Looking forward to another great night down those stairs of top northern soul tunes. A most welcome return of Dave Wood from the City Centre Soul Nights at the Black Lion in manchester, allways plays a blinder at our little club, and a first time debut spot from Gordon (The Reverand) from the Seven Hills Scooter Club right here in Sheffield. Everyone knows Dave and with his usual banter and great record collection allways hits the spot. Gordon, a well known face on the scooter scene, has done a few spots down at the "Bess" on a sunday afternoon and allways gets a good response from the crowd for his classic northern soul spots.

As allways ably assisted by Mrs. KGB, see you all on the night, Barry, KGB, KTF.

Yesterday I was mainly laying on the settee.

Another great night saturday down those stairs at the KGB, but unfortunately the recovery period seems to get longer these days. LOL.

Many thanks to everyone who came and supported us, from Donny, Barnsley, Rotherham, Sheffield soulies, KGB regulars and everywhere inbetween, creating another great atmosphere, you are all top people.

Thanks to the D.J.'s, The Reverand, Gordon, a great spot of classic northern and Woody with his usual mix of classic northern with a bit of RnB thrown in. Top spots fellas. Ably assisted by Mrs. KGB.

No impromptu parties this month, just top drawer people listening and dancing, to top drawer music. Thanks again for making it a great night and making the recovery period more worthwhile for every minute spent on the settee, LOL.

See you all again next month for another belter with long time friends, Doug Leak and Paul "Ace" Richards, Barry, KGB, KTF.

Barry you've beat me too it.

I was going to say more or less everything you have already mentioned, from a well delivered warm up spot from Mrs KGB, a nice blend of traditional Northern Soul and a personal and somewhat of a time slip moment for me from the days when the KGB was in the opposite side of the building (i even went to check this out and apart from the room now being a snooker centre it's just the same but a lot brighter and minus Travis Wammack playing on the sound system)

Other deck duties were spilt between Gordon "The Reverend" (sorry Gordon i dont know your surname) and Dave "Woody" Wood, Gordon gave everyone a great hour of no frills classics from 60's Detroit sounds to some class slices of 70's soul a well paced set that hit the right notes with the crowd on the night a great solid spot from start to finish.

Woody then took to the stage (and for the fashionistas among us sporting a nicley tailored boating jacket) and gave us a pretty slick blend of soul styles from established favourites to rare gems such as Ann Caudell's "Longing For You" (and maybe a first play on vinyl in Sheffield for this haunting and moody Hammond organ based disc) to classic dancers and from a record collection that doesn't know the meaning of the words re-pressing or second issue impressive you bet.

And not forgetting Barry "Mr KGB" Holland who finished the night of in his customary style sadly i couldn't stay to hear the full spot but i'm sure many more British takes of over the water soul standards got an outing. So there we have it, if you've been to the KGB before it won't require any introduction and for those of you who haven't it really is well worth a visit.

Till next month, go steady.

Russ

Hi Barry & Ann,
really enjoyed our night in Sheffield & being invited as your Guest DJ was a massive bonus, had an absolute ball behind the decks. Fantastic music all night, brill friendly atmosphere, loads of laughs & the Beer & Bar price's are'nt bad either.... (lol). Nice to see loads of friends from Sheffield, Nige, Russ, Neil & all the gang. Also great to see Barnsley lads Alan, Daz & John  enjoying the night & giving their support.
Keep up the good work & look forward to seeing you both again soon, Woody & Sue

Thanks Russ for the great words, said what I wanted to say and more, well put. I don't know Gordon's surname or if I do I've forgotten it. I think he's just known with the scooter lads as The Reverand, and I don't why that is either. LOL.

Barry, KGB, KTF.
