at the Jam House Alldayer on the Sunday.

I hope it is well supported for a great cause, and just like Andy says we all know someone with the dreaded C.

Will be there at the next one

Cheers Dave, we are hoping Saturdays will work, but with you out of the country profit margins will be down cost of living up but we shall survive, I am sure.  Enjoy your weekend away and I can't wait to hear about the Jam House

Take care

Hello Andy,

The best thing is I will be able to have a drink, but the bad news is playing records under the influence of alcohol..........soul police might give me three points or better still three pints.

take care

Dave

First off would like to thank Andy & Dale for putting this night on for charity soul. For those of you not sure what wer'e about briefly, fed up of losing friends and family to this terrible disease so we decided to do something about it. That is raise as much as we can and give it to frontline research to find the cure. After much research we found the man leading the fight, who just happens to be the top guy in his field in europe also just happens to be at York University.

This man is Professor Norman Maitland, i wont go on preaching but will have some info with us on the night.

A Couple of weeks ago we held an all dayer at the manhatton club in harrogate, this was a 3 room event and raised a staggering £3,300 on the day.

Dont expect this Andy after all only the 1 room haha only kidding.

Every penny raised folks makes a difference, so will be holding a raffle and if anyone would like to donate a prize this would be greatly appreciated.

The great thing about these events is everyone has a great time and all for a great cause.

As for my spot, well i know its usually a rare and underplayed night, When i look in my box canr find rare, and if its underplayed its underplayed for a reason lol. Prob be a mix of forgotten & currently played oldies with a bit of crossover.

Think the mix of dj's playing a great night is guaranteed

"‹Tony Well done for the Large amount raised at Harrogate, it takes balls to put on such a big event £3.300 raised WOW, I just hope our night will be somewhere near as popular but on smaller basis so we are putting the admission price upto a £1000 per person ONLY JOKING £4.00 as per usual.

It will be a great night for the soul music fan with Mick H coming up the M! from Nottingham Tony Jackson and TOC from Kellinglingly Soul Club, Stuart Jopling from York and Dale and Myself all bringing our different flavors of soul to the pot.

So anyone wanting to donate a prize  for the raffle please bring it along on the night A great cause

CharitySoul are £200 better off thanks to the generosity of the Kind folk who attended N Y Rare Soul Revue last night . Great to see some new faces to our event and some never payed FFS it was a charity night and every else payed I was gaged last night for sake of not spoiling everyone else's enjoyment. I got that off my chest. Derek Pearson our new resident, what a show, pure class. He is going to fit right in here, any a DJ that walks his dog between sets has my respect, I think I'll start bring my Tobi1. Stuart Jopling a character  on the soul scene that everyone knows first time DJin for us and has not DJed for years, so he was very nervous but well done to Stuart for getting up there.
Tony Jackson a great oldies and Xover set. Tony one the founders of CharitySoul who gave a brief description of what this charity is all about and its aims. He was grateful for the sum raised £200 not bad.
Mick H I would say after me (tongue in cheek) The UK's top rare DJ, awesome lovely set. A big thankyou to all that came and supported the cause CharitySoul

It was good to be back in Tadcaster bang on time as per usual (smile).

I don't do the motorway miles like I used to (my bladder limits a 50 mile radius from mi front door) so I don't get to hear as many interesting DJ's as I could or should. So it was good to listen to one of the countries top rare soul DJ's.

How do you follow Mick H when he's got such a strict high quality control on the stuff he plays.

Virtually every current play rarity that he spun - which I'd never heard before - I liked.

What more can you say?

But the highlight of the evening for me was catch up with an old buddy of mine Ronnie Pedley who I ain't seen for at least 5 years plus.

What with him and Chris Holmes 2 lads I like and respect in attendance Tadcaster is shaping up for me into a club full o' good lads.

Glad I could help in some small way to raise some money for such a worthy charity. Nice One chaps.

Playlists to follow.

Derek

On one of my trots round the football pitch mi dog Ruby once again got into a scuffle with a gang of squirrels. She will insist on trying to climb the trees after them. Then she gets stuck and I have to climb the tree to rescue her.
