This will be great night the club is tailor made for nighters  right in the heart of the northern soul scene is about half an hour from everywhere such as Hinckley , Derby and Leicester. good roads like the A/M 42 ,A50 ect. there has always been a hard core soulie base in this area and with the facility's of the club and a Bobby Dazler of a dance floor this venue will be a real goer.great parking and a large chill out room this joint has the lot this venue will take off and with the guy's in charge who's pedigrees speak for them selves we're assured a professional nighter see you there.

I agree, This new allnighter will make the village of Ibstock the heart of soul in  Leicestershire. Good to have local Dj's Richard John from Ibstock, Simon Hunt and Tom Hunt from Ashby and John Dennis supporting the National Dj's, this will ensure this will be a cracking 1st night for this venture. Be assured this venue as a top class dance floor, can't wait to see this place packed to the rafters.

There appears to be a rumer going around that there is only a drinks licence until 1 o,clock. i have just spoken to a committee member of the club and i have seen the licence, it is not true. the licence is 4 o,clock and open til 6.

its going to be a great night.

Glyn, it only took one person to mis-read a flyer at the club to start this rumour off, apparently there is entertainment in the separate bar area that finishes at 1am that started it all off, see everyone on Saturday, Richard

Looking forward to burning off hundreds of those extra christmas calories, wont be any way I cant do that because with the dj line up its going to be a drowded floor with lots of people dancing to some great tunes. The perfect way to end the year, going to the first of what hopefully will be another cracking nighters launch.

ps A little alteration,it may well be thousands never mind hundreds of calories that are burnt off dancing to the soul that will be played on Saturday night sunday morning, well only a few days to go mow.

We got there at twelve and it was already lively,we being me and me good mate Phil me being me Manus whose computer got well and truely phooked and died a virus death due to the unnwanted clodhoppinng of a bloke who was looking after my flat for me over xmas week.Anyway at twelve it was already getting busy annd the venue was what i like just right in size and design to hold a cracking northern nighter in.There was a fair sized crowd with a good few folk I  and Phil know(Phil knows nearly everyone)The floor was busy when we arrived, some nice choons ringing out,all the djs we heard went down well to my and my mates ears, each disc spinner having plenty to offer. The dancefloor was really well and truely meant for people to dance to northern on,loved it ,it was excellent. For a first time the night went down well, I hope it becomes established in the  near future well done to the lads who put it on.Ihad a good verbal with a long term pal of mine from Corby "Monny",and his charming wife who was on the nighter scene right back to Bletsoe and earlier who is also from Corby and is verry knowledgeable about the scene, also had a verbal with Craig, great lad,no doubt or uncertainty whether this lad was enjoying his night.Oh and I am pleased to say me and Phil also had a chat with John Dennis out in the freezing car park after once more ,well done mate, very good night and start, really liked your spot as I did Sharmos and all the others.

Well you know as always here come the bad points or point,as with all good nighters these days and times,in fact its about time, not enough of it,why cant they be open till eight as in days gone by,when its good I always want another two hours,i would have defo liked another two hours extra at the ibstock nighter.Dont know what it was like before we got there but we didnt spot one piss head last night ni  the hall there was only and all soulies and thats good news indeed.Bit of repetition again, phooking  ell,I loved that dancefloor ,what a cracker. Nice one all round last night to all concerned with organising and dj ing, I think I burned off a few cals last night no prob,(in my ongoing war against my flab) had no choice classy choons made me dance. When on again to Ibstock nighter Iwill be back as I am quite convinced many otherts will be doing the same atbManusf3a

First time for me at ibstock what a great club this is.

The DJs kept the floor packed with a good mixture of oldies but for me Simon's spot was brilliant and thanks for playing ray pollard ( this time) as requested

Over the years I'd been to one or two non soul event at Ibstock working mens club and have couple of observations , firstly it's great to see a working mens club not only surviving but thriving today. The club still holds many of the charms associated with another era , from the décor to the toilets and the bar all remnants of another time . I remember that club full to the brim with mining and clay industry workers and their family's and these are the kind of places that for many reasons are perfect for northern soul nights and this place is without exception. Ibstocks geographical position places it bang in the centre  of not just the east midlands but also west midlands northern soul action. The dance floor is large and I was told by numerous dancers very good to slide around on , from my point of view the sound system was cock on and there was more than ample seating .the bar prices are more than reasonable and there is a large car park at the back near the college for a hundred plus cars . there were a few locals in but as Phil observed earlier no piss heads . I think that the organisers have got the music policy about right with what I can see as a permanent blend of 75 % oldies and  a few current spins with a slither of 70's / 80's just to add a little spice. I think that Ibstock will be one of the most attended nighters this coming year as it sits on two northern soul frontiers and has music for the masses . See you at the next one hopefully best regards as always and Happy new year Simon.

Sharmo and El Tad are spot on,the venue and dancefloor are excellent,Ive always been a big fan of the smaller more intimate enue  brimming atmosphere for a nighter, when Wigan was going I much preferred Sams or Cleethorpes and St ives, thats just me,when it came to choice and it wasnt to do with distance most times it was these places I would go to although also having been to Wigan more than a few times, just one of those things!Anyway I liked the nighter plenty for what I saw and heard especially for a first time venue, sincerely hope there will be lore in the future as stated by the flyer. After the Coalville nighter this year I thought great, really liked this hope it becomes regular but things went the way they did, hope it doesnt happen with this one as I am looking forward to plenty more here.As some else said the venue is slap bamg in the middle of what has been for many years and still is soulie country spanning a number of counties all within easy reach,so as word spreads this could well become a very crowde nighter and so may it be.

The dancefloor as has been mentioned a few times was the dogs bollux and a bit more, really nice saw plenty of people lapping it up out there on it through the night and there was lots and lots of choons played to keep them there. All the djs in my opinion were spot on with their sets, liked the way the music policy worked itself out in the way it did cocerning oldies, newer stuff, etc plenty of uptempo to tempt the legs to move to.As already said distinct lack of piss heads and very soulful crowd, saw quite a few folk I know and talked to some new  ones.Said it before on another lookback somewhere but I hope I can still do as much time on the floor as Tom does when I am 61,I was well pleasd to say hello to John Dennis after in the car park in person at last .Well done again to him and all the others who organisd and djed..To say it again I am a big fan of this type of venue and those just a little bigger, therefore Stoke has never really appealled to me and ow I dont think it will, phooking hells bells, with Ibstock,Blackhearts,Nuneaton and Leicester all on the go ,all in the middle of soul country with notrthants and beds cambs etc nearby to attract punters from why bother with stoke(again my personal opinion0with all these great places on the go from week to week, nice one Ibstock ,first of many, rooll on the next one.
