Morley Sunday Soul Details

Morley Sunday Soul

Serving up a Northern, Modern and R&B with a small slice of Classic Club Soul on the side, first Sunday afternoon of every month.

Resident DJ: Steve C

2:30 pm till 7:30 pm, door tax free.

Lovely pub with reasonable beer prices, plenty of parking, outside seating for sunny afternoons, and handy for motor ways.

The music features Northern Soul including original and modern, Crossover and R&B. It also includes Mecca Soul (Motown, Stax, Invictus, Island etc..)

Half hour Open Deck sessions available most month, but book early to avoid disapointment.

At the event, we play vinyl only. As 7" records in quality can weigh a considerable amount, it isn't possible to have every record guests might ask for. Each DJ might drag as many as 200 singles backwards and forwards to each event. So why don't you give us a heads up of what you might like to hear by making a post below. We'll do what we can to ensure it's there at the soul session.

So an afternoon of banter and chat listening to some great soulful sounds and quaffing a few lemonades. (Hand pulled beers are available ;-))

Tony and his partner, Edith, will give you a friendly welcome and it will be great to see you there.

Some great news: because the event has been so popular, we are starting half an hour earlier and closing half an hour later to give extra play time, spread the afternoon out a bit and allow time for people to drop in and out again.

It has been a joy to play to such appreciative audiences and to mix in tunes that might otherwise never be aired with classic favourites.

We hope to see you there Sunday.

I have been asked to do the early doors slot again (14:30 start this time)

Great opportunity to "dust off" some more "me" tunes from the cupboard.......

Nothing too obscure or odd...nothing too overplayed.........just good 6Ts (bit of 70s for bad measure maybe)

7 inch only...cant do with carrying them big dinner plates...no boots..no carvers..no UK..no LPs...no CDs...no digital downloads or playing tunes from my phone........

just OVO....and plenty of styrene too.......or whatever.....

Fantastic alternative to washing the car and cutting the grass.....be there.

Take one traditional old pub. Fill with the curious and the knowledgeable. Add some Soul sounds and stir gently and what do you get? One of the best fun packed afternoons you can imagine. It makes us so happy to have such an appreciative audience. Thanks to Craig Robinson, Steve and Andy Carling for mixing it up. Tony and Edith for making it possible. Let do it all again on the 5th January.
