WHAT THE FUNK!!!!!!!

Sorry folks that Bob Hinsley couldn't make it last night but we only found out at 8.00pm on the night.  It was a great night with Manchester's own - Robbo playing to an appreciative crowd and Martin McCauley and Neil Taylor blowing the doors off the place with unrelenting soul / funk music. A truly eclectic mix of soul music that is definitely something different and if you want "Something new to do" then come along for next months instalment with MIck H as guest dj. Lots of positive comments about the different tastes of music delivered from sugar sweet group soul to Northern Standards to the rarest of the rare.

Many thanks again to Martin, Neil, Robbo and Paul Ackley for "tearing the roof off the sucker". Good to see some young soul rebels in, keep coming guys, we need young new blood in this game.

Without you - the paying punter we'd have nothing, so thanks for the support and hopefully see you all next month.

Paul.

Hello Kev, long time no see. As soon as I get the playlists from the guests I'll put them up - I did ask for them to write them down as they went but it got hectic and the Funk Brothers were so involved in it all they just wrote down 2 records as they bounced off each other. My memory span these days is as long as a coy carp's but some of the records played were:

Tony Matthews - My wish

Frankie & the Damons - Man from Soul

Randolph Walker - 40 Love st

Arthur Adams - My baby's love

Steve Mancha - Friday night + flip

Tony Clarke - wrong man

The Trannells - Blessed with a love

Eddie Billups - Ask my heart

Milton Parker - Women Like it harder

Soul incorporated - My proposal

Paul Sindab - I was a fool

Teddy and the Fingerpoppers - Soul Groove

The Spoilers - Spoilers Rap

Marteniques - If you love me

David Thomas  - I'll always need you

Magnetics - Count the days

The Contours - Whole lot of woman

Ola Harper - Weep

Emanuel Laskey - Peace loving man

Plus too many to mention and the funk brothers records - loads I didn't know but what a dance groove. Floor never emptied.

As soon as I get the full lists Kev - I'll put them up here.

Would be good to see you in the future, I know work commitments are hard but if you can - get along!!!!!!!!

See ya - Paul

Neil, friends & I had a top night @ the Rafa. Thanks for giving us the freedom to play what we love on home turf. The vibe all night was spot on & I never heard a duffer spun all night.

Sorry about not writing the tunes down last night, forgot all about it once we got going.... I've emailed you my half of our set. Might be tougher getting the big lads, he's not one for play lists.

Cheers

Martin

Some of the "Funk Brothers" records played on Sat' night - Neil - get yours up and Robbo - please do the same. Top night with mega soul fans, Mick H next month so no lightweight soul - full fat soul is what your gonna get.

Me & Neil plus friends had a great night. It was brilliant to get a chance to play our stuff on home turf. The tunes all night were nothing sort of excellent from everyone imo.

I'm make sure Neil sends you his tunes, mine were:
Arthur Adams - My Baby's love
El Anthony - we've been in love too long
Clarence Murray - let's get on with it
House guests - my mind set me free (pt 1)
Steve Mancha - Friday night
Neal Kimble - if it wasn't for the children
Eddie Parker - I need a true love
Soul Medics - wrap it up
Pat Stallings - Everybody knows
The Specials - I can't find another (pt 1)
Sir Guy - I need you baby
The Temptations - (I know) I'm losing you

Thanks again for having us and giving us the freedom to play what we enjoy.

Cheers

Atomic Dog ;-)
