Whey hey!!! Can it be true? The return of TSOP at The Longfield Suite?? Absolutely brilliant news!! I remember queuing up the stairs to get in back in 2005. A brilliant venue that's been gone for far too long!

It is absolutely brilliant news! Although strange for a revival that they've got  some dj's on who weren't there originally and not got ones on who were, such as Terry Davies and Pete Eccles?????

How odd??!!

just a brief message to let everyone who is interested know, that every effort is being made to attain the services of TERRY DAVIES who, as you will be aware, was an integral part of the the success of tsop...this is ongoing.....in the meantime, COLIN CURTIS has been added to the line-up for this special occasion. PLEASE NOTE: tickets are priced at £7 which is basically just a pound more than previous admission ( otd £10 ). whilst i am unaware of any financial obligations, i would suggest it is still great value for money as this IS a fantastic venue...as many of you will testify. get ready for a touch of velvet and a sting of brass....ALL OVER AGAIN!

i know it's 5 month's away but i would strongly advise to book tickets for this event a.s.a.p. as interest is going to escalate...this WILL be one of the most anticipated re-unions of any northern soul venue, such has been it's astounding success in the north west between 1999-2009...10 amazing years, a regular monthly lock-out, an array of dj's from the u.k., europe and around the globe...a totally brilliant atmosphere...a chance to sample what T.S.O.P. was all about....AGAIN!

As Rob says there will be admission on the door, so don't think no ticket - no entry, just be advisable to get there early,

Thanks Guys looks like i will have to pay on the door and get there as it opens.would have prefered a ticket as traveling from Donny.Realy fancy this one used to go most months and went to a couple of mini nighters and the infamous radio 2 broadcast night. My work and home life is far too complicated to order tickets in advance for any night which is why ive left it late im afraid, but i hope to be there one last time.I hope the music on the night is a reflection of the sounds that became familiar with the place.

Looking forward to dancing on that superb dance floor once more . The Longfield suite was a favored meet up for many of us that got back on the soul scene around 14 years ago, we used to be all part of one of the first social northern networking sites being the KTF mailing list. I do hope a few turn out to remember those times when as many as a group of 25 people would be on one table.

Trying to recall some of the big hitters at the time

The Cashmeres - don't let the door hit you back & Showstopper

Cory Glover - Little Girl

Otis Redding  - Loving by the pound

Almeta Lattimore - These memories

Yes, not all 100mph stompers at the Longfield Suite, packed dance floors to all tempos, could be a culture shock to a few, but quality all the way

i must be an early riser!,......as too many to mention, were still expending energy when we left about 20 mins from finish.......WHAT A NIGHT!!....and on behalf of RICHARD, who really IS the promoter extraordinaire and without him, this show simply wouldn't have got off the ground, myself, MAY, BARRY who always provides a tremendous system, and the rest of the dj team in both rooms.....WE WANT TO THANK ALL OF YOU WHO ATTENDED AND MADE THIS SUCH  AN OUTSTANDINGLY SUCCESSFUL NIGHT, WHOLEHEARTEDLY......THANKYOU SO MUCH, we genuinely appreciate the time and effort you all put in and the distances you more than likely travelled, to be part of this phenomenal, event.

......WHAT A GIG!....still buzzin' this morning, the vibe and feelgood factor is still evident.....we were just flabbergasted and stunned at how many people came for the atmosphere and the music that THE LONGFIELD SUITE delivers in copious amounts......SPOILED OR WHAT??. the camaraderie never ceases to amaze me...so many folk have been up for this for soooooooooo long......IT WAS LIKE IT HAD NEVER BEEN AWAY!.

the spectrum of music of course, has always been part of the T.S.O.P. brief....that's what set it head and shoulders above the rest in the first place....THAT'S WHY so many familiar faces returned to their beloved stomping ground,....THAT'S WHY a whole generation who weren't aware of it before, took the opportunity to taste the unique ambience, PRESTWICH offers up. WOW!, the dance floor in the main ballroom had been polished to a high resonance and that quite simply must have taken people's breath away. add to that, great sets from GINGER, PETE ROBERTS, NIGE BROWN, NIGE GRICE, ROMAN & PETE ECCLES, more than enough reasons to expect quality music, guaranteed to keep the floor busy and show it the respect it deserves.

The modern room......well......it speaks for itself as it always did...TOTALLY SUBLIME!!, being positioned outside the room, as we were, we got the full effect,...hearts on their sleeves, top drawer CHOONZ from MIKE STEPHENS, COLIN, BAZ, J.K., TONY B. & the maestro himself,, and all-round entertainer supreme, RICHARD SEARLING.....groovin' just don't get better than this...a well up for it crowd who showed no signs of wanting the show to end.....EXACTLY WHY THIS MODERN ROOM WAS, AND STILL IS, THE BEST IN THE U.K.

more to be said?, frankly i don't need to overstate the obvious, other than there will be another horizon to be reached and you can bet your sweet soul lives T.S.O.P. is gonna be on it!!.

A real buzz about the place when we first arrived at 8.30. The music was very good and lots of dancing to some proper tunes. On the funny side we did watch a lady dancing round her handbag but hey ho it takes all sorts.

The only down side for me and a lot of our party of about 20 was the last hour, we like to leave a venue hot sweaty and knackered on account of dancing to a real feast of quality uptempo tunes. Instead we were treated to an hour of same old same old, to make it interesting Tony Clarke - wrong man was played; I know its a rare expensive record but its slow and uninteresting (imho) and in  the last hour...... I left feeling cheated for the absence of a crescendo.

I hope at the next one in November the last hour is given proper attention, its not about filling an hour behind the decks, it should include inspiration and imagination. Leave the customer wanting more rather than wishing they had left early.

Reason why i returned last night was that it was one of my all time fave venues and during the early 2000s along with the golden era of Brighouse ,these were the best soul nights in the country.

I treated it as a reunion and hoped to hear the unique sound of Prestwich one more time.

I was a little dissapointed with the music played early on and last off and the imaginative days of old were missing a tad in my opinion. It got better mid way through with good spots from Nige Brown and Ginger when some of the Pestwich Biggies were brought out of the bag.

However the place was full with a great atmosphere and it was brill to be back.

Agree with some of your points but Tony Clarke was a huge Prestwich fave back in the day and i'm sure that many old attendees would have insisted on its inclusion. This was meant to be a one off reunion night see flyer. As i said before the Prestwich sound was diverse. It had a mix of Uptempo and midtempo 60s and 70s sounds along with R&B abit of everything realy.Thats what made it special.I love my uptempo stuff as well but that can be a bit boring if the same old Wigan Stompers are played non stop.Prestwich was never about that

Patto this is spot on, I, as you probably know, am the villain that played this record, I can't tell you how many respected long serving members of our scene requested that record, and because of the tempo I purposely left it til almost the last record, it is actually the self same copy that was massive at Prestwich back then, spun by Terry Davies then by me,

Any way I'm not biting again with Mellorful, he's/she's becoming a bit of a stalker, he/she knows full well his/her post was aimed at me, and I don't want to drag the thread completely off kilter because of his/her obsession with me, so I won't be commenting again where he/she is involved, isn't fair,

Last night was a real blast being back in the old place one more time, felt a bit surreal at times, everyone I spoke to had a great night, the numbers were fantastic, so well done to all concerned for all their hard work in bringing us the Longfield Suite one more time, saw some friends I hadn't seen for far too long, and hopefully it may all happen again sometime in the not to distant future,

Well what more is there to say that hasn't already been said.  The night was incredible.  It's been some time since I felt that level of warmth at a soul event.  It was clear that many people were reuniting and I saw many faces from the old days.  The floor was mahogany rich, shiny and polished as a ripe conker, all the sets were excellent, it was great to see Roman on the decks for the first set and he soon had the floor bouncing.  Well done that man for kicking the night of with a bang, it set the scene for the whole evening.  On arrival there were queues up the stairs and all the years just fell away and it felt just like it used to. Walking from the northern room into the foyer the deep heavy beat of the modern room was pumping out and people were milling around chatting and chilling, the place where modern meets northern.  I never imagined the atmosphere from the old days could be replicated so many years on, but it was, completely.  Congratulations to the promoters for bringing back one of the highlights of the soul calendar and the word on the street is that we haven't heard the last of TSOP, which is the best news. It was a very memorable evening.  Thanks to all concerned, the promoters, the DJs and of course to every single soulie in the room for helping to create a special piece of magic.

Thanks Pete.Like all reunions it takes a lot to re-live peoples great memories. The main thing is that some of the old guard made it back and saw the place full again. As i recall You were a main part of the venues past status that will be with you always. The scene is changing fast now and it makes me and i expect lots of others realise even more how good we had it in the early throws of the venue.I would like to think those days could be recaptured by a soul night but its a tall order.

Brilliant night from start to the very end the music just like it always was. Mr Eccles ending the night and leaving us with the true Prestwich taste that I can still taste today. The policy always at Prestwich was to keep the floor full and this certainly happened. The scene has and is changing all the time and this has already been said but wow how lucky were we to have had TSOP. See you on the floor somewhere. Hugh x Yvonne.

It was a very busy night , early on full of soul people and a great atmosphere .. looking forward to the next one which in a way will not be a re union , and hope the sound of  2014 Prestwich keeps it as Northern as per its roots ...

can i just emphasize, this was an inaugural re-union, the next date won't be deemed as such, we just wanted to ensure that everything went off ok. opinion on music policy and advertising will be taken into consideration...we do realize that it's never going to be possible to please everyone all of the time, so bear with us......we're absolutely chuffed to bits with the attendance and on the whole, it looked like everyone enjoyed theirselves to  a large extent, many staying on to the close. we will look at the placing of flyers, as one table upstairs was inadequate,...as for putting them on tables in the main ballroom, that's probably a different matter and perhaps concerns the venue's management...i honestly don't think they were prepared to allow that, i think they only made an  exception for richard, he being the promoter of the event. i also don't believe there was any allowance made for record dealers on the night though rob smith did turn up,...again i think they let that go as well. different people come in with different policies, so even though this was a well publicized event, there were still things that cropped up that we weren't aware of. a comment was made about the heating being on in the modern room......really?........i'll let everyone figure that one out!!. we do appreciate what is said and we do listen, so don't judge us off the back of one gig.

Cant believe it was 5 years since we were last at Prestwich, an event we attender for many many years, it was great to be back and to tell you the truth as the night went on it seemed like i was there the month before & not 5 years before.

It was great to see so many friends i hadn't  seen since the last Prestwich, all them years ago, it really was a reunion.

As for the music i do have to agree with rolo1994 (sorry) but i will return regardless, well done to all concerned, see you in January for the next Prestwich.

Funny how there is a reference here to flyers when there does not appear to be mention of previously. Has your conscience been pricked by someone? The table upstairs was reserved for official flyers and no flyers were allowed on tables at the behest of the promoter. I was informed as such by not only the security staff but also by staff on the door. How sad, I try not to be judgemental of people but a well known Barratt Strong tune seems to sum it all up.
