Back from a fantastic weekend and what stood out and made this weekend for us was the people, a real friendly atmosphere. Great to see friends old and new, thanks to tony from Peterborough for introducing us to the Sheffield gang and the stewartsby regulars for looking after us all weekend thankyou. Great to see winston and jackie as always and many others. Shared a b&b with Kev such (not only a great dj but also a great mover on the dance floor! :-) . Highlight for me was Saturday night upstairs, the music was first class and a big thanks to ted Massey for playing my request you topped an already brilliant weekend off. It may not be the biggest weekender but biggest is not always best. Thanks mark and Donna.

Back from Skeg had a good time as always with some proper tunes played, visited all the rooms if only briefly and spent most of the time in the main room, I don't want to sound negative but I thought there were a lot of repeats on the Saturday allnighter in fact one got repeated after about 45 minutes, I know it's bound to happen over 10 hour so I aint complaining too much, enjoyed the afternoon sessions and imho Tezza and Chris were wasted they should have had a night spot.Only back tonight because of work tomorrow [ feeling depressed already] the rest of the gang still there and B n B booked for September.

Is this the best weekender in the country? Well for me it damn well is. Admittedly I am honoured to be asked to DJ in the main and RnB rooms. But in all honesty WHO WOULDNT be? DJing or not I'd be there every time. Whatever your penchant music wise incorporating the differing aspects of this umbilical scene of collective inviduality. If you dont get your fix of it at Skeggy you wont find such a range under one roof to satisfy you wether that be curiosity or passion. The planning and ensuring a smooth run must be a logistical and clerical nightmare and I doff my cap emphatically to David Raistrick, Donna Dean, Micheal D Cooper and Netty and all else involved. From starting the RnB room on Friday night to starting the main room with the guy who makes me look good, Marco Martinelli on the Saturday night to getting back to my digs at 6.30am this morning. Its bloody marvelous. If you were there you know without doubt we'll all be back later in the year, if you were'nt you should try it and I guarantee you'd be hard pressed not to come away fulfilled.

Kev ( dont do modern, but did go in and dance a bit in there) Such

Agree with whats been said, great weekend and for 25 quid where else could you get so many quality DJs and music. We stopped in the Vault most weekend and we think only one record was played twice !From kev such to steve brown quality RnB from start to finish !Pity a few more weren't there but could have been at Mojo Hull,Pow Wow Stoke or maybe getting stoned watching Simon Cowell and figuring out the meaning of life.

Good to see a few more on thursday listening and dancing to all genres and not forgetting "ladies day" (jess making her debut)something to build on we think ????

Thanks to all who made it happen and roll on the next one.

Lord Ted stole the show with the Saturday session, Bang, Bang, Bang, they just kept on coming - Awesome is not a strong enough word.

See you guys next time XX

Did anyone else feel it?

Sunday afternoon, when I was mildly delirious with exhaustion, a couple walked into the event and stopped for a quick chat and to say hello. Naming no names (Winston Heath and Jackie Kowalewski) they systematically and mercilessly said nice things in order to break me and reduce me tears (this took about 5 seconds).

Winston told me (while Jackie helpfully provided tissues) that when the Skegness Weekender first moved to the Grand Central he had misgivings...he wasn't sure, but was open minded. Admirably they and many others like them continued to support the event during it's first steps. On Saturday night, as he was on the dancefloor in the main room, he said:

"I just got it".

*Donna at this point is weeping softly*

Recounting this afterwards, several people said that they knew exactly what he meant. Everything just clicked into place this weekend and there was a definite feeling that those first small steps in the right direction had suddenly become a gallop.

Reading the comments and feedback, it becomes apparent that not only is our weekend outstanding musically with each room providing a fantastic line up of dee-jays playing such imaginative and inspiring sets, in a venue that is almost built for purpose, it's also about the crowd and the strength of the bonds and friendships that are created.

On a personal level, we feel extremely lucky that through promoting this event we have been fortunate enough to meet some of the most incredible people that, over the course of the years have become firm and loyal friends (you know who you are) who genuinely care about what we do and are fiercely protective of what we have all built.

This weekend also saw the wedding of Micheal Cooper and his beloved Nettie. What was supposed to be an intimate low key no-fuss wedding turned into possibly the largest wedding reception of a non-Royal couple in recent times, and it was truly lovely to see them celebrating their marriage among so many friends. (At this point I'd like to say a special thank you to Nettie...our little team on the door runs like a well oiled machine - and the bouts of hysteria are an added bonus)

So...once again, massive thanks to everyone who has made the weekend what it has become. In September we will be celebrating our 15th Anniversary....15 years - 30 events....watch this space!!!

Dave, Donna & Coops
